Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Say I Love You From This Moment On (Part 2)
With that, Jessica Archer left the hospital room.
Mika Summers was left alone in the room. Emotionally drained, she lay on the bed and closed her eyes.
She didn’t know how long she lay there, but eventually, her emotions began to settle.
She sat up, threw back the covers, and got out of bed to go see Silas Kent.
When she reached the ICU, Jessica Archer shot her a cold glance before turning and leaving immediately.
Her expression was pained as she walked to the hospital bed. She sat on the edge of it, gazing silently at Silas Kent.
Her eyes were filled with sorrow. ’Jessica Archer was right. Silas Kent saved my life. If he hadn’t rescued me back then, I probably would have been dead long ago.’
’Everything I have now is because of him. Without Silas Kent, there would be no Mika Summers today.’
’Jessica Archer has every right to be angry. But I can’t use my feelings as a way to repay him...’
「In another hospital room」
Tristan Grayson sat up in his hospital bed. His eyes were devoid of emotion as he stared blankly out the window.
’I haven’t seen Mika Summers since I woke up.’ He wanted to ask how she was, but he didn’t dare. After all, he was the one who had dragged her into this mess. ’What right do I have to see her again...?’
’She has every right to hate me. After this, she must hate me even more...’
Ian Shaw came in and saw Tristan Grayson staring into space. "I’ve already sent men to find Gia Miller," he said coolly, "but they haven’t found her yet. Don’t worry, the police are looking for her, too. I’m sure she’ll be caught within a few days."
"Okay. And for now, put more men on protecting Mika Summers," Tristan Grayson said faintly, pulling his gaze away from the window.
At this, Ian Shaw said angrily, "Tristan, I’m telling you, you need to keep your distance from her. Just look at yourself! Think about all the trouble you’ve been in since that Mika Summers came back. First, you pissed off Aria Joyce and put the company in a tough spot, and now you’ve nearly gotten yourself killed."
’I swear, I don’t know what kind of she-devil that Mika Summers is! To reduce my friend to this...’
"Ian, you wouldn’t understand what’s between her and me. This is my penance. It’s what I deserve to endure." ’The way I treated Mika in the past... this is probably my karma.’
At that thought, a bitter smile touched Tristan Grayson’s lips. "Besides, I’m the one who dragged her into this. You know perfectly well what happened with Gia Miller had nothing to do with Mika Summers."
The mention of Gia Miller made Ian Shaw even more furious. "If I’d known what kind of woman Gia Miller was, I would’ve put a bullet in her back then! Going after you is one thing, I can almost forgive that!!! But she never, ever should have kidnapped my sister. That bitch has a fucking death wish!"
"How’s Lily Shaw?" Tristan Grayson asked, looking down at his right hand as the light in his eyes dimmed.
"She’s a little shaken up, but she’s fine otherwise."
"That’s good..." He had wanted to ask about Mika Summers, but found himself saying Lily Shaw’s name instead.
’Maybe I really should keep my distance from her. That way, I won’t drag her down with me again...’
But the thought that there was no longer any possibility between them made his heart ache with a piercing pain...
’If I had known from the very beginning that I would fall in love with her, I never would have missed my chance with her, and I certainly wouldn’t have hurt her...’
’I would have cherished her, doted on her, spoiled her, and made her the happiest woman in the world. But now, all of that is impossible...’
Because there are no "what ifs." In the end, Tristan Grayson was destined to lose Mika Summers...
