Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Are you cheating on me?
Emily’s POV
"You did amazing, Davon."
A slow, confident smile spread across Davon’s face as he leaned in close, his shadow blocking out the light. "Can I get a kiss at least?"
I pressed a single finger against his chest, stopping him dead in his tracks. "Not quite yet. Your job isn’t halfway done."
"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Alina still hasn’t fallen for you yet," I said, dropping my hand and crossing my arms. "And I need that to happen soon."
Davon shrugged, a smug air of certainty settling over his shoulders. "You don’t need to worry about that. It’ll happen."
I gave him a sharp nod. "Good."
He paused, his gaze tracking the line of my neck before he asked the one question that had clearly been burning a hole in his mind. "Did you really sleep with Lucian?"
I let out a harsh, bitter scoff. "I did try. But his fucking dick couldn’t even get up for me. Even after he was completely drugged, he just kept on muttering her name. It pissed me the fuck off." I clenched my teeth at the memory, the sheer humiliation making my blood boil. "But that won’t stop me."
Davon took a step closer, his voice dropping into a low, persuasive register. "You really don’t need Lucian, Emily. I can be that man for you."
"Aww, that’s cute," I cooed, patting his cheek with mock affection. "But you know me. The more they resist me, the more I want it. Lucian has planted something in me that I just can’t let go of, even if I try."
Davon’s eyes dropped to my stomach. "Is he the father?"
"No, he isn’t," I snapped, a wave of irritation washing over me. "But I wish he was."
"It’s Aiden’s, right?"
I paused. A calculated shift went through my mind. It’s best to lie, I thought.
"Yes," I lied smoothly, keeping my voice level. "Aiden is the father, and honestly, I like that he is. I get real power once this child is born. And with this baby here, Aiden won’t ever have to think about his so-called firstborn again."
Davon watched me for a beat, then let out a dry chuckle. "Aiden is also in love with Alina, you know."
A deep frown marred my face. "Don’t even mention that," I hissed, my chest tightening. "He doesn’t love her. His ego is just bruised, trust me. It’s only because Lucian showed interest in her—that’s the sole reason he’s obsessed with the idea of having her back. It’s not love."
"I don’t think so," Davon murmured.
"Shut up," I snapped, cutting him off before he could fuel my anger any further. "What about those rogues? Were you able to take care of them?"
"I was able to leave them with some nasty injuries," he said, a cold grin touching his lips.
A wicked smile spread across my face. "Aiden still hasn’t struck yet. The others will definitely think he was the one behind the attack, but it doesn’t matter." I adjusted my bag on my shoulder, suddenly feeling the exhaustion of the day. "I have to go."
"Come on, sweetheart," Davon groaned, reaching for my waist. "Don’t I deserve your pussy tonight?"
"No," I said, slapping his hand away. "I’m not in the mood."
To appease him, I leaned up and planted a quick, empty kiss on his lips before turning around. I got into my car and drove straight back to the pack house, the silence of the road allowing me to mentally map out my next move.
The moment I unlocked the door to my bedroom and stepped inside, a dark figure shifted in the dim light.
"Fuck! You scared me," I gasped, clutching my chest.
Aiden was standing near the window, his frame rigid. "Where did you go?"
"Oh..." I cleared my throat, forcing my voice to sound casual. "I just went to meet up with some friends."
"Who?"
"You don’t know them," I dismissed smoothly.
A grim smile touched Aiden’s lips. Then, in the blink of an eye, the smile vanished.
Before I could even register his movement, his hand shot out, wrapping firmly around my neck. He slammed me hard against the wall. The impact knocked the air from my lungs, and my hands immediately flew to his wrist, trying to pry his fingers loose.
"What are you doing?!" I choked out.
"Are you cheating on me, Emily?" his voice was dangerously quiet, his eyes completely dark.
"No, I am not!" I thrashed against his grip, gasping for breath. "Fucking let me go!"
To my surprise, he actually did. He released his grip entirely, letting me slide down the wall slightly as I burst into a fit of violent coughing.
A strange, chilling smile played on his face as he stepped back in. He reached out, his fingers surprisingly gentle as he began to arrange the stray hairs back into place around my face.
"If you want your freedom from me, Emily... I am more than happy to give it to you," he whispered, his voice smooth and entirely detached. "In fact, you would be doing me a massive favor."
He patted my cheek, the coldness of his demeanor sending a shiver down my spine. "So if you are cheating, make sure you keep it hidden. Because when I find out... you will absolutely hate yourself."
Without waiting for a response, he turned on his heel and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
I stood there, rubbing my sore throat, my mind racing. What the hell has gotten over him?
The answer hit me instantly. Alina.
She did this. She must have said something to him.
A wave of pure, unadulterated fury took over. "I will go teach her a fucking lesson," I growled to the empty room.
I stormed out of my quarters, marched down the grand hallway straight to Alina’s bedroom door, and raised my fist, knocking on it loudly.
