Chapter 241: An Excuse for Sylvia! The Apex First-Kill Achievement, The Underestimation of the Enders
[Your party is the first to eliminate an Apex Beast in Misty Wood.] [You’ve obtained 10 Reputation Points.]
[Reputation Points: 10]
"Oh wow," Caelus said in surprise.
"So this is a first-kill achievement. I have heard about it from others," Sylvia murmured, stepping smoothly into his space.
Ignoring the glowing text entirely, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in for a deep kiss. "Good work, hubby."
Honestly, the talk about the achievement was just a convenient excuse to get her hands on him.
Caelus smiled, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her into a tight hug. To him, ten Reputation Points were meaningless compared to her.
Having a girl whose flawless looks could put top-tier models to shame showering him with this much affection? That was worth more than any reward the domain could drop.
"Thank you for helping me," he said softly, holding her close.
Sylvia blinked, a sudden blush dusting her cheeks. She had just been looking for an excuse to kiss him, but his genuine warmth caught her off guard.
"I love you, Caelus," she said in a sweet tone. Her voice softened into a tone that could melt anyone’s heart.
If anyone else saw this scene, they would think the two had a screw loose. Who would do such a thing as showing affection in a place like this?
"Alright, let us get going, Sylvia," Caelus said with a smile. "Let us get this over with, get our Origin Credits, and go out to eat tonight."
Sylvia nodded. "I want to eat the katsu curry they are selling down the street. There is a Japanese restaurant there."
"Let us extract the beast now," Caelus suggested.
Sylvia nodded, and they swiftly began extracting.
[Ding! You’ve extracted the essence of the Apex Mutated Flame Wind Wolf with a Rare-Grade Monster Core.]
[You’ve extracted +1 Combat Score.]
[Combat Score: 26.5 -> 27.5 (+3)]
Sylvia’s Combat Score reached 27.1.
"Oh? It gave out 1 instead of 0.8?" Caelus was pleasantly surprised. He believed it was because the beast was mutated.
"Let us get going then," Caelus said as he held Sylvia’s hand, and they walked together.
On the way, they talked a lot. Caelus filled her in on many things, such as the local food.
Eventually, they reached a staircase connected to a dome. The dome was made of a black material with glowing lines tracing through it.
Coincidentally, there were many players gathered here. Seeing the new arrivals, they all turned toward them, but just as quickly ignored them.
They were not the only ones in Misty Wood, after all. Countless players from across the globe must have found it.
"So many players." Caelus and Sylvia were dumbfounded.
"The people from the Fun Guild have been in there for six minutes now."
"At this rate, they will not even enter the top 100 on the leaderboard."
"Yep."
The players were all talking among themselves while staring at a leaderboard. It showed the top 10 names.
The first name had a clear time of 2 minutes and 33 seconds.
"Sylvia, we are going to beat that." Seeing this, Caelus immediately spoke out loud.
Hearing this, many players turned toward him.
"Here comes another arrogant bunch," a player sighed.
"Why cannot people just be normal?"
"Some people think too much of themselves. The I Am Fun Guild’s newly recruited players are in there. They are still inside, taking more than three minutes."
"The I Am Fun Guild is a place that only takes in good talents. It is one of the many second-tier guilds in America. What makes you think you can do better than them?"
If someone was in a guild, their name would naturally have an additional tag with the guild’s name. It was clear Caelus and Sylvia were not in any guild.
Caelus did not say anything.
"Then, would you guys be fine with us going next?"
"Feel free," the person next in the queue spoke. "If you are so eager to die, then feel free."
"There is no respawn here, by the way. Just saying. Either kill the beast inside or get killed."
"Thank you for the heads-up." Caelus smiled and said nothing else. Sylvia, on the other hand, glared at the players looking at them disapprovingly.
Caelus found this very cute.
So did the other players.
"Damn, miss. You are very pretty. Drop out of that guy’s party and join us."
A burly man with a smirk appeared before Sylvia.
Others were interested as well. There was even a guy with his girlfriend who looked at Sylvia with a stunned expression.
She was just that beautiful.
However, Sylvia did not even give them a glance. Instead, she stepped forward, arrived in front of Caelus, and settled herself in his embrace for everyone to see.
The players all began cursing madly seeing this.
"Miss, I think you should not enter the challenge arena. The boss is very hard. It is a Transcendent-level monster that has an insane Combat Score, and its powers are based on your level."
"A Transcendent-level monster?" Caelus’s eyes immediately lit up.
Yes sir. He would take those!
Soon, the dome blinked, and three people teleported out. There was one man and two girls. The man had red hair, and the women following him wore sports bras with armor on top. These two girls were naturally attractive because of their faces and the clothing they wore.
The man with spiky red hair had an irritated look on his face as he walked out.
"I did not enter the top 100," he said.
"The ancient ruin in Misty Wood is always tricky, Fernando," one of the players comforted him.
The girls behind Fernando, Jane and Hellan, comforted him as well. They were his harem members and trusted companions.
"You guys," Fernando sighed.
"Right, we will just try it again. If I do not get into the top 100, I will not get an ancient ruin achievement."
These players were all here for achievements. They were the greatest things a player could get in the domain and a recognition of their status.
That was important.
"I guess it is our turn now," Caelus spoke loudly, catching everyone’s attention, including Fernando and his girls.
The girls also noticed Sylvia, which caused them to wear stunned looks. She was way too pretty. As for the other guy, he hid his face, but his name was visible.
"Miss, are you not the top singer, Sylvia Reign?" Fernando recognized Sylvia immediately. The other players were most likely from another country; hence, they did not recognize her.
Hearing his words, they too began recognizing her.
"Retired," Sylvia said. "I am a full-time player now."
"Is that so?" Fernando wore a slightly surprised expression. "Are you with this fellow over here?"
