Chapter 91: A Life-and-Death Situation

’Why do I feel like I’m being targeted? Do they know what I want to do?’

Several questions flashed through her mind as Virelia dodged and blocked their relentless strikes.

The surrounding magical beasts suddenly left their prey and charged at her together, as if she were a magnet that pulled everything toward her.

’This is not good. I need to press the emergency button quickly.’

She activated the Royal Feather Mirage skill to disrupt their focus and confuse them, but she still failed to escape the beasts’ circle.

Every time she tried to run toward the security post, some of the beasts blocked her path. And whenever she tried to fly toward it, the bird-type monsters stopped her in mid-air.

She was furious and annoyed.

The security post was already within her sight, yet she could not reach it because they kept sealing off every route she tried and forcing her back to where she was.

’I need someone to get their attention off me.’

She turned her head toward Ren.

The moment she saw him facing more than seven beasts at once, she dropped the idea, as he was also in a difficult situation.

While she was having a hard time, Kragthar and his subordinates walked out of the abandoned building.

At first, they headed toward the entrance gate, but after they heard a loud explosion, they changed their direction instantly.

A moment later, they arrived at the source of the sound and saw two humans facing more than fifteen beasts.

Kragthar was enraged when he saw the corpses of his subordinates scattered on the ground.

His eyes gleamed coldly, and he ordered his underlings to attack them at once. "Skrrak! Kaa’th zhar!"

Blood for blood!

Since they had killed his subordinates, they had to die as well.

Ren’s face darkened as their roars filled the air.

They were already outnumbered.

With new enemies joining the battle, it was becoming even harder to defend themselves and reach the security post.

"Zara, let’s leave this place now!" he shouted while striking the magical beasts.

He didn’t look at her since his enemies attacked him relentlessly and from all directions.

"A chance!" Virelia flew toward the security post.

Some of the beasts ran after her, but they failed to stop her.

The moment she pressed the emergency button, a massive red light shot high into the sky, piercing the white clouds and marking their location for everyone to see.

Not only that, but the sound of sirens also continued to echo in the air.

Anyone who noticed it would know immediately that magical creatures had appeared in the park.

After pressing the button, Virelia rushed toward Ren.

"Let’s get out of here!" Her goal had been achieved, so it was time to leave.

But just as she was about to take him flying, several bird-type monsters attacked them from the air, forcing them to dodge and abandon their escape attempt.

Ren and Virelia had killed many of his underlings, so Kragthar would not let them get away.

No matter what happened, they had to die because that was the price they had to pay for eliminating his people!

"Skrrath!" Kragthar roared angrily.

All of his underlings around the park responded to his call and rushed toward him. Even those outside returned immediately, as they could not disobey their leader’s command.

Ren and Virelia’s expressions turned grim as more beasts joined the fight. They were already at a disadvantage, so their chances of escaping were getting smaller by the second.

Bang!

They were sent flying into the air and rolled on the ground for several meters.

Ren and Virelia rose to their feet and tried to escape again.

However, the results were always the same.

They failed.

Kragthar’s underlings did everything they could to stop them.

They even didn’t hesitate to sacrifice themselves, so escaping from them was like trying to run through a battlefield that never stopped spawning enemies in their path.

*Roar...

Ren unleashed the Roar of Dominance skill.

When their souls were shaking, Ren grabbed Virelia’s hand and used the Tiger Leaps innate ability.

Just as he thought they had finally managed to escape, Kragthar appeared in front of them and swung his sword vertically.

Boom!

Ren and Virelia were slammed into the ground like meteors crashing from the sky.

As soon as they rose to their feet, Kragthar’s subordinates charged at them with their weapons raised.

Virelia quickly unleashed the Feathers Shield skill to protect them, but it didn’t last long.

Her shield shattered, and the strikes landed on their bodies.

Since his subordinates still could not kill them, Kragthar decided to step in. He rushed toward Ren and swung his sword forward, intending to pierce his heart.

Ren, who noticed him, immediately retrieved a sword from his space ring and welcomed his attack head-on.

Ting!

The tips of their weapons met.

Kragthar quickly spun his body and launched another strike.

