"Have a daughter?" Mika asked again, surprised.

"Yeah. Kiki is pretty lonely all by himself. If we could give him a little brother or sister to play with, wouldn’t that be great?" In truth, Tristan Grayson had a selfish motive he didn’t dare to voice. The fact was, Mika still refused to file for a marriage license with him. Even though they were set to be engaged next month and married by the end of it, he couldn’t help but worry. Her personality had done a complete 180 lately. If she backed out before the engagement, what was he supposed to do? He’d thought it through, and the only foolproof method was to have more children. ’That’s how I’ll tie her to me for good!’

"Tristan, there’s something I need to tell you." Mika was touched by Tristan’s words, but a troubled look still crossed her face. She sat up straight and spoke in a low voice.

Tristan’s heart gave a slight lurch. He looked at the woman beside him, worried. "What is it?"

"I’m not planning on having any more children."

"Why?" Tristan’s expression darkened as well, and he asked uneasily.

Mika steeled herself. "I only ever want one son, and that’s Kiki. He will always be my only son. I don’t want my love for him to be divided among other children. It’s what I owe him in this life. So, I can’t possibly have another child with you." ’I owe Kiki so, so much,’ she thought. ’I can’t have another child and divert any of my love away from him.’

Tristan furrowed his brow in confusion. "How can you say that? Kiki will always be our precious son. Even if we had another child, it wouldn’t take away any of our love for him." ’Why would Mika think that way? Even with another baby, Kiki would still be our treasure.’

"In any case, I am not having another child," Mika said coldly, her expression hardening as she stood up from the sofa.

Seeing that Mika was angry, Tristan quickly reached out and grabbed her hand tightly. "Okay, okay. If you don’t want to, then we won’t. We’ll listen to you. Whatever you say, goes."

Mika turned, her eyes red, and nodded. "Tristan, I’m sorry."

Tristan stood up and pulled her into a tight hug. He sighed softly and comforted her, "It’s my fault. I wasn’t being thoughtful. And actually, just having Kiki is great, too. This way, you’ll have more time to spend with me, and I won’t have another kid trying to steal you away from me."

As Rory watched Kiki’s parents hugging, her eyes began to well up with tears.

Kiki called Rory’s name twice, but she didn’t respond. So he stood up from the floor and walked over to her. "Are you crying again?"

"Says who? I am not crying." Rory crossed her arms and turned away so Kiki couldn’t see her face.

Hearing the two little ones talking, Tristan released Mika, frowned, and asked in a low voice, "Why is Rory staying with us?" ’Is it okay for a child that young to be away from her parents?’

"My brother’s busy, so he asked me to look after her for a bit." As she spoke, something occurred to Mika. She turned her head and asked coldly, "Tristan, you don’t have a problem with her being here, do you?" ’If Tristan really minds her staying here, then I’ll just leave,’ she resolved.

Tristan tapped her on the head in mock disapproval. "What silly ideas are you getting in that head of yours? How could I possibly have a problem with Rory? I’d be thrilled if she lived with us forever. That way, you’d have to stay with me every day..."
