Chapter 93: After the Battle

"It depends on which perspective you’re looking from," Aria answered. "From the viewpoint of the people you were trying to save, what you did was right, but to his family, it’s a different story."

She then continued, "You put him in danger, and now, he has lost one of his arms. There is no right or wrong to your question. It’s just a matter of how you look at it."

While they were chatting, Cassandra and the others arrived.

Their expressions instantly turned sad the moment they saw his condition. Lily and David’s eyes widened while Elara’s were filled with tears of sadness.

For some reason, Virelia could not say anything to them and only lowered her head.

’I’m sorry.’

She apologized once more in her head.

"Zara, are you alright?" David approached her with a worried face.

"How is your condition?" Lily added.

"I’m fine." The light in Virelia’s eyes dimmed.

Her body was fine, but her soul was not.

"Ren..." tears fell down her soft cheeks as Elara held his hand.

She could not suppress her sadness anymore since Ren was like half of her world.

Aria placed her hand on Elara’s shoulder and said, "I will find a way to regrow his left arm later."

Elara looked up at her without saying a single word. She was drowned in sorrow, so everything she wanted to say got stuck in her chest.

Several minutes later, a nurse stepped into the room and asked them to leave. Aria returned to the organization while David, Lily, and Elara waited outside.

At 05:40 pm, David and the others left.

Elara only went home to take a shower and change her clothes.

Ren’s condition was still critical, so she wanted to always be by his side. At 09:00 pm, a nurse approached her.

When the nurse learned that Elara intended to stay in the hospital, she allowed Elara to enter the patient room, but she had to remain silent, as any noise could affect Ren’s recovery.

Once the nurse returned to her station, Elara held Ren’s hand gently and looked at him silently.

’Ren...’

She didn’t cry like before, but her heart was still filled with sadness.

"Elara, do you...hate me?" Virelia’s voice was filled with guilt.

Actually, she didn’t want to ask this question because she was afraid of the answer, but keeping it to herself made her feel uneasy.

Elara turned to her and shook her head.

She didn’t blame Virelia for what had happened to Ren since it was his decision to help and protect her.

"Thank you, Elara." Tears of relief fell down her soft cheeks.

She suddenly felt that half of the weight on her shoulders had been lifted off.

Elara walked over to her and handed her a tissue.

Virelia took it and wiped her tears away. "I will find a wood mage with regeneration magic, or a light mage with restoration magic after I fully recover."

Elara didn’t say anything again, but she nodded her head.

The duo stopped talking shortly after that since they could not make any noise in the patient room.

----

Time went by quickly and without realizing it, it was already 06:05 am. At this moment, Virelia was looking at Ren intently.

Elara was still sleeping next to him, while he was lying unconscious in his bed. Just as she was about to take an apple from the basket, she saw him open his eyes.

Knowing that he had regained consciousness, she quickly pressed the patient call button. A few seconds later, a female doctor and a mage stepped into the room.

"Doctor, he is already awake." Virelia was thrilled.

He had regained consciousness faster than expected, so it could be said to be a good sign.

The doctor examined his condition with medical equipment. After that, she ordered the mage to use light magic to check his internal injuries.

Once the mage told her the result, the doctor immediately said, "Everything looks good. You just need a little more rest, and you can go home tomorrow."

"Thank you, doctor." Ren was happy.

"As for your left arm, unfortunately, we can’t do anything about it." The doctor said none of their healing mages could regrow his arm.

"I will take care of it," Virelia said. "I will find a wood or light mage who can regrow his left arm."

"That’s good to hear." The doctor smiled.

Shortly after that, the doctor and the mage left.

"Little brother, I’m sorry." Virelia didn’t have the chance to apologize yesterday.

"Don’t worry about it. I never blame you." He had already prepared himself to accept whatever happened when he decided to follow her to the security post.

"Thank you." She had guessed he would say it, but hearing it directly from him made her feel relief.

"But next time, I hope you will value your life more. It’s good to help others, but we must look at the situation first." It could be said they were lucky yesterday, so he wanted her to think more carefully before doing something.

