Chapter 458: Chapter 458: To Say I Love You From This Moment On (58)

"Cassian Jennings, I tried to force you to marry Amelia back then, and you refused. What good does saying all this do now?" After he spoke, Aiden Avery coldly brushed Cassian’s hand away, turned, and strode off.

Cassian watched Aiden walk away, then looked at the tightly closed door. He walked over and knocked on the door, his voice hoarse and trembling. "Amelia, I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes. I hope you can give me a chance to truly cherish you."

Hearing his voice, Amelia raised her head. She pushed herself up from the floor, walked to the side of the bed, and lay down, pulling the covers tightly over her head.

But the voice outside continued, relentlessly.

"Amelia, please give me a chance. Can we start over? Let’s not lose each other again."

...

Cassian didn’t know how long he spoke, only that his voice eventually grew hoarse. Still, there was no sound from the woman in the room.

’He knew she was really giving up on him...’

He crouched by the door, head in his hands, and began to sob in anguish.

’Why did I make a mistake like that? Why?’

’I finally found her again, only to lose her forever...’

Aiden Avery, who had left earlier, now returned with several men in tow. They dragged Cassian away.

Suddenly, the hallway fell silent.

Aiden walked to the door and knocked twice. "Amelia, I know you can hear me," he said, his voice cold. "Focus on getting better for now. Once you’ve recovered, you’re going back to Noridia and staying out of trouble. Mom and Dad will go with you."

Aiden lowered his hand and was about to turn and leave when a woman’s cool reply came from inside the room.

"I understand."

Hearing Amelia’s words, Aiden’s eyes started to burn. She was, after all, his own little sister, the one he’d doted on since they were children. How could he ever be truly heartless with her?

"Amelia, this time... don’t disappoint all of us again."

With that said, Aiden stuffed his hands in his pockets and left.

Inside the room, Amelia sat up in bed. She gazed out the window, her eyes holding a vacant, heart-wrenching look...

「The next day.」

When Selene Osborne arrived, she brought lots of delicious food with her.

She had assumed Amelia wouldn’t eat, just like before. But to her surprise, the moment Amelia saw her, she grabbed her hand and asked for something to eat.

Seeing this, Selene Osborne couldn’t help but burst into tears. Her little girl was finally coming back to life.

Looking at this version of Amelia—the same girl who loved to talk and laugh—Selene Osborne said through her tears and smiles, "Whatever you want to eat, sweetheart, Mommy will buy it for you."

Amelia shook her head, her eyes filled with tears. She wrapped her arms tightly around Selene Osborne’s waist and said in a choked voice, "Mom, I’m so sorry. For the past few years, I’ve only ever made you worry."

"Silly girl, of course not. It’s my fault. I didn’t protect you properly, and that’s why my sweet daughter had to suffer so much."

"No, it’s my fault. I’m the one who did something wrong."

...

’Before, after leaving Cassian, she hadn’t known what the point of living was. But now she did. She still had her family. Maybe... maybe she really should live the rest of her life for them.’

That afternoon, Tiana and Leo Joyce came to see her.

’She hadn’t expected Tiana to be the one to find her. But in hindsight, it made sense. It could only have been Tiana, because she had always been the most observant person.’

’Perhaps Tiana and Leo were the real happy ending. They were the two people she cared about most, and her two best friends...’
