Chapter 258: Chapter 258: Famine (1)
" What? What’s happening?" He looked at Annie and she sighed.
" Well, that will be hard, Famine’s presence is effecting the entire world now, now just the human world.
At first, he could only affect a small area but in the past few months, his influence has spread to both the human world and the realm beyond the mist."
Upon her explanation, he touched his stomach, " Is that why I’ve been feeling a bit hungry?"
They nodded, they felt it too but it was not as severe as it for others since they were werewolves.
That might not be the case if they got too close to Famine. Adrian grew quiet and his face twisted with confusion.
" If that’s the case wouldn’t most of the people die of hunger?"
" Well about that, the witches came up with a solution. While temporary it managed to save many lives.
It’s a potion, Famine’s authority affect consumables making them inedible but this potion is not a consumable.
It’s poison and needs to be injected through the veins, its main function is causing constipation and bloating.
While it isn’t perfect, it managed to alleviate extreme starvation but as a poison, it does have harmful effects.
You get a constant stomachache so most people have been living with pain for the past few months.
It’s even worse in the human world, millions had died before the witches managed to react.
But based on their fast reaction, I suspect this poison potion was already in production before Famine even arrived." Annie explained.
He nodded, " I see, then we need to deal with Famine first, the sins can be dealt with later, they’re not as much of a threat."
Everybody nodded, they took understood that, the sins were self serving but the Horsemen were dedicated to destroying everything.
Adrian stood up, " Where are you going?" Annie asked.
" I need to test something." He teleported away before she could ask another question and a few minutes later he came back holding a corpse of a Gadra.
The Gadra looked like a mixture between a hyena and a hippo, it was huge standing at a height of four metres.
He cut it open and took out its heart then encased in silver transparent ice that chilled the entire room.
This was his lunar esper version of his ice element, it was extremely cold reaching temperatures nearing absolute zero.
Then he placed the massive heart down and waited. " How long does it take for food to rot normally?"
" It depends on your location, in the human world, it rots as soon as it touches your mouth.
For crops or preserved food, they rot within hours, they’re still consumable within a few minutes of rotting.
But you’ll definitely get sick and you will be hungry even sooner, in fact you get more hungry after eating that rotten food."
He nodded and waited, they talked and organised the palace, led by Suzie and Fred until deep into the night.
Hours had passed and Adrian finally went to check the heart and as expected, it was stilk fresh.
Even Famine cannot effect food encased in ice almost reaching absolute zero. He broke the ice but just as he was about to eat the heart it rotted.
Right in front of his eyes it turned into rotten flesh swarming with disgusting green worms, he could feel some kind of power in those worms.
No wonder guy get hungrier after eating these worms, they were infused with Famine’s authority.
They basically drain the energy in your body giving you an extreme state of hunger which will lead to your death not long after.
He sighed, " Yeah, I’ve decided, we’re dealing with Famine, do you know where he is?"
This was no longer about him, Famine’s presence was a calamity to both worlds that needed to be dealt with.
Annie appeared next to him, " We have an idea but we’re not sure, considering the state of the human world, he’s most likely there."
Adrian nodded, " Let go." Annie looked at him with suprise in her eyes.
" Right now? Don’t you need to rest? You just returned from that place." Adrian shook his head.
" No, I’m fine, we need to deal with this quick so we can have a more relaxing rest later." He answered.
She nodded, " Alright, I’ll the others."
He stopped her, " No, we’ll deal with this by ourselves, let the others be." She nodded without arguing.
Adrian’s claws came out and lit up with silver light then he stabbed his hands in front of him.
The sound of ripping cloth echoed in the room then he pulled his hands apart. A wall of mist appeared and ripped open.
Annie was greatly surprised by this, this power was not something people at their level should have.
The world between the human world and the realm beyond the mist was thin, so thin that even a level 4 Fayera can rip it open with some effort.
However the issue was interacting with the wall to begin with. The wall of mist might be called that.
But in actuality it was a barrier of space time, not something low level expert can interact with.
Yet he just did in front of her, mind you, it’s well known that only Demigods can do this so casually.
She shook her head, ’ Why am I surprised, he’s always been a monster.’ she smiled and hugged his arm.
Adrian jumped through the hole in space time with her and they appeared outside of a large city in the human world.
As soon as they landed he felt it, the overwhelming authority of Famine, his stomach started growling.
The authority was so powerful it could affect even him to such an extent. He used his left eye.
The world turned into a shade of grey, it was Famine’s authority, it was everywhere like an overwhelming storm.
He tried studying its pattern but it was like a monkey looking at a quantum mechanics book.
The pattern of Famine’s authority was so complex and intricate it made lust’s authority look like scribbles of a child.
Adrian sighed, he had hoped to use his left eye to study Famine’s ability and cancel it out.
Unfortunately he had been mistaken, when he met lust and studied her authority he learnt something interesting.
Her authority didn’t affect others, not by itself, her authority allowed her to drain power from the lust of others.
But inducing lust and causing illusions, mind control etc, those were her abilities, active abilities she had to consciously use.
However that was not the case for Famine it seemed, his authority was the one affecting everybody.
He didn’t need to do anything, his presence alone was enough to cause huge destruction upon the world.
" The horsemen are really a class above the sins."
" My that’s so rude, we’re not so bad." He heard a familiar annoying voice behind them.
