Chapter 401: Chapter 401: Saying I Love You From This Moment On (Part 1)
Just as Mika Summers was growing faint and on the verge of passing out.
Suddenly, Lily Shaw stood up. Standing on the bed, she shouted toward the main entrance, "Brother, we’re in here! All of us are in here!"
Hearing Lily Shaw’s voice, Mika Summers struggled to stay conscious. She forced her eyes open and looked forward, just in time to see a fire engine drive in.
A team of firefighters also rushed inside.
In her daze, she thought she saw Ian Shaw and Aiden Avery...
She knew they had been saved. A sense of relief washed over her, and clinging to Tristan Grayson, she collapsed...
「Anhurst Hospital.」
When Mika Summers woke up, three days had already passed.
She looked at Jessica Archer sitting by her bedside, furrowed her brow, and pushed herself up into a sitting position. "How is he?" she asked in a low voice.
Jessica Archer pushed up her glasses, her expression grim. With a cold sneer, she said, "Excuse me, President Summers, but which ’he’ are you referring to? Mr. Grayson, or Mr. Kent?"
Jessica Archer’s words made Mika Summers’s expression sour instantly. "Mr. Grayson," she said, her voice cold.
"Oh, Mr. Grayson. He’s not dead yet."
"Jessica Archer, have I done something to offend you?" Mika Summers couldn’t understand what she had done to make Jessica speak to her like this.
Jessica Archer, still with that cold sneer, said, "President Summers, you haven’t offended me. On the contrary, it seems I’ve offended you."
"Jessica Archer, are you upset because I had you transferred from Mr. Kent’s side? If you don’t want to work for me anymore, just be direct. I’ll call Mr. Kent right now and send you back." When she first arrived in a place like Austerra, Mika Summers had learned a great deal from Jessica Archer. All this time, she had believed that among all the company’s employees, Jessica was the only one who truly respected her, the only one who understood all her efforts and knew she hadn’t climbed the ladder through connections.
But now, Jessica Archer’s attitude toward her was no different from any of the other employees in the company, and that was something she couldn’t accept...
"Heh. President Summers, the moment you wake up, you don’t ask about Mr. Kent’s condition, but immediately ask about your ex-husband. Don’t you think that’s outrageous? President Summers, you need to understand something: Mr. Kent is the one who saved your life."
Although Jessica Archer’s words infuriated Mika Summers, she heard the implication. Her voice trembled slightly as she asked uneasily, "What happened to Silas Kent?"
"Three nights ago, when Mr. Kent heard you were in trouble, he rushed to save you. He got into a car accident on the highway."
Mika Summers’s heart leaped into her throat. "How is that possible? H-How could he have gotten into a car accident?"
"That’s a question you should be asking yourself, President Summers. Who exactly did you piss off so badly that Mr. Kent ended up in a car crash in your place?"
"What do you mean? Jessica Archer, explain yourself." ’A car crash in my place? How could that be possible?’
"Someone tampered with your car, President Summers. It was leaking gas and the brakes were shot. That’s why Mr. Kent crashed. Otherwise, with his driving skills, there’s no way an accident like that would have happened."
"—"
"President Summers, people should know how to repay the kindness they’re shown. You, more than anyone, should know how well Mr. Kent has treated you."
Jessica Archer’s words sent Mika Summers collapsing back onto the bed. She squeezed her eyes shut as tears streamed from the corners. "Silas," she asked, her voice hoarse, "how is he now?"
"Mr. Kent is out of immediate danger. He’s been transferred to the intensive care unit."
