Chapter 455: Chapter 455: From This Moment On, I’ll Say I Love You (55)
She turned to look at the newcomer and was taken aback. "Tristan?"
"Mm." Tristan Grayson murmured, taking her hand and leading her toward a nearby car.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to pick you up."
"Pick me up?" ’But I haven’t even made a call.’
Seeing Mika Summers’s confused expression, Tristan Grayson reached out to ruffle her hair and said with a smile, "Aria Joyce told me you were here, so I came to get you."
Aria Joyce? Mika Summers’s expression soured. "You and Miss Joyce... didn’t you two have a falling out?" She distinctly remembered that not long ago, it was because of her... ’How did they make up so quickly?’
"Yeah, let’s not talk about her. Kiki’s still home alone."
"Oh." Mika Summers replied coolly, not pressing the issue. ’Maybe I’m just overthinking things.’

「Anhurst Hospital.」
Amelia Avery hadn’t spoken a single word since she woke up. She just leaned against the hospital bed, her eyes vacant, without even shifting her position.
"Amelia, please say something. Or just... just cry. That would be okay, too," Selene Osborne said, crying as she took Amelia’s hand.
"Amelia, it’s all my fault. If I’d known something was going to happen to you, I would have assigned more people to protect you." At this, Selene Osborne’s sobs grew more intense.
But Amelia seemed not to hear her mother’s cries, remaining motionless with a blank expression.
Seeing his sister’s state, Aiden Avery furiously pulled Selene Osborne to her feet. "Mom, stop bothering her. Just let her die."
"How can you say such a terrible thing? Amelia is your own sister!"
Aiden Avery scoffed and said angrily, "Mom, I don’t have a sister like this. Look at her, like a ghost. That’s not Amelia. My sister died more than two years ago. *That* was my sister."
Hearing Aiden’s words, Selene Osborne wailed, "I don’t know what our family did to Cassian Jennings in a past life for him to harm my perfectly fine daughter and leave her like this..."
Seeing his mother crying so hysterically, Aiden Avery clenched his fists and said harshly, "Mom, stop crying. If she wants to die, then let her. If she wants to live, then she needs to find the will to pull herself together. If she can’t, then we’re better off without a sister and daughter like her!"
They had all worked so hard to pull her back from death’s door, but she herself seemed determined to die. Aiden had never been more disappointed in her than he was at this very moment.
All his patience for Amelia had run out.
Aiden forcefully dragged Selene Osborne out of the room.
Only after the door to the room clicked shut did Amelia seem to snap out of her stupor.
She turned her head toward the closed door as tears streamed from the corners of her eyes...
’Is my brother disappointed in me? But how could he possibly know how much pain I’m in? This pain... it makes me not want to live...’
’Why did they save me? Why...’
’Wouldn’t it have been better to just let me die?’
’If I were dead, my heart wouldn’t ache. If I were dead, I wouldn’t be in agony. If I were dead, it would all be over...’
’Only by dying could I finally stop yearning for Cassian Jennings...’
’My mother was right about one thing. I must have owed a debt to Cassian Jennings in a past life, so I’m here in this life to repay it...’
