Chapter 186: First day on Mars

Ray had been on his way for one week, flying nonstop, and teleporting large distances helped at times. Overall he enjoyed the silence and the view of space. Planet Earth got smaller and smaller, with his target getting closer and closer.

A red planet called Mars, the reason that all immortals went there was a simple reason: Mars was covered with crystal farms. Way more than Earth, yet a rare planet like that attracted aliens, and it had its own biome too.

Monsters in their own grades that if one hunted them, the system would give rewards.

"The first layer is so shit..." The first layer of Mars was its surface, beneath the deadly gases a dry and desert-like biome that was filled with monsters that were mostly poisonous.

At first that was all that humans knew about the red planet, yet as immortals conquered more ground, they understood that another planet existed inside the planet they called Mars. Very narrow tunnels that were protected by stronger monsters led to the second layer.

Second layer was mostly unknown becuase of the dangers in shape of unknown monsters, once a group a whole squad of the strongest immortals went there and none of them had returned alive.

Getting closer to the planet, Ray for the first time could see how much bigger it was compared to earth, triple the size of earth.

"So where is Evelyn’s base?" Ray knew about two places on Mars: first, the headquarters of the Goddess Squad, which was made in the northern pole of Mars; and second, the city of the forgotten, where normal people lived.

The city was the main point of conflict between the immortals; it was made in the center of the safest crystal farms, with immortals constantly arguing which side would get the better grounds. Each year they tried to expand the boundaries of the city, yet each time they failed.

"Those books never said anything about the southern parts of Mars, so it should be Starblaize territory." Ray flew toward that part; iron dust made the planet red from afar, giving it a blood-like shape like his magic.

Ray sighed, "Guess the exploration should remain for tomorrow." He was too tired to search half a planet for Evelyn’s base; he needed a shower and some good food if it was possible on this planet.

"Where is Evelyn based?" Ray sent it to a certain red person.

In a minute a voice came from next to him: "Look who has made it this far."

For some time Ray had been inside the territory of Mars; teleporting was near impossible for him. "I heard no one can teleport freely on Mars..."

"I’m born here!"

"Oh." After that Ray saw her beauty, a white suit, and a short ponytail. "Wow."

"Flirting is not going to work for you. Let’s go." Cindi pointed at a place to their east and summoned her wings.

Ray followed in her footsteps; she had slowed down still, but Ray had to try his hardest to catch up to her.

Red clouds awaited them; jumping into the red mist, he had no worries about their poison; his magic would have taken care of any magic at that point.

"Not gonna give any advice?" Ray’s voice couldn’t reach her with their speed, so he just used their systems.

"No. Evelyn will tell you the basics. To be honest, I don’t know what is best for a newcomer either."

Passing through the clouds, the ground of Mars finally showed itself. Entering the planet for the first time, Ray could sense eyes from all sides on him. One of them was different, filled with killing intent from the north.

Answering the wicked eyes, Ray activated his eye of terror; his vision jumped between spaces with speed that he lost himself in. Something tried to block him, but he past it like a piece of cake.

Aria stood on top of a tower; to answer back, Ray showed no sign of fear. "Killing intent is too much; it’s just my first day." Someone kicked him out from the place, and his vision returned to his eyes.

"What the fuck you just did?" Cindi had a puzzled face; what she witnessed shouldn’t have been possible.

Ray shrugged. "It’s my immortal ability; it’s kind of like the higher entities’ gaze."

"I know that... All the bases on Mars have tight defenses against all kinds of invasion. " Cindi made a flame portal. "Try to gaze at me."

At first he was kind of disappointed with the ability: "It’s kind of cool but nothing useful." Now with how Cindi had reacted, he hoped for it to be something useful.

Repeating the same steps, he saw Cindi inside a lab with a frustrated look on her face.

"It’s weird," Cindi returned to her side. "Yours seems to ignore all types of defense, but I could kick you out easily."

"So is it someone in a lifetime generation power for god’s sake?"

Cindi gulped, keeping her laugh inside, "No, unless you want to see me in a bath."

"Knew it."

The two continued their way to the east. "So did you guys find anything about the third layer?"

"Don’t bring that up; everything is a mess for now about it, and there are only theories." She sighed, "After the season of flood I will work on it personally."

"What is that?"

"Evelyn will tell you all the details; we should be there in any moment."

From afar Ray could see a set of buildings floating in air; because of horrific earthquakes, no one built constructions on the ground. Some material on Mars lets everything float.

At the center of the base a tower rose to the sky; on earth, Ray’s family tower was one of the biggest in height, yet compared to what he saw, it was a joke. Like a spiral, smaller towers were made next to it, each getting shorter as they reached the corners of the base. The smallest one was the size of Ray’s tower.

"Wow..."
