Chapter 92: Alessia Ashford

"Little brother..." Virelia felt like someone was slicing her heart when she saw blood dripping from the bite marks.

Ren turned to her and smiled softly. "I’m fine. It only hurts a little."

She knew that he was lying, but she didn’t say anything and only looked at him.

’Thank you, little brother.’

She didn’t know what was going on, but for some reason, her fear and worry suddenly vanished without a trace.

Of course, she still hoped they would survive.

She wanted to create many beautiful memories with him and the others, so she hoped a miracle would come and save them.

It was just that she would not regret it if they were to die there.

While she was feeling grateful for his actions, Ren felt a little dizzy. He slowly lost his blood, so his vision started to blur and his strength weakened.

’Just a little more... I need to hold on a little longer.’

Before they could reach the park entrance gate, a pangolin rolled toward them and hit his back hard.

Bang!

He was sent flying, and she was thrown from his arms once more.

Ren quickly rose to his feet and stopped the pangolin from attacking her. He stabbed its body, but failed to kill it as his dagger could not pierce its strong scales.

When he was about to carry Virelia, the other beasts charged at him together.

And as if the world wanted them to suffer more, Kragthar and a few of his subordinates arrived shortly after that.

"Khzrik kh’er zhem!" Kragthar roared in fury the moment he saw Ren.

Ren had killed many of his underlings and attacked him with lightning, so his heart was filled with rage.

Ren’s face darkened as he saw them rushing toward him.

They finally managed to escape from Kragthar and his people after a desperate struggle, but in the end, they were never truly free of him.

Ren tried to take Virelia away, but the magical beasts always stopped him. Eventually, he was forced to face them while protecting Virelia.

*Slash...Slash...

He swung his daggers as he kept paying attention to her.

He always stood back up in front of her after attacking them because she could no longer defend herself.

"GGRRRHH!" A panther and a wolf jumped at him together.

They bared their fangs and intended to bite him to death.

However, Ren could handle them without any problem.

Even though he failed to kill them, he managed to land an attack. A hole appeared in their bodies, and blood continued to drip from the wounds.

Just as he was about to finish them off, a coyote suddenly rushed toward Virelia with its mouth wide open.

’No!’

His expression turned to panic, and he changed his target instantly.

He dashed toward the coyote and thrust his dagger forward, intending to stab it.

*Thwip...

His weapon pierced its mouth, and its cry filled the air.

When he was about to launch another strike with his other hand, Kragthar dashed toward him and swung his sword vertically.

Ren tried to block it, but he was one step too late since Kragthar’s strike was fast.

*Slash...

His left arm was cut off in a single strike.

Virelia’s eyes widened as his blood fell to the ground like raindrops.

In the next second, she screamed in panic. "Little brother!"

Ren endured the pain and attacked Kragthar.

However, his strike hit nothing but air as Kragthar quickly took a long leap backwards.

"Little brother..." Virelia’s panic grew bigger when she saw his blood dripping profusely from the cut.

"It’s fine. I can still fight." Ren stood in front of her to protect her.

At this moment, he could not see his enemies clearly because his body had already reached its limit.

’No! I can’t die here! I must survive. I’ve promised to protect Elara and make my predecessor’s dream come true. I must not fall.’

Blue lightning appeared and wrapped around his body.

This was his last chance, so he decided to unleash all his power.

It was either kill or be killed.

Kragthar pointed his sword at Ren and ordered his underling to finish him off. "Ghrak zherr’kha!"

Two magical beasts charged at him.

Since he could not see them clearly, his strike missed and they managed to bite him.

However, the beasts quickly released him and jumped backward. His body was covered in lightning, so they got hurt when they bit him.

Since they didn’t want to get struck by lightning again, they changed their target. But before they could attack Virelia, Ren stood before them and swung his daggers.

Kragthar was unhappy with how slow they were in killing him, so he ordered more beasts to attack him.

Even though he was being ganged up by a few enemies, Ren was still standing. Of course, his condition was getting worse by the second because the lightning also attacked him.

