Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Greed
Sanchez reported the news, people at a bar started fighting and killing each other, it is believed nobody survived.
’ This is too strange, what the hell are we dealing with here?’ she wondered then used pack call.
When Annie received the pack call from Sanchez she sighed. ’ I know what we’re dealing with.’ she answered through pack call.
’ it’s one of the seven sins, special types of demon unbound by the rules of hell, unlike other demons, they’re true spirits.
This is both bad and good for us, their power is nearly impossible to resist, they target the very core of people’s nature.
They aim at desires themselves but unlike other demons, they also don’t have any levels.
Their personal power demons on the amount of what they represent around them.
And in this current generation, dealing with greed might be impossible.’ Annie’s voice sounded grim.
Sanchez sighed, ’ If one of the seven sins have appeared, then..’ she didn’t continue, she needed not to.
’ I’ll contact the others.’ Annie answered and the pack call ended. Sanchez immediately went to her boss.
" I’m going to need a leave of absence." Her chief looked at her with confusion.
" In the middle of this? Are you serious? You’re the best detective we have, we need you for this case."
Sanchez didn’t care, she told him she was taking the leave or quitting. Her life over the past 6 decades have been interesting to say the least.
Naturally like the rest she couldn’t stay in one place for long. Looking the same for 5 to 10 years can be explained.
But changing one bit in 20 years let alone 60 would earn her the title of a witch, which might offend real witches.
So she had to move and change her identity every now and then, used compulsion when necessary.
One thing she has never changed was her name but everything else changed. She bribed people.
Using her wealth she controlled people of power in different countries, not to do anything shady but to replace all the records of her former identity with new ones.
She could’ve used compulsion but that would’ve drawn the attention of the organisation.
Since the top brass knew of the existence of the supernatural world and Fayera, they were willing to cooperate with her.
And like that, she continued working as a cop across the continents. After receiving permission to take a leave she left.
In the black market, on the second layer, a meeting was being held. This was their new base.
Highly protected, the second layer was quite special compared to the first. It was made up of floating islands.
Each island surrounded by the darkness and separated from each other, to access it one needed a special ticket.
The werewolves sat on a spacious room with Suzie and maids from her lineage delivering snacks to everybody.
Annie looked around and sighed, all the Delta and Gemma werewolves were present but amongst the Omega.
Over 30 percent of them were missing, in the past 60 years, less than a hundred werewolves died or were arrested by the high council.
Probably to find information about the other members of the pack. However the pack was in the thousands.
The reason so many weren’t present was because they ignored her. Annie sighed but she understood.
Adrian was the pillar here, the werewolves had their discontent with the pack but their loyalty was to him.
In fact, even the so called loyalty was merely out of fear, Adrian was the primordial, every werewolf felt reverence for him.
Above all, they felt the fear of God, they stayed because he was here to keep them at bay.
But now that he was gone with most believing he was dead, they had no reason to return to the pack.
They could live out their lives as they see fit, immortal and powerful, they could basically be Gods in the human world.
" Should we hunt them down?" Alex asked but Annie shook her head.
" As long they’re not doing anything to compromise the pack or commit heinous crimes, let them be for now.
We have more troubling things to deal with. One, we need to find a way to bring back Adrian and deal with one of the sins."
" Getting the boss back will not be as easy, I’ve done some digging for some years now and I believe he might on one of the two great prisons." Athi commented.
Annie nodded but the others looked confused. " Two great prisons? What are those?" John asked.
Next to her was Suzie and behind them sat Cassie, Suzie had turned her 60 years ago and they’ve been living together ever since.
" You’ve heard of the wilderness?" They all nodded, the wilderness were quite famous as ancient battlefields.
" The truth behind it, the wilderness were one of the nine realms, similar to this one we’re in.
I’m not clear on the details since information about the ancient era is deeply hidden by the high council and organisation.
Even Meggie’s library doesn’t contain much information about it. However amongst those nine realms.
Two of them were made prisons after they fell in the ancient war, those two realms are Niflheim and Muspelhein.
These two realms are disconnected from Alguard, without the key from either of the two groups, we’re not getting in." Annie’s words poured cold water on their heads.
" However I believe Adrian will find a way out, he’s more powerful than others think, in the meantime, we have to deal with greed."
They nodded. " So how do we deal with that thing? It’s making people kill each other mercilessly." Sanchez asked coldly.
" Greed is as his name says, a being representing greed itself. He can multiple the greed in people’s hearts.
This is nearly impossible to deal with as most intelligent lifeforms possess greed of their own.
His power is especially effective on humans, maybe that’s why he targeted the human world.
However dealing with him is not impossible, he can’t create what is not there, if there’s no greed in your heart, he can’t effect you.
But we need to act quick, he’s not like other spirits, he’s part demon and while doesn’t have levels, his personal power is high.
But he needs time to grow, the more people are consumed by greed, the stronger he’ll get.
Sanchez, where last did you track his movements?"
Sanchez answered, Annie stood up to leave, " Those who are coming, let move out."
