Chapter 146: Chapter 146; It is confirmed!
Alina’s POV
"I went out for scavenger hunting," Lucian says, trying to keep his voice casual.
I looked at him with a thoroughly confused face. "What do you mean, scavenger hunting?"
Ragnar chimed in immediately from the side, stepping forward with a nervous smile. "You won’t know that. It is a rogue term," he says, trying to brush it off.
I didn’t touch further on the subject, sensing there was more they weren’t telling me, but I had more important things on my mind. "Alright then. Lucian, come with me."
I took his hand, and he just followed me obediently down the hall and straight to the bedroom. Once the door closed behind us, I made him sit down on the edge of the bed. I stood in front of him and told him, "There is something I have to show you."
He nods, his dark eyes locked onto mine with intense curiosity.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and focused entirely on the hidden, roaring power swirling deep within my soul. When I opened them, the room flooded with a faint, crimson light.
Lucian’s jaw dropped. "Alina," he says, his voice a mix of breathless excitement and utter shock. "Your eyes... They’re red. It is glowing red!"
I take a steadying breath, letting the power recede, and I put my eyes back in the right color.
"When and how did you...?" He trails off, completely stunned, before the realization hits him. "Is it confirmed then?"
I nod.
"Your pheromones," he says urgently, leaning closer. "Release it. Your scent."
I did as he asked, pushing a wave of my hidden aura into the small room. Lucian closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, and a look of wonder crossed his features. "It’s a completely different scent. Not the usual." He snaps his eyes open, instantly takes my hand, and says with roaring excitement, "You are an Alpha!" He searches my eyes, his face lighting up in a way I hadn’t seen in a long time.
Instead of matching his joy, I looked down, my hands trembling slightly. "I am scared, Lucian. I mean... I went from not having my wolf and being a wolfless omega all my life, and now suddenly I am an Alpha? How does this even work?"
"I have no idea," he says honestly, pulling my hands closer to his chest. "But this is fucking amazing."
He seemed so much more excited than I am, but the gravity of the danger we were in brought me right back to reality. "You can’t say a word about this to anyone," I tell him, my voice turning dead serious.
"I won’t," he promises without a second thought.
Then, he pulls me down onto his lap and hugs me tightly, burying his face in my neck. "You are really the best thing that has ever happened to me," he murmurs against my skin.
Hearing those words, I can’t help but smile, wrapping my arms around his shoulders. But then, he breaks the hug slightly and looks up at me, a lingering question in his dark eyes. "Is this the reason your bond with Aiden didn’t end? Because you weren’t really an omega?"
I shifted uncomfortably. "Maybe."
"How do you feel when you are around him?" he asks suddenly.
I let out a soft sigh, my posture stiffening. "Lucian, please, not this."
"I’m not jealous," he says quickly, trying to smooth it over, though the tightness in his jaw says otherwise. "I just want to know."
"Pretty normal," I tell him, keeping my voice even.
"Is that the truth?" he asks, searching my face.
I nod.
He smiles, seemingly satisfied for now, and he pulled me back into his chest, hugging me tightly. But as I lay my head against his shoulder, the heavy memories of what happened between Aiden and me last night came crashing right back into my mind. The way Aiden had backed me against the wall, the intense heat in his eyes... he had almost kissed me. And the worst part was, I didn’t step away. Not until I absolutely had to.
That doesn’t mean anything, I fiercely told myself, my heart hammering against my ribs. It is Lucian I love. So why... Why can’t I forget Aiden completely?
Lucian breaks the hug, completely unaware of the storm inside my head, and says, "Where is Leo?"
The mention of our son instantly cleared the shadows from my mind, and I can’t help but smile brightly. "Leo said his first word already."
Lucian’s eyes widened in genuine surprise. "Really?"
"Yes," I say, pulling him up from the bed by his hand. "Come with me, let’s go check."
We both left the bedroom and walked down the quiet hallway to the nursery. But when we pushed the door open, we realized the other rogues were already there.
Boca was leaning over the crib, making soft, playful noises as he was cooing Leo. My baby boy was laughing out loud, his tiny hands waving in the air. Ragnar was standing right beside them, a soft expression on his face. They all seemed so incredibly happy with Leo.
Standing in the doorway, Lucian watches the scene before he leans down and whispers softly in my ear, "Leo seems happy to be here. Maybe he also doesn’t want to leave."
I smiled faintly and walked closer to the crib, leaning against the railing. "I see everyone missed my baby."
The sudden sound of my voice made them all look up. Instead of pulling back, they seemed to cheer loudly, which instantly caused Leo to mimic them, cheering and doing his little excited jump in the crib.
Ragnar crossed his arms, a massive grin on his face as he looked at me. "Alina, you didn’t tell us Leo was already speaking!"
I tilted my head, folding my arms over my chest. "Really? And what exactly did he say?" I asked with a heavy sarcastic tone.
"He said I am the coolest uncle," Ragnar declared proudly, causing the entire room to break out into a fit of laughter.
I shook my head, a genuine smile playing on my lips as I reached down into the crib. I carefully lifted my son into my arms, holding him secure against my hip. "Leo, come on. Speak."
The moment I said it, Leo’s little face lit up. He immediately opened his arms wide toward Lucian, leaning his tiny body out and wanting him to carry him.
"Baba," Leo babbled clearly.
Hearing the exact word he had used for Aiden caused my left eyebrow to rise a little.
