Chapter 196: White cloud sword

"I present to you a friendly duel between Emilious, the high guard of the forgotten city, the master of the white cloud sword, and the conqueror of skies, versus the blood angel."

After the announcement, cheers from the crowd reached Ray’s ears, but he couldn’t see any of them. The Colosseum used holograms to separate them from the crowd.

Two guards had come after him, teleporting him straight into the middle of the arena. "Kind of good; I didn’t want to see the city by those guys next to me."

Apparently a big part of Mars culture was based around gambling; checking the odds, the chance of Ray winning was 0. No person had put any money on him winning; still, near 40 billion crystals were put on his opponent.

"Let’s fight with honor." The girl bowed to Ray; she had worn a white robe, with her fox ears and tail moving in the air. With a small facial structure and foxy eyes, she had a cute face.

"Let’s fight with honor."

In the VIP section, a woman spit her wine on the table.

"Scarlet!"

"Sorry... Sorry. That was very funny."

Cindi glanced at the two immortals from the goddess squad; both had come to watch the spar. Unlike the Scarlet, their side was calm with her mother sitting between her and Evelyn while the others had to sit like good kids behind them.

"Lady Scarlet, you seem to have a history with the person; what do you think will happen?" A woman with the same features as the girl in the arena asked the grey-haired woman.

"Only one person bet that High Guard will be pushed to her limits. That’s me!"

Cindi and Evelyn exchanged glances, both thinking the other person was the one who bet on that outcome.

"Interesting... But I have confidence that he can’t face the soul technique."

Two swords were between them as the fight began. Ray sensed something wanted to cut his shoulder.

He jumped back. "All magic is blocked... How the hell!"

His opponent, with small steps, picked up the two swords. She swung her sword in the air; on the other side, Ray dodged an invisible slash barely. His instinct told him to run away as soon as possible.

"You are acting purely on your instincts... That’s gonna fail you so badly." Her figure charged toward Ray.

In a second, Ray sensed thousands of attacks at the same time. His mind was overwhelmed with so much data at the same time.

Fighting with no healing was the opposite side of how Ray usually fought; in that situation, even a hit could mean his loss.

With a spin, the girl sent two more slashes, followed by herself.

Taking a step to the left, the tip of a sword with six attacks from behind came for him. Bending himself to his back, Ray dodged the sword; his leg wanted to land a kick on her chin, but she simply used it as a ground and jumped to the sky.

Losing his balance, Ray punched the ground to send himself higher, yet three slashes cut his shoulder badly.

In the air, the girl spun around herself at inhuman speed.

"Fuck..." Ray ran as far as he could from her; in a second the attack came, a tornado of slashes with barely any safe space between them. The girl sending more slashes in the air toward him didn’t help that much.

Pushing his legs to the limit, Ray ran around the girl; the slashes cut his legs from time to time; however, he dodged most of them perfectly.

A sword cut through the air for eyes. "Did she teleport...?" With no choice, Ray let the sword take his left eye; in hope of counterattacking, he tried to punch her face, but the sword penetrated the palm of his hand.

Ray’s forehead crashed straight into her nose; the sound of it breaking reached his ear. Using her free hand, the girl struck his leg, but Ray hit her face again.

He dragged the sword out of his hand; one of his fingers was lost, but he didn’t care. Before the blade could find his leg, Ray’s fist would land on her face.

The girl, in an instant, teleported back. Blood flooded from her nose and Ray’s blood from her swords.

"Why did she back off?" Everyone in the VIP section was surprised; a punch in the face was nothing.

"His aim was her spine." The red queen said with a calm voice, "Prepare to stop the match at any moment."

"No," the mother of the girl said with an emotionless tone. "It would be a disgrace to our family’s name."

In the arena, the girl made the distance, attacking from a long distance. Trying to make Ray bleed until she found an opening.

The bad omen came out of nowhere. Ray wanted to jump, but a stone on the ground came out of nowhere, causing him to lose his balance.

"Fu..."

A sword cut his other eye, "death by a thousand cuts." Like a dance, she cut Ray in any place possible. Circling around him, no place remained on his body that didn’t have a mark of her swords.

Finishing her move with a kick, she sent Ray flying to the hologram wall.

Among the cheers of millions of her fans, Aria said with a mocking tone: "Someone lost 100 billion dark crystals."

With a giggle the woman behind them tried to comfort her, "Lady Scarlet, it happens to the best of us..."

"It’s not finished yet." The red queen rose from his seat. "I want to see this from up close."

"The winner of the match is ...."

All the cheers stopped at once; Emi turned around with an angry face.

Ray’s robe had turned into nothing, with cuts all over his body; blood covered his whole body. He had no eyes, but Emi felt she was being watched by him from all sides.

"You attack with your soul; it has nothing to do with your magic... That way you have an advantage in here, but you can hide it very well, probably because of extreme soul trainings."

Ray put his hands on the ground, like a beast ready to attack. "Why don’t we even the field a little?"