"Alright." She listened to him.

Ren slowly shifted his gaze to Elara.

The moment he saw her sleeping face, a soft smile spread across his face.

’It seems like she was really sad yesterday.’

He wanted to put her on the bed, but he could not do that.

When he was touching her cheeks softly, Elara woke up.

"Ren, you are already awake?" Elara was thrilled when she knew that he had regained consciousness. "I will call a doctor now."

Before she walked out of the room, he stopped her. "The doctor has checked my condition. You were still sleeping earlier, so you didn’t know about it."

"Then, what...what did the doctor say?" Elara asked in a slightly anxious tone.

"Everything is good," he answered. "She said I can go home tomorrow."

"Thank god!" Elara was delighted.

The trio continued talking.

To their surprise, Sylvie and Luna appeared a few minutes later.

She knew what had happened to him and where he was being treated from Elara. She met Elara when she was on her way home.

She didn’t visit him immediately because she had no free time and also needed to take care of her daughter.

"How is your condition, Ren?" Sylvie asked.

"I’m much better now." He replied. "I can go home tomorrow."

"That’s good to hear." Sylvie smiled.

"Big brother, where is your left arm?" Luna kept staring at the missing arm.

"It was cut by a lizardman." Even though she was a kid, he still gave an honest answer.

Luna turned to her mother. "Mother, the bad lizardman cut big brother’s left arm. Can you find it and give it a punishment?"

Before Sylvie could say something, Ren answered, "The bad lizardman is already dead, so we won’t be able to find it."

"That’s good!" Luna stated.

"Ren, why don’t you call your teacher now?" Sylvie asked.

"Why?" Ren was confused when Sylvie suddenly brought up Veronica in their conversation.

"She can help you regrow your left arm," Sylvie explained.

Ren was pleasantly surprised by her answer.

Not only him, but Elara and Virelia were also shocked.

"She can do that?!" Ren almost could not suppress the happiness within him. "But isn’t she a lightning mage?"

"Your teacher is special. She can control three elements: crystal, lightning, and wood." Sylvie had guessed they would be stunned because normally, a mage could only manipulate one element.

Ren, Virelia, and Elara widened their eyes.

’Three elements?’

Countless questions suddenly flashed through their minds.

"I know what you have in mind, but it’s better to ask her yourself." Sylvie didn’t want to risk saying the wrong thing.

"Alright." Ren understood it.

At the same time, Veronica was reading a book in her organization’s secret library. She wanted to help Ren perfect his created technique, so she continued her research.

Of course, she knew what happened in the park yesterday, but she didn’t know that Ren and Virelia were involved in the incident because the mages representing her organization didn’t tell her about it.

’This! If I add this symbol, I think the lightning can burst forth when his claw hits the target.’

She quickly made a new formation.

Since she could not try it, she decided to read the book again, in case the magic circle didn’t work.

While she was flipping the page, her smartphone vibrated, indicating that someone was calling her.

’Ren?’

She quickly picked up the phone.

"Hello, Ren. What’s wrong?" she asked.

"Teacher, can you go to the Ashford family’s hospital now?" Ren went straight to the point.

"What happened?" she was curious.

"Well, I fought magical beasts in the park yesterday, and their leader cut off my left arm." He gave a short explanation. "Mrs Sylvie said you have regeneration magic, so I want to ask for your help in regrowing my arm."

"You lost your left arm?" Veronica’s eyes widened in surprise.

"Yes," he answered. "I’m not allowed to leave the hospital now, so I can’t go to your place."

"I will go there now." She agreed right away.

Ren was happy. "Then, I will be waiting for you."

Once she hung up the phone, she left the library right away.

At the same time, Aria was talking with Cassandra over the phone. She ordered Cassandra to meet someone since that person had restoration magic.

"How is it?" Aria asked.

"He agreed, but he didn’t want money as payment," Cassandra replied. "He just wants your help if he ever needs it."

Aria thought for a moment. "I will give the answer later. I will go meet Ren now."

"Understood," Cassandra answered.

After hanging up the phone, Aria traveled to the Ashford family’s hospital.
