Chapter 127: Chapter 127; Am I an Alpha?

Alina’s POV

I stood in front of the vanity, staring intensely at my own reflection in the glass. I felt entirely different for some reason. It wasn’t just the lingering shock of realizing I was no longer wolfless, but something deeper, shifting beneath my skin—something completely foreign that I couldn’t quite grasp.

You are different from the others, Alina, my wolf’s voice suddenly echoed in my mind, her tone heavy and laced with a strange reverence.

How? I asked her internally, gripping the edge of the sink. How am I different? I’m just an Omega who finally found her wolf. That’s it. So how can I be different?

There are some questions that you simply need to figure out for yourself, she replied mysteriously, her voice fading back into the recesses of my consciousness.

I let out a soft breath, looking down at my hands. Just an hour ago, while I was cutting vegetables in the kitchen, the sharp blade of the knife had accidentally sliced deep into my index finger. But the exact second the blood started to well, the skin had knit back together right before my eyes. The wound completely vanished in less than three seconds. That kind of rapid healing wasn’t normal, even for a shifter with a wolf.

Alina, you are special, my wolf whispered one last time.

Before I could ponder her words any further, a pair of warm, strong arms wrapped securely around my waist. Lucian pulled my back against his solid chest, resting his chin on my shoulder. "What are you thinking so deeply about?" he murmured, his voice a low, soothing rumble against my ear.

I leaned back into his embrace, staring at our joined reflection. "Lucian... do you honestly think there is anything different about me?"

"Yes," he replied instantly, a small smirk touching his lips as he trailed a row of soft, lingering kisses down the side of my neck. "I love you even more today. That’s what’s different."

A breathless half-laugh escaped my throat. "Lucian, please, I’m being serious," I said, gently turning around in his arms so I could face him directly. "Look at me. Do I look like I’ve changed to you?"

Lucian tilted his head, his gaze sweeping over my features with intense adoration. "Did you change your hairstyle?" He reached up, his fingers gently brushing through the strands. "Looks exactly the same to me."

"Not that," I insisted, my expression hardening into absolute seriousness. "Lucian, you remember when Ilya poured that horrific substance on me, right? The chemical that should have ruined my face permanently? But I was completely recovered in no time, without a single scar. And it’s not just that. Remember the day you were forced to almost marry Ilya? The sudden, overwhelming power I felt to fight her... none of it makes any sense to me."

Lucian’s playful demeanor instantly vanished. His hands slid down to rest on my hips, his brow furrowing as he recalled those moments. "Alina... hmm. About that... I didn’t want to overthink it at the time because I was just grateful you were safe. But about that power? Yes. I definitely felt it. The exact second I touched you on that altar, the electric shock that surged through my body was entirely out of this world."

"Lucian, what does all of this mean?" I whispered, my heart hammering against my ribs.

"The Moon Goddess did say there was something incredibly special about you, Alina," he said, his eyes locking onto mine with an unyielding intensity. "And I already know you are special."

"Lucian, is it possible that I might..." I trailed off, the words catching in my throat. I shook my head, suddenly feeling foolish. "No, forget it. I don’t think it’s even remotely possible."

"Alina, look at me," he commanded softly, cupping my face in his large hands. "What were you going to say? What do you think it is?"

I swallowed hard, looking up into his eyes. "What... what if I am an Alpha?"

Lucian went completely still. He stared at me, his expression unreadable, and for three long seconds, he didn’t say a single word.

"I know it sounds completely crazy," I rushed out, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment as I tried to pull away. "Just forget I said anything—"

"No, it strictly isn’t crazy," Lucian interrupted firmly, tightening his grip on my waist to keep me close. "A female Alpha isn’t something that happens often because it is incredibly rare, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible, Alina."

My eyes widened slightly. "So... you actually believe I could be an Alpha?"

"Yes," he said, a breathtaking, brilliant smile spreading across his face. He leaned down, pressing his forehead against mine. "Do you have any idea how amazing it would be if you are actually an Alpha? We would definitively be the strongest couple in existence."

A genuine smile broke through my anxiety. "You would really be happy about it? You wouldn’t feel threatened?"

"Why on earth wouldn’t I be happy, Alina?" he chuckled, his eyes sparkling with pure pride. "This would be absolutely awesome."

I smiled, resting my hands against his chest. "It might just be me being completely crazy, though."

"The option isn’t closed off at all, and I truly believe it might be the case," Lucian murmured, his thumb caressing my cheekbone. "A female Alpha is a rarity, but you have always been naturally dominant. Only you have the power to completely control my wolf, Alina. So it is very possible that you are a female Alpha."

The sheer certainty in his voice warmed my entire chest. He pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me in a tight, protective hug. As I buried my face into his neck, inhaling his scent, a profound sense of peace washed over me.

An Alpha... I thought to myself, tightening my grip on his shirt.. The thought terrifies me because what if it only brings me destruction because anything rare means I am cursed and what will become of me?
