Chapter 125: Chapter 125; Game on!

Lucian’s POV

The sunlight filtered softly through the window, catching the gentle curves of Alina’s face as she rested near me.

"Alina..." I started softly, testing the weight of the question before speaking it into existence. "Is there any hope at all? Any way to change the council’s mind so you never have to leave this place again?" I reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "I love it when you’re here. I always do."

"I don’t know, Lucian," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "But hopefully... I won’t ever have to go back to that place anymore."

My heart gave a hopeful bound. I shifted closer, my gaze locking onto hers with a sudden, fierce earnestness. "What if we get married?"

Alina froze. She pulled back slightly, her brow furrowing into a deeply confused look. "You... you want to get married to me?"

"Obviously," I replied without a second of hesitation, a genuine smile breaking across my face. "Becoming your husband is literally one of my biggest dreams, Alina."

A small, tender smile mirrored on her lips, but it didn’t reach her eyes. The warmth in my chest began to chill as she let out a quiet sigh. "Lucian, I would love that. Truly. But... I don’t think I ever want to get married again."

The words hit like a sudden frost. The bright smile faded completely from my face. "You don’t want to marry me?"

"It’s strictly not that," she explained quickly, reaching out to cup my jaw, her touch soothing but firm. "I need to overcome my PTSD from marriage first. My last marriage didn’t go well at all, Lucian. It nearly broke me. The mere thought of putting myself through a marriage right now isn’t something I can handle. I hope you can understand that."

"I understand. I will never, ever force you to do anything you don’t want to do."

Relief washed over her features. She leaned forward, pressing a tender, lingering kiss against my forehead. "That’s exactly why I love you," she whispered against my skin.

A rush of warmth flooded back into my veins. I opened my mouth to tell her just how much those words meant to me, but before a single syllable could escape, a sharp, urgent vibration rattled against my thigh.

I pulled my phone out. The screen flashed with an encrypted notification from Boca.

Boca: Emergency. You need to come to the new property immediately.

Alina noticed the immediate shift in my posture, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Is there a problem?"

"No problem at all," I lied smoothly, forcing a calm expression onto my face as I stood up. "I just need to go check on something quickly, and then I’ll be right back. Okay?"

"Okay," she replied softly.

The second I stepped out of the house, the mask dropped. I threw myself into the driver’s seat of my car, slammed my foot onto the gas pedal, and tore down the highway. The engine roared in protest as I drove dangerously fast, my mind racing with dark premonitions about the new estate.

The moment the car screeched to a halt at the coordinates, I threw the door open and stepped out.

My eyes stretched wide in absolute shock. The breath caught violently in my throat.

"Who could have done this?!" I roared into the empty air, raw anger and deep annoyance lacerating my throat. I marched toward the rubble, my hands clenching into tight, trembling fists. "This house... this house was meant for Alina,Leo, and me to move into! It was supposed to be our sanctuary!" I turned on my heel, glaring at the destruction with a terrifying fury. "Who the hell knew about this project?! Who knew enough to get it destroyed?!"

Boca stepped out from the shadow of a surviving stone pillar, his expression grim and heavy with shame. "I have absolutely no idea yet,Lucian . But I know one thing for certain—we have a definitive informant in our midst. Someone is actively leaking our secrets to our enemies. No one outside of our inner circle knew this estate was being constructed."

"I swear to God, Boca, if I do find the person responsible for playing these games behind my back, I will personally ensure that person’s life comes to a violent end. I don’t care about the consequences."

"I will find out the truth for you,Lucian . No matter what it takes," Boca promised, bowing his head deeply before turning to leave the property.

I stood alone amidst the ruins of my dream, a jagged, humorless laugh breaking from my chest. They really didn’t know the kind of monster they were dealing with. They thought they could burn down my future and walk away unscathed. But they were about to find out exactly who I was.

The lead came faster than expected.

By nightfall, Boca’s operatives had tracked the extraction route of the demolition crew. We caught them trying to slip across the border.

Now, the three men were on their knees on the damp concrete floor of an abandoned warehouse, their faces bloodied, broken, and badly beaten from the interrogation. I paced slowly in front of them, the heavy thud of my boots sounding like a death knell in the quiet room.

I stopped directly in front of the center man, my shadow looming over his trembling form. "Who sent you to destroy my property?" I asked, my voice dangerously smooth.

The man swallowed hard, a mixture of blood and saliva dripping from his split lip as he stuttered frantically. "It... it was Alpha Aiden! Please! Alpha Aiden made us do it! He paid us and gave us the coordinates!"

The name ignited a roaring fire in my chest. My anger grew tenfold, a dangerous growl vibrating in my sternum. Aiden. I should have known. I should have known that desperate, pathetic bastard would resort to something this low.

"Lucian, what should we do with them?" Boca asked from the shadows, his hand resting on his blade.

"You’re going to go right back to him," I stated coldly, looking down at the sniveling cowards on the floor. "You’re going to deliver a message directly to his doorstep. Tell him we will most definitely retaliate for this. But for now..."

Before they could even process my words, I moved with blinding, supernatural alpha strength.

Slice. Slice. Slice.

A chorus of agonizing, blood-curdling screams tore through the warehouse as three severed ears hit the concrete floor, leaving the men clutching the sides of their heads as dark crimson soaked through their fingers.

"Consider that just a down payment," I whispered, stepping over the pooling blood. "This time, it’s just your ear. Next time, it will strictly be your life."

I wiped the blade clean, a dark, venomous smirk touching my lips as I looked out into the night toward Aiden’s territory.

You want to play games with me, Aiden? Fine. Game on.
