Caelus’s and Sylvia’s vision distorted. They saw colors mixing together before those colors formed a landscape before them.
They had arrived in a burning city.
They heard the sound of a blaring alarm rapidly hitting their ears.
"Where is this place?" Sylvia asked in surprise. "Why is everything burning?"
Immense heat surrounded them. He had no idea why this place came to be, but proceeding with caution was necessary.
The area around them was completely engulfed in fire. But there was a path they could take that was not fully covered in flames.
"Let us go, Sylvia. Since we came here, we should see it through to the end."
Sylvia nodded. She had no problem with it.
"This place. I feel like I have seen it somewhere before, Caelus," Sylvia mumbled under her breath as she stared at the surroundings.
The buildings might be on fire, but she could roughly still make out the structures.
"Is this not Queens?" Sylvia asked, stunned.
"Hm?" Caelus, who had not put much thought into it, was slightly stunned.
He observed closely. This was Long Island City!
"How is that possible?" Caelus was stunned beyond words.
"Did the Origin Ascension domain generate the world around us through our memories?" Sylvia proposed.
Her thinking was logical.
"That is possible." Caelus nodded.
However, just as they mused, they felt a thud on the ground.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The air around them turned hotter, but since they had ascended bodies, they did not sweat. They sustained themselves with mana, after all.
As the thought crossed Caelus’s mind, a figure appeared before them.
It was a Red Wind Wolf.
No. It was different compared to the one they met in Misty Wood.
It had flames on its legs and on its back. Every time it breathed, fire came out of its nose. It was a Flame Wind Wolf. A mutated Red Wind Wolf!
But that was the only thing they could see. Its name. The level was not mentioned.
"Be careful, Sylvia," Caelus suggested.
He took out his Ruyi Jingu Bang, and as soon as he did, the Flame Wind Wolf charged.
An aura rose around it as it used its charge skill. The following moment, its figure blinked and disappeared.
Caelus was stunned. Where was it?
His question was soon answered as his ascended body’s senses flared beyond inhuman capabilities. It was behind him!
Most importantly, its claws were rushing toward him with immense speed, dripping with a strange, boiling blood from its previous kills.
Sylvia’s eyes widened. Just as quickly, a serious look formed on her face as she activated Sanguine Genesis and Blood Generation.
She slit her wrist with her dagger. Thick, crimson blood shot toward Caelus. A cocoon of hardened blood immediately formed around him, blocking the flaming claws of the Flame Wind Wolf.
The blood cocoon, however, did not last. The instant they collided, it cracked, sending droplets of red spraying into the air.
But that was enough for Caelus.
"Get bigger, Ruyi."
Boom!
A shockwave erupted from where he stood as he closed the distance between him and the wolf. His muscles bulged as he thrust the staff toward its eyes.
Bang!
The staff landed directly on its eye. The wolf shot back in pain. A gruesome fountain of thick, dark blood burst from its crushed eyeball, splashing warmly and hissing on the hot ground. Gore and vitreous fluid dripped down its flaming snout.
Seeing this gap, he turned to Sylvia. "Sylvia, Origin Blood Blessing."
However, he did not even need to make the request. Sylvia was already on it.
A magical rune formed around her and Caelus. Life leech was immediately activated. With that, his attack speed also increased.
Caelus felt his body going completely light as he shot toward the wolf. The world itself blinked black as he erupted with power.
His figure burst through the wind as his staff plunged into the beast once more, tearing through flesh and causing a fresh geyser of crimson blood to erupt onto his clothes.
The wolf howled, sensing the attack. The following moment, the flames around its body became stronger. They coalesced together into fireblades, shooting toward Caelus in multiple waves.
There were far too many for him to dodge. He tried to move, but some managed to reach him in the end. Caelus clicked his tongue, taking the hit.
The sharp fireblades sliced his flesh. Hot red blood sprayed wildly into the air, coating the ground in a macabre display. His blood dripped heavily from his fresh wounds, and his HP directly fell below 50.
But since he had already taken damage, he had to get back the HP.
Caelus stormed in, with Sylvia joining the fray. Waves of blood swords formed in the sky as they plunged toward the wolf.
Star King’s Sword Vault was also activated as a myriad of star swords shot toward the beast.
The wolf, seeing this, howled. A shockwave erupted from it, deflecting all the swords with one howl.
"Another skill?" Caelus was stunned. This thing had three skills!
He almost cursed under his breath. Were two skills not the standard? Did it not apply to mutated freaks like this?
However, he had no time to think about that. He charged in.
It was time to use Origin Sever. He was going to take its ability to use skills! He did not know how long it would last, but this was his trump card.
He also communicated with Sylvia telepathically during this time. She was ready to unleash a barrage of attacks.

"Now," Caelus shouted. He unleashed Star King’s Sword Vault, and Sylvia utilized Sanguine Genesis to form multiple sharp blood constructs. They all plunged toward the wolf.

This time, the wolf did not have its howling shockwave skill to use. Hence, all the swords pierced its flesh.
The blades plunged deep, tearing muscle and bone. Its feet gave out, and it fell to the ground. Thick, dark red blood spurted out like a fountain from the deep holes in its body, pooling rapidly beneath it.
Sylvia, seeing this, rushed in. She planned to deliver the final blow with the blood sword in her hand. But the wolf was still alive. It formed a desperate, fireblade from its mana, which shot toward Sylvia.
Her eyes flashed red seeing this. With her immense speed, her construct swiftly turned into a shield, blocking the attack.
As soon as the attack finished, Caelus was already in the front. Shockwaves continuously erupted as he sped up. He shot into the air and shouted, "Ruyi, get bigger."
Whrmm! Whrmm!
Ruyi flashed with white light twice as it got bigger than the Flame Wind Wolf.
He grunted as he brought the massive Ruyi Jingu Bang down.
Boom!
It crashed into the wolf, shattering its skull completely and killing it instantly. A massive explosion of blood, shattered bone, and gray matter splattered everywhere, painting the burning ground in a thick, gruesome layer of gore.
