Chapter 201: Orcus, blood and bone

"Took you long enough."

Ray always knew Orcus was different from other weapons; it had a soul of its own. They had talked and become friends in his previous life. But even the crimson star didn’t show that much intelligence, with its rarity being higher.

Ray laughed at the voice ringing in his head, "How was life with elves?"

An ancient answered, "Boring."

"I thought so." Ray felt a sadness in his heart. "I figured it out."

"It’s clear in your heart." The voice became louder, "I miss you; it’s an unfortunate destiny that we can’t ever see one another."

"Why me?" At that moment, it became sure that the one who found him was Orcus, not the other way around.

"Becuase, I think you will see it in my place. Blood angel... It exists. The edge of the world." The voice carried a weight behind a human’s comprehension.

If Ray had to list the mysteries of the world, a place that behind that the universe didn’t exist would have been his number one.

"I won’t promise that I will reach there."

"Maybe, but I have already chosen you as my last vessel." The ancient voice faded away in the distance, "Goodbye, blood angel."

From the beginning, Orcus had been only a heart; the brain had been lost in the passage of time. Its sorrow and loss had carried its weight to the heart, losing the only other being that it knew, yet there would have been a narrow path for them to meet one another.

It needed to be reborn from a new, however at its prime, reviving as a giant was impossible, so the heart took the form of an incomplete weapon. If one day, someone could fix it, it could meet the lost friend once again; however, for that, it needed to pay with its consequences.

Ray had no last words with his lost friend; his destiny was going to change by Orcus on his side.

"Raise your glory!" A force took over his heart, an invader spread in his blood system; its touch embraced him like a caring mother. The only task that Ray needed to do was to let the heart take a part of his brain.

Its control spread like wildfire, reaching his brain at last; the main part began. Ray had to endure as the weapon got made from scratch inside his body.

No wave of pain came for him, only mental pressure, something that Ray excelled in controlling.

From his own bone and blood, a new weapon came into being.

His hands pulled out the new scythe slowly out of his chest, a spine as long as his own height, with a blade made out of bones. The only difference in the design of the scythe lay in the skull that connected its snath to the blade; inside the empty eyes now blood boiled.

"Oh..." Ray read through the system again; he had got only one ability, and if he wanted to reach level 13 now, he had to gather enough resources for all the levels before that. "For my base stats I should level up for real."

Disappointed from the change, he read the only ability he had gotten; just from the first glance, a delighted expression took over his face.

It was an ability related to his pure magic; it had a very long description, but in short, it let Ray mimic a magic that he had a grasp on its structure.

"Can I make piercing magic with this?" He remembered every detail about it. Pouring his magic into Orcus, a white aura covered the tip of the blade; it was only enough for one strike.

His magic returned to his body; now that he had his hand on a piece of it alone, it meant he could mass-produce it way more easily.

A new tab had been opened on his system too;

"I have 130 million dark crystals now, but I need ten times this just to level up now!" The thought of leveling up for now was unnecessary; his abilities and a crafting station were the first priority.

His gaze returned to the hurricane; a new land waited to be conquered by him.

More ants were coming out of the tunnel; most of them were hunted by idrils or voice hunters. The rest that escaped flooded toward Evelyn’s base.

"These insects don’t know the thing awaiting them is even worse." He wanted to see Cindi too; suppressing his lust became harder with each passing day.

The voice hunter entered his land; its tentacles hunted hundreds of the smaller ants with one strike. After tasting a few times, Ray was sure that only voice hunters existed in the whole hurricane; if he made sound in one place and teleported, repeating the same thing, nothing would have happened.

His grip on Orcus tightened. "Time to get rid of that ugly bastard."