The sound of metal clashing immediately filled the air.

Since Ren was not in good condition, he was at a disadvantage in the fight.

But even so, he still managed to avoid all of Kragthar’s fatal strikes.

"Die!" Virelia dashed toward Kragthar to help Ren.

But before her sword could reach him, Kragthar’s tail struck her face, sending her flying into the air.

When she was about to charge at him again, a snake beast silently slithered closer to her and bit her neck.

Virelia quickly twisted to the side to free herself.

Just as she was about to counterattack, her body suddenly went weak, and her mind grew dizzy, causing her to drop to one knee.

’I’m poisoned.’

She managed to get back on her feet, but she had no strength to raise her sword.

"Zara!" Ren rushed toward her with a worried expression.

"Little brother, I’ve been poisoned," she struggled to keep standing. "My body is so weak now."

Ren quickly grabbed her when she was about to fall to the ground. He wrapped her arm around his neck to keep her on her feet.

’We must leave this place and treat her quickly!’

He gritted his teeth as he looked at the enemies surrounding him.

’Should I do that?’

A crazy idea to use a lightning formation suddenly came to his mind.

’But I’ve never tried it before. What if it injures us badly later?’

He kept thinking about the advantages and the disadvantages.

When he remembered that he had to treat Virelia quickly, he decided to take the risk. "Zara, can you fly for two to three seconds?’

"I can, but after that, I won’t have any strength left. Why are you asking that?" She was confused by his question.

"I want to use lightning, but I’ve never tried it before." He explained. "I’m afraid it will hurt you badly."

"What about you? Can you endure it?" she asked worriedly.

"I can. It’s my lightning, so its power will be reduced if it strikes me." He lied.

"Then, let’s do that." In her eyes, it was better to take the risk since they would die if they couldn’t escape from Kragthar and his underlings.

Ren let her go and said, "As soon as I give you the signal, fly quickly."

"Un." She nodded.

Ren quickly activated the formation in his mind.

His hair danced wildly as blue lightning appeared and spread across his body, making him look like a god of lightning.

Before striking their enemy with lightning, he turned to Virelia and said, "Now!"

Virelia quickly spread her wings and flew into the sky. But since she was poisoned, she could only fly three meters above the ground.

As soon as Ren placed his palms on the ground, lightning burst out through his fingers, rushing toward Kragthar and his underlings.

They didn’t anticipate it, so the attack hit them easily.

"Aaaggghhh..." The lightning spread throughout their bodies and attacked them like a pack of small, vicious snakes.

While they were screaming in agony, Ren gritted his teeth and endured the pain.

The formation he used was completely different from the ones Veronica created, so the symbol that prevented the lightning from targeting him had no effect.

’A chance!’

He quickly caught Virelia and ran away from them.

When the lightning vanished, Kragthar’s eyes turned bloodshot and he roared in rage. "Khijr!"

All of his underlings chased after Ren and Virelia, but the distance between them kept getting farther with each passing second as he continued using the Tiger Leap skill.

Unfortunately, the goddess of luck was still not on their side.

Before they could reach the entrance gate, the beasts who returned to the park saw them and immediately charged at them.

Ren didn’t attack them.

He was carrying Virelia in a princess carry, so he focused on dodging their strikes while continuing to run toward the exit.

Bang!

One of the hobgoblins kicked his back hard, slamming them into the ground.

Virelia was thrown from his arms and rolled on the ground for several meters.

Since she no longer had any strength left, she could only watch as several magical beasts rushed toward her.

"NO!" he used the Tiger Leaps skill and dashed toward her.

Before they could bite her, Ren stood before her and protected her with his body.

"GGGRRRHHH!" One by one, the beasts sank their fangs into his body: the hyena biting his right hand, the puma his left shoulder, and the cheetah his left leg.

Even though immense pain spread through his body, Ren didn’t cry in pain because his mind was fixed on Virelia’s safety.

"Little brother..." tears filled her eyes as she saw blood dripping down his body.

He was the one being bitten by the beasts, yet she was the one who felt the pain as if there was a connection between them.

Ren attacked the beasts with his claws.

Once they stopped biting him, he grabbed Virelia and ran away again.
