Chapter 400: Chapter 400: A Love With Nowhere to Go

Tristan Grayson forced a smile. He wanted to hold on, to make up for his past mistakes...

’But this time... it looks like I really can’t go on...’

The feeling of powerlessness left him utterly heart-weary...

He didn’t say another word. He no longer had the strength to speak. His head drooped, and he passed out.

Seeing Tristan Grayson’s head hanging low, his eyes closed, no longer speaking, Mika Summers completely broke down.

’How could he fall asleep at a time like this? How could he just fall asleep...?’

"Tristan Grayson, wake up! You can’t fall asleep! Tristan..."

"Tristan Grayson, you bastard! How could you do this to me!"

"Tristan Grayson, wake up, just wake up..." Mika Summers screamed his name, struggling with all her might. When she saw the flames closing in on them, she used every last ounce of her strength and wrenched her hands free from the ropes.

She quickly untied the rest of the ropes on her body and, trembling, knelt behind Tristan Grayson to untie his.

Just then, the intense heat from the surrounding inferno woke Lily Shaw.

She opened her eyes to see the blaze and shot up from the bed in terror and confusion. "What’s going on? How did I get here?"

At that, her eyes fell on Tristan Grayson. She scrambled off the bed. "Tristan? Why is Tristan here too?"

"Just stop talking and help me untie him! Otherwise, we’re all going to die in here." Mika Summers’s hands were covered in blood, the pain so great it had turned to numbness...

Lily Shaw nodded and quickly knelt to help untie Tristan Grayson. Mika Summers stood up and looked at the fire all around them. There was no escape route. Suddenly, an idea struck her and she asked urgently, "Your phone! Do you have your phone?"

"Yeah, yeah, I do! Hang on." Lily Shaw had just finished untying Tristan Grayson. She hurriedly pulled her phone from her pocket and gave it to Mika Summers.

Mika Summers took the phone and immediately tried to call Silas Kent, but there was no signal. The call wouldn’t go through...

Lily Shaw helped Tristan Grayson onto the bed. Seeing the awful expression on Mika Summers’s face, she asked uneasily, "It won’t connect?"

"There’s no signal. This time, we’re really dead." Mika Summers handed the phone back to Lily Shaw. After speaking in a cold voice, she turned and sat beside Tristan Grayson. She carefully removed his clothes, and tears fell as she looked at his wounds.

"We’re gonna die, we’re gonna die! How can there be no signal?!" Lily Shaw jumped onto the bed, waving the phone around, trying to find a signal, but it was no use.

This place was a dead zone. There wasn’t a single bar of service...

Finally, Lily Shaw ran out of energy. She collapsed onto the bed and started to cry. "We’re really going to die! WAAAH! I’ve never even been in a relationship! How can I die now?! WAAAAAH..."

Listening to the other woman’s cries, Mika Summers’s brow furrowed tightly. "Stop crying. Try to accept it. Even if we don’t die now, we’re all going to die eventually."

"But I don’t want to die! There are so many things I haven’t done yet." ’If she died now, her whole life would have been for nothing. Twenty-nine years, and she hadn’t enjoyed a single day of it...’

’She swore that if she got out of this alive, she would live for herself! She’d live the life she wanted and stop slaving away at her miserable job every day...’

’But it was obvious now. She had no chance of getting out alive. She was going to die here...’

The more she thought about it, the more wronged and cheated she felt, and her sobs grew louder...

The woman’s wailing gave Mika Summers a headache. Her expression grim, she dragged Tristan Grayson’s body backward until they were against the wall. She held him tight, watched the roaring flames, and let out a low, self-deprecating laugh...

’She never thought she would die like this. But maybe... this isn’t so bad...’

’At least I won’t be leaving alone...’
