Chapter 126: Chapter 126; I will safe him!

Emily’s POV

"You really showed up here after trying to kill me?" Knox asked, a slow, entirely unnerving smile spreading across his pale face as he leaned back against the couch.

I crossed my arms, glaring down at him with pure coldness. "Why the hell are you smiling?"

"I’m just so fascinated by you, Emily," he murmured, his dark eyes tracking my every movement. "Fascinated by what kind of woman you truly are."

I rolled my eyes dramatically, letting out a sharp, irritated breath. "Why didn’t you tell Aiden about us? I mean... you survived the paralysis. You easily could have blown my cover the second he walked into this room. Why didn’t you?"

"You still don’t get it, do you, Emily?" Knox chuckled softly, the sound scraping against my nerves. "I love you. And I will never, ever put you at risk. Even after you literally tried to end my life." He tilted his head, that maddening smile never leaving his lips. "I was never going to tell Aiden a single thing."

"Why didn’t you just say that before I almost killed you?" I snapped, stepping closer to the bed, my fingers twitching.

"Because I wanted to see exactly how much you hated me," he replied smoothly, his voice dropping to a low, intense rumble as he slowly pushed the sheets back and sat up. "And I guess you hate me a lot. But let me tell you one thing, Emily—you can never push me away from you. You can try to kill me as many times as you want, but it will never work. We are destined for each other. Can’t you hear it? Can’t you hear my wolf calling out to yours?"

A wave of utter disgust washed over me. "Please, Knox. Just stop. We are strictly not destined, and we will never be together. Whatever happened between us in the past was a mistake—a mistake that I am actively trying to fix. So do yourself a massive favor. Go find someone else to obsess over, because it is never going to be me."

"Why can’t it be you, Emily?" Knox called out, his gaze burning into mine with an unyielding, terrifying fixation. "It is always going to be you."

"You are a completely lost cause," I muttered, turning my back on him. "And I am out of here."

"You can’t ever get rid of me, Emily!" Knox screamed after me, his voice echoing off the sterile walls as I slammed the door shut. "No matter how much you try!"

I marched out of his house , my heart hammering violently against my ribs as I threw myself into the driver’s seat of my car. I pushed my hair back frantically, trying to process the absolute insanity of the past few hours. Killing him didn’t work. How the fuck did he survive that dose?

I let out a ragged breath, staring at the steering wheel. But as the initial panic faded, a dark realization settled in. It was no problem. Now I knew the true extent of his obsession . He was so completely obsessed with me that he would protect my secrets at all costs. He wouldn’t dare try to harm me, no matter what I did.

But as one problem shrank, another flared. What the hell is Davon even doing? I thought bitterly, starting the engine. He still hasn’t won Alina over. What the actual fuck is taking him so much time?

I sighed heavily, putting the car in drive and heading back toward the mansion.

When I finally arrived, I slipped through the grand entrance, trying to keep a low profile. As I walked down the long, carpeted hallway, I suddenly caught the sound of voices. I halted, peering around the corner. Aiden was standing near the study, flanked by several of his high-ranking pack members. They seemed to be smiling about something, an air of dark satisfaction hanging over them.

Because I am naturally nosy, I stepped closer, pressing my back against the wall to catch every single word of their discussion.

"Three of our men have been badly injured and are currently in critical condition," one of the pack warriors reported, though there was no real sorrow in his voice. "Those rogues got a hold of them near the border."

"Make sure they get the absolute best treatment available," Aiden ordered, his voice cold and commanding.

"Not only that, Alpha," the warrior continued, a sharp smile touching his lips. "The scouts report that they are actively mobilizing. They are coming straight for us."

Aiden let out a dark, booming laugh. "Let them come. This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. This time... I will finally be able to end Lucian once and for all."

My blood ran cold. I broke into a sudden sweat, my eyes widening in absolute shock behind the wall.

"I have his definitive weakness," Aiden sneered, his tone dripping with a lethal, venomous certainty. "I know exactly what will kill him."

My hands began to tremble. No. No, no, no.

"He wants to take my child and Alina away from me," Aiden growled, his alpha presence flaring so violently I could feel it from the hallway. "I will never, ever allow him to have the happy ending he thinks he deserves. He can go join his dead parents."

Terror shot down my spine at the mere thought of Lucian being killed. Pressed flat against the hallway wall, my hands wouldn’t stop shaking and my breathing came shallow and ragged.

What the hell does Aiden mean—he has Lucian’s weakness?

It made no sense. Lucian was one of the most powerful, ruthless Alphas alive; he wasn’t supposed to have weaknesses. Yet the chilling certainty in Aiden’s voice left no doubt. He wasn’t bluffing. He’d found a real vulnerability that could end Lucian.

I swallowed hard, shoving panic aside. No matter what trap Aiden and his warriors were planning, I would never let any harm come to Lucian.

Then a new, darker idea took root. If I secretly betrayed Aiden and saved Lucian from the ambush myself, he would be completely indebted to me. He’d finally see my loyalty, stop pushing me away, and open his heart.

A slow, wicked smirk spread across my lips as I stared down the dark hallway.

Aiden thought he was the mastermind of this war. In truth, he was only setting the stage for my victory.

Just you wait, Lucian, I thought, smiling triumphantly. I’m coming to save you.
