Chapter 255: The Perks of the Town Cabin! The Dungeon Domain, New Source of Wealth
He pushed the wooden door open. The cabin was incredibly simple. It contained a simple bed, a storage shelf, and some basic furnishings.
He inspected the storage shelf. It functioned as his town inventory. It currently had a capacity of 100 item slots.
He also checked the town management interface. Town upgrades still existed here. However, unlike the old world, town upgrades were completely separate from player progression. They no longer granted absurd benefits like free resurrection.
This change made far more sense. Lower-dimensional worlds exaggerated many mechanics. The higher-dimensional Origin Ascension Domain followed much stricter rules.
After checking his inventory, Caelus noticed a new prompt above the simple bed.
Sleeping on it for only ten minutes completely refreshed a player’s energy.
That was the function of this bed, and if he wasn’t wrong, with each upgrade, the rest time decreased.
Remembering how exhausted Sylvia looked earlier tonight after their exercise, he immediately opened his party list.
He sent her a quick message, telling her to make use of her cabin bed before doing anything else.
Sylvia quickly replied with a smiling emoji and a thumbs-up emoji.
Caelus closed the chat window upon seeing this.
He then sat on the edge of his own bed, quietly planning his next steps inside the Domain.
His first priority was obtaining armor.
Up until now, he had acquired weapons, skills, and traits. But he still possessed no proper defensive equipment. That left a major weakness in his build.
His second priority was taking control of this town.
Once he gained authority here, he planned to transfer Sylvia into the same settlement. Operating together was much better than operating separately.
His third priority was earning a massive amount of Origin Credits.
Their recent visit to Candy’s workshop made him realize a harsh truth. High-quality equipment and modifications were incredibly expensive.
Even $10,000 was only enough for a simple weapon modification. The money they currently possessed was nowhere near enough to survive the higher levels.
He reflected on the economy of the Origin Domain.
Resources became cheaper when supply increased. That explained why beast cores became worth less over time. Once countless players started farming monsters, countless cores flooded the market. Their value naturally dropped.
He could not rely on beast cores forever. He would eventually need to find higher-value resources that very few people could obtain.
Creak.
After organizing his thoughts, Caelus pushed the wooden door open and left his cabin.
The peaceful streets from earlier were now completely different.
Large numbers of players rushed toward the town portal. Everyone looked excited. Some were even running.
Caelus reached out and stopped a nearby player.
The player looked annoyed. He was clearly in a hurry.
"What do you want?" the player asked impatiently. "Do not waste my time!"
"What happened?" Caelus asked calmly.
The player noticed how handsome Caelus was. He paused briefly before answering.
"A group of players just returned from the Domain Dungeon!" the player explained. "They are selling the equipment they found at the market!"
"If we arrive too late, all the good equipment will be sold out!"
After saying this, the player immediately ran into the portal.
Seeing everyone’s excitement, Caelus became interested.
He opened his friend list. He sent Sylvia a quick message telling her to come to the market.
He then walked through the town portal himself.
Swoosh!
The market district was packed with players. Crowds moved aggressively toward the central square.
Temporary stalls were set up everywhere. Players loudly advertised their gains from the Domain Dungeon.
"I only have five uncommon armor pieces remaining!" one shouted. "Be fast or you will lose your chance."
"Rare armor piece for sale! Bidding starts at 100,000 Origin Credits!" another loudly announced.
Several wealthy players immediately began bidding against one another. The price rose rapidly.
The atmosphere resembled a busy auction house.
Among the sellers was a familiar face. It was David Wilson.
Ryan and Jennifer stood behind him. They were helping him manage the stall.
Their booth attracted a long line. They had returned with a large amount of uncommon equipment.
David confidently advertised his stock while welcoming customers.
While looking over the crowd, David noticed Caelus.
His face immediately turned cold. He recognized Caelus as the player who humiliated him during Sylvia Reign’s arrival at the school.
"That friend over there," he swiftly called out to Caelus.
"Are you going to buy anything?"
Hearing this, everyone’s attention turned toward Caelus.
They gave him curious glances, especially considering how beautiful he looked.
"I am only looking around," Caelus replied upon hearing his inquiry.
"Then, move aside," David said, his expression turning cold. "You are blocking the way for the customers."
"I’m here to do business."
Several impatient players nearby immediately agreed.
If not here to buy, then why block the way?
"Yeah, move out of the way!"
"Stop blocking the line if you are not buying anything!"
Caelus helplessly shook his head and left the crowd.
People got too heated over things like this.
Besides, he had no interest in buying overpriced equipment anyway.
He could get it by himself.
A few moments later, Sylvia arrived after receiving his message.
The two briefly observed the bustling market together.
"We should go and check this dungeon out, Sylvia," Caelus suggested as he stared at the crowd.
"It’ll give us armor, and we can also sell the rest."
"I’m fine with that," Sylvia nodded with a smile.
If other players could clear the Domain Dungeon and sell equipment for enormous profits, then he could simply clear it himself.
He walked up to a few nearby players and asked where the Domain Dungeon was located.
After receiving the directions, Caelus and Sylvia immediately left the town together.
The scenery gradually changed as they traveled into the Origin Expanse.
Eventually, they arrived before a massive cave entrance in Misty Woods. It was carved directly into the side of a tall mountain.
An enormous spatial portal glowed deep within the cave.
Above the entrance was a large stone monument. It was engraved with ancient words.
[Domain Dungeon]
Without hesitation, Caelus and Sylvia stepped forward.
Swoosh!
Both of them disappeared into the portal, heading directly into the dungeon.
