Chapter 454: Chapter 454: From This Moment On, I’ll Say I Love You (54)
Ian Shaw’s face turned beet red, then deathly pale. ’Fucking hell, why did that sound so damn creepy?’
He remembered how he’d advised Mika Summers to stay away and never come back...
A shiver ran down Ian Shaw’s spine. He forced a smile and said, "Tristan, it’s what I ought to do. But I just remembered, I might have something else to take care of."
With that, Ian Shaw turned to leave.
But Tristan Grayson’s voice was cold as he called out, "Stop! Ian Shaw, you’re right, you do have a lot to do. I’m getting married soon, so you’ll be staying at the company for a while. For the next six months or more, you’ll be handling all of my work."
"Why? If I’m handling everything, what are you going to do?" Ian Shaw sounded like he was about to burst into tears.
"I’ll be preparing for the wedding, of course. After that, my wife and I are going on our honeymoon. I won’t be back for at least a year, maybe a year and a half."
"A year and a half?" Hearing Tristan Grayson’s words, Ian Shaw was so pissed he could spit blood.
’Is this guy really planning to drop everything and do fuck all the moment that woman returns? Is he just going to wash his hands of everything?’
’A classic femme fatale! That woman really is an enchantress. She has my friend completely under her spell!’
「Sovereign Pictures, the CEO’s Office.」
Mika Summers looked at Silas Kent, momentarily at a loss for words.
However, Silas Kent spoke first. He stood up and walked toward her. "Now that you’re back, don’t overthink things. Just focus on your work for now."
A complicated expression flickered in Mika Summers’s eyes as she nodded.
Silas Kent thrust the file in his hands into Mika Summers’s arms. "We have to entertain an important client tonight," he said coldly. "You’re coming with me."
"Oh."
Hearing her cold reply, Silas Kent couldn’t help but give a self-deprecating smirk.
’Is she planning on being this distant with me from now on?’
Silas Kent left the office and went to his own office at Sovereign Pictures.
After Silas Kent left, however, Mika Summers breathed a small sigh of relief.
She looked down at the file in her hands, and her expression instantly soured. Her grip on the papers tightened...
As the workday was ending, Mika Summers sent a text to Tristan Grayson, telling him not to come pick her up.
Usually, when Silas Kent went to business meetings, he would bring Jessica Archer.
Tonight, however, he only brought Mika Summers.
A little after eight o’clock, they arrived at the Empyrean Hotel.
When they reached the private room on the second floor, Aria Joyce was already there.
She stood and gave Silas Kent a polite hug.
Aria Joyce released Silas Kent, her gaze shifting to Mika Summers. A smile playing on her lips, she walked closer and extended a hand. "Miss Summers," she said with a laugh, "about what happened last time, I think it was all a misunderstanding. I hope you can forgive me. I was just acting on impulse back then."
Hearing Aria Joyce’s words, Mika Summers extended her own hand and shook it. "You’re being too kind, Miss Joyce."
Mika Summers was distracted the entire evening.
She listened to Aria Joyce and Silas Kent talk without joining the conversation.
It was nearly ten o’clock by the time they finished.
Outside the Empyrean Hotel, Silas Kent offered to drive her home, but she refused.
She watched Silas Kent’s car drive away, her brow furrowing slightly. She walked toward the main road, but there didn’t seem to be any cars at this hour. She waited for more than ten minutes, but no taxis appeared.
Just as she was about to call Tristan Grayson, someone suddenly tapped her on the shoulder...
