Chapter 195: Protestors
Evelyn woke up with someone slamming their fists on her door. Checking the hour, it was early in the morning. "Who is it?"
"Evelyn, those nature guys are protesting downstairs; I will go back to sleep.
She noticed the sound of her squad mate and footsteps that became distant with each step.
"I’m going to get a headache today." She chose a simple robe and went to deal with the people she hated the most.
On the main floor and the space outside, thousands of people were sitting on the ground, with their leader yelling some stuff to her staff.
"Raya, what the fuck are you doing again?" Being the twin of her squad member and an immortal himself, Evelyn couldn’t simply just get rid of him.
The boy with no hair on any part of his face walked toward Evelyn with an angry frown. "As the mayor of the forgotten city, I’m just baffled; I wanted to bring an army and show you how cruel you are..."
Evelyn’s eyes lightened with a dangerous pink color. "Now be careful. What the hell is going on?"
"Don’t act like you don’t know!" The angry boy threw his phone to the ground. "The tribe of red wolves near your base was the last of their kind, and you knew that very well!"
"Just shut up and tell me what the hell had happened."
"They have gone extinct since last night! Our scans show that none of them have survived in the hurricane as they were butchered one by one!"
"Exint?" Evelyn’s eyes went wide; Ray had asked Cindi to craft a weapon that night. With how he had been missing for four days, it made a lot of sense, but a whole tribe of red wolves plus their kings should have been way higher than his capabilities.
"Who is the culprit?"
"Me."
All eyes turned toward the new voice, Ray’s body covered in blood, his smell caused everyone to cover their noses.
"Ray! What the fuck are you doing here?"
"He is level 10..."
Ray shrugged, "I have a crystal farm that I wanted to sell to you."
Seeing the ignorance in his face, Raya’s blade attacked straight to his neck.
Time itself stopped; blood of Ray froze in his veins. An icy spear was on the neck of the person that wanted to attack him.
"I told them to be careful..."
No one dared to move; Evelyn’s words cut through their souls with coldness.
Another man teleported between them; he had the exact same features as the attacker. Both had short grey hair and no hair on their faces. "Calm down, everyone."
Cindi and Khan both teleported next to Evelyn, and on the other side a girl with fox ears and a fluffy tail came into the tower.
The new girl pulled out Raya and dragged him to his back; everyone else just left with their tails between their legs.
Among all the death stares that everyone gave one another, Ray said with his casual tone: "Care to share what happened?"
Cindi stepped in front of him. "All that matters is the city of the forgotten tried to attack our guest."
"And Evelyn wanted to kill my little brother."
"If I wanted, he would be dead."
If a conflict rose up, Ray had to stand between a few immortals; the losses were immense. "Everyone is ok; there is no reason to drag this on."
The ice around the throat of the man in the back finally melted. "Emi, he is the one who killed all the red wolves and now has the audacity to talk like this."
"You did what?" Cindi asked with a voice louder than she expected.
"You know, I killed their king, and the rest just wanted revenge." Ray tried to hide the enjoyment he had when killing them one by one: "An act of self-defense."
"I ask for a duel with this monster."
Ray looked at him again; his level was higher than him for sure. "It’s not fair; my magic won’t have any effect on him."
"A duel between immortals; both sides can’t use magic."
"I’m in."
Evelyn narrowed her eyes. "She is the one who will fight you, idiot."
"Ok, I’m out." The girl’s stance was enough for Ray to understand she was not someone to fuck around with; even against four immortals, her hand was prepared for an attack.
"I will fight instead." Evelyn said, her stare sending daggers to the girl.
"Oh, fuck off." Ray turned around to face the silent girl, "If it’s not a death duel, I don’t have a problem."
"Five hours from now on, in the main colosseum of the city." Her hand took the grip of the man behind him. "And take a shower."
After the two left, Evelyn burst into laughter. "You are so fucked."
"Why?"
Cindi sighed, "She is the high guard of the city. After she cut a few limbs just surrounding it."
The two male immortals just left them, like nothing had happened. Evelyn gave the hairless man a death stare before he left.
"Is it always like this?" Ray asked with curiosity, "On such a small argument they were ready to fight to the death."
Evelyn, for the first time since his arrival, checked on Ray; blood dripped from his robe, making a puddle on the ground. Memories from their intimate time rushed to her mind with muscles of his chest visible. Shaking her head, she threw away the thoughts. "Go get ready; watching someone beat the shit out of you will be fun."
A notification came for the two women at the same time. Reading the message, Cindi showed it to Ray: "Emi has announced her fight with you in hours."
"The news of you killing the red wolves is spreading too."
"Do people really care about them?" Ray doubted that people really cared about wild animals that would eat them if they had the chance.
"It’s just a trend."
"Go get some rest."
Ray let his muscles relax. "See you." Alone in his room the first thing he did was to go for a hot shower.
"Trouble is gonna find me anyway..."
