Chapter 197: Soul technique

Having been dead two times, Ray had good control over his soul. But whatever the girl was doing was behind the rules of what he had seen; a soul couldn’t affect the physical world by itself.

Something was missing; otherwise, everyone could have used the same method. A piece that had to be special about her.

During the fight Ray kept an eye always on her soul; the only two moments she lost control of her soul to be seen was when she teleported. A white fox followed her body; it had no ripples in it, a pure soul.

"How much has she trained her soul to reach such a stage?" Training one’s soul took way more time than one’s magic; for that simple reason, Ray never followed the soul attacks.

With the answer clear to him, Ray wanted to stay down after the attack and utilize the new technique that he had learned, but his heart still wanted to fight her.

"If it’s not as pure as hers, it should still help..."

Ray let his soul leave its cage; a dark aura started to cover his skin. His soul took over his fingers, replacing them with claws, with a tail and four other hands growing from his back.

He didn’t have control over half the new transformation; however, he roared with his muscles ready to attack.

"His soul is so vicious, a monster..." The woman moved to the front line. "Should we stop the fight?"

Scarlet, happy with the outcome, opened a can of fruits. "Emi is going to win, but she will take a few hits before that."

In the arena, Ray charged toward his opponent; the only pieces of his soul that he could control were the two claws on his hands in the air; the others just moved in the air.

"How can a person’s soul be so unhuman?" The girl flew in the air, "Let me cleanse you."

Doing the tornado attack again, she tested how much Ray could take in his soul. The few times his hands hit one another, causing him to take another vital hit to the chest.

Her sword went for Ray’s right hand, yet his tail saw the attack coming. Like a frenzied beast, Ray didn’t let her catch a breath.

It didn’t matter how much he got hit as long as he could hit back; their fight turned into a durability fight with both sides only able to land small damage.

"Why are you enjoying this?" Emi asked with her sword blocking his claw.

Ray didn’t respond; some people just didn’t understand the pleasure of a fight that they had to put everything into.

Licking his lips, Ray became prepared for the last trump card that he had.

His tail swung to her right to block that; the girl attacked from above to block his tail; however, before it could land, Ray’s soul disappeared. With her speed, the sword landed on the ground.

A hand stopped her other blade; before she could stand up again, Ray’s kick landed on her knee. Before she could scream, Ray took her wrist, like a piece of twig; it joined her leg.

"You had a rather cute face..." Ray gathered the last remaining energy he had in his fist and hit straight to the middle of her face.

Dust rose from the impact as a trembling Ray came out of it. He fell to his knees; no energy had remained in his body, just enough to keep him conscious.

No one made a single sound; everyone kept their breaths in.

"Evelyn, Am I seeing this right...?"

"Did Emi just lose?"

Scarlet giggled. "She will stand up again, but can Ray survive an angry fox?"

"He will withdraw." Aria said with confidence; in their small encounters, she had a clear idea of how he handled matters.

The ground started shaking; Ray could barely stand up anymore. From the dust a new beast emerged. Ray could sense her new form as clear as day: 13 tails behind her back and a fox head above her head.

Cheers began again; only one time before she had used this form, and that was against a legendary immortal whom she defeated in the end. The outcome was going to be decided very soon.

"I lost." Ray yelled loud enough for the whole arena to hear him, yet his opponent ignored her surroundings.

"Coward..."

"You are an insult to men..."

The insults came from all sides. Ray didn’t give the slightest care about them; if they wanted, they could take his place to face his foe.

A red angel came between them; the presence alone made the girl regain her senses.

"I’m so sorry, Red Queen..."

The Red Queen just shook her head before turning toward the man on the ground, "I grant you the title ’Unshaken Beast.’"

"What a shitty title." Yet Ray didn’t dare to say his words out loud.

Green flames surrounded both of them, healing all their wounds and returning all their energy.

Being able to see again, Ray wanted to see what the Red Queen looked like, but she had been gone. Instead, the girl in the sky was giving him death stares.

"You have no honor!"

"I don’t fight to keep my honor; I fight to win."

Meanwhile, someone in the VIP section kept her phone in hand and laughed at the person next to her, "100 billion crystals, look at that, Aria!"

"Go sleep with him to celebrate it."

"I might!"

On the other side, Cindi was preparing to leave too. Seeing the two going back and forth, they had something that no one in their squad had; they were friends!

Cindi had not bet anything, but Evelyn had lost a few hundred million, so she had left with an angry face.

The doctors were taking Ray and Emi for checking if their bodies were not hurt; seeing the scenery, most of the crowd had left the arena.

The closest thing to an idol that Mars had was Emi; people kept an eye on all of her actions, seeing her get beat up by a random person made most of them mad.

"Rankings of the most hated person on Mars are going to be interesting by tomorrow."