A moment later, his body finally gave in and the lightning disappeared.

Kragthar and his underlings were thrilled as it was a sign that Ren could not fight anymore.

"Zugra khell’rak!" Kragthar ordered them to finish him off.

But before they could end his life, cold air spread throughout the area and the ground turned into ice, freezing Kragthar and his underlings in place.

The magical creatures were still alive.

They could still see their surroundings, but the freezing cold was slowly taking away their lives.

While they were stunned by what was going on, a gorgeous lady with a pair of ice wings on her back slowly descended from the sky.

The mature lady had long black hair and icy blue eyes.

Anyone who saw her would be mesmerized by her beauty, but none of them would dare approach her, as she gave off a chilling presence that made it clear she would freeze anyone who dared to harbor dirty thoughts about her.

The name of the gorgeous woman was none other than Alessia Ashford, Virelia’s aunt.

After Alessia landed safely, her ice wings disappeared and the ground returned to normal. She didn’t kill the magical beasts directly.

When she walked past them, the frozen creatures split cleanly in two on their own, as if an invisible blade had sliced them apart.

"Aunt!" Virelia was glad when she saw her auntie.

Alessia helped her sit up and asked, "Did you get poisoned?"

"Yes." Virelia nodded before turning to Ren. "Aunt, please save him quickly!"

Even though her life was also in danger, Virelia asked Alessia to save him first.

Alessia retrieved a potion from her space ring and gave it to her niece. "Drink this first to stop the poison from spreading further. A healing mage will arrive soon."

Virelia took the potion and drank it.

Alessia rose to her feet and slowly approached Ren.

’Did he fight the monsters with his willpower alone?’

She could tell that he was barely conscious.

She tapped his right shoulder and said, "The magical beasts are already dead. You can rest now."

And as if Ren had heard it, he collapsed right away.

Alessia immediately caught him and gently placed him on the ground. Shortly after that, awakeners from the Pillar Organizations arrived.

The healing mage quickly treated Virelia and Ren while the others scattered around the park to search for any remaining magical beasts that might still be alive.

Since Ren and Virelia needed further treatment, Alessia took them to the Ashford family’s hospital.

One of the shifters immediately called Aria, because she knew how important Ren was to their organization.

"He lost his left arm, and she was poisoned?" Aria, who was in her office, wore a serious expression after hearing the news.

"Yes, leader." She replied. "Miss Alessia just took them to her family’s hospital."

"You stay there and make sure to kill all the magical creatures. I will visit him now." Aria wanted to see his condition for herself.

"Understood." She replied.

On her way to the Ashford family’s hospital, she called Cassandra and told her about their conditions.

Like Aria, Cassandra was also shocked and worried.

She thought they were in his private training ground, so the news hit her hard.

After Aria hung up the phone, she immediately shared the information with Elara and the others.

Then, they went to the Ashford family’s hospital together.

----

Ren and Virelia were currently in the VVIP patient room. She wanted to be by his side, so she asked his aunt to place them in the same room.

While he was lying unconscious on the bed, Virelia stared at him incessantly.

She felt like someone was squeezing her heart as she saw his condition, especially when she looked at his missing left arm.

’Little brother...’

She bit her lower lip as the pain inside her grew bigger.

’Was I wrong to do that?’

A glimmer of regret suddenly appeared in her heart.

He would not have lost his left arm if she hadn’t insisted on going to the security post, but if she had pressed the emergency button, more lives would have been lost.

She only wanted to save the lives of innocent people. Never did she expect that her actions would lead to Ren losing one of his arms.

While she was filled with guilt, Aria stepped into the patient room.

She glanced at Virelia briefly before finally walking towards his patient’s bed. "How is his condition?"

"His condition is critical." Virelia answered in a sad voice. "He lost quite a lot of blood and his internal organs were badly injured so it will take him a few days to fully recover."

"I see." Aria responded.

"Leader, do you think what I did was wrong?" Virelia asked.
