Chapter 240: Chapter 240: New Path

He could feel that he was still far from level 6 and at the frequency he gets to come across any living creature.

It might take him tens of thousands of years to reach level 6, as such he started working on something else.

He had no Idea if it would work but it was at least worth a shot. Adrian spread out his domain.

His esper replaced the ambient esper but not completely, he opened holes through his domain.

This allowed the ambient esper of Niflheim to enter his domain, unfortunately the esper was ice oriented.

It turned his domain extremely cold, ’ This will be harder than I expected.’ Adrian’s idea was simple.

He knew he can spread his esper out of his body but he can also absorb that esper back inside him.

His plan was to absorb the ambient esper by mixing it with his own thus slowly increasing his overall esper.

However the ambient esper was normally a mixture of different esper types including lunar esper.

He could easily filter out other types of esper once they enter his body leaving lunar esper but it was different here.

The ambient esper was purely ice with barely any other type, the lunar esper was too thin.

In the past 100 years he has spent here, he has come to understand something about this realm.

’ It seems Meggie downplayed the level of destruction.’ the sun was still there unaffected but the moon around this place.

No, there were four moons of different sizes and each one of them were shattered to some extent.

Even all four together could barely give off 30 percent of the lunar energy he had felt in the human world, let alone in Alguard.

He sighed, ’ It’s not impossible but the progress will be slow, too slow.’ he tried his method.

However he came across another problem, ambient esper was quite resistant to the control of others.

Even though he tried mixing it with his own esper, when it came to drawing it inside his body.

It was left behind and scattered into the atmosphere once more. He frowned and tried again.

The same thing happened, it was like grabbing into wet soap with oily hands, he couldn’t hold on to it.

Using a domain was not without a cost, a bit of his esper was being wasted each time which would be another problem.

That meant he would have to absorb more ambient esper than he lost each time or there would be no progress at all.

But as of yet, he couldn’t even absorb an ounce of esper from the atmosphere and continuing like this would be pointless.

He needed to find a solution to grab into the ambient esper or he won’t be able achieve anything at all.

Adrian stood up and started walking, his esper regenerated slowly, he reached a cave on the side of a tall mountain.

This has been his dwelling for the past 4 decades, it was near the edge of Niflheim so the chances of encountering monsters was low.

Every now and then he would walk towards the sea but unlike in Alguard, no matter which direction he went.

He couldn’t feel any hole through the invisible wall of mist that separated the realms.

He sighed, ’ Still hasn’t changed.’ Adrian was worried about his pack, about Annie, a hundred years was too long.

He had no idea that it has only been a year outside.

------------------------------------

In the northern wilderness of the realm once known as Alfheim, Meggie and Maleficent were in the middle of a great war if one might call it that.

Facing them were grey skinned creatures running on all fours with four curved horns, they resembled twisted furless mountain goats.

These creatures were known as the Madai, an ancient race, this realm used to be belong to the dwarves.

The greatest crafters in all realms, their Enchantment magic far surpassed what the witches could do.

In fact, witch magic was a derivative of many different magic, the enchantment magic covenant was derived from the dwarven art.

However the dwarves had it worse than the elves, the elves are now very few in numbers but dwarves are nearly extinct.

These creatures, used to be the dwarves version of horses, they were strong and fast with hooves that can crush anything.

Above everything, they were highly resistant to esper making most abilities ineffective against them.

The ground shook as they ran at them like a stampede. The other prisoners panicked, they could feel powerful Madai in the back.

Meggie didn’t panic, Maleficent cast her spell. " Hlathi La Meva." A forest of thorny vines bloomed before them.

Each vine was more than a kilometre tall and over a dozen metres thick with thorns as long as spears.

They lashed down like whips killing thousands of the Madai but the fearless creatures continued charging.

Their horns broke through her forest of vines but what met them was a wall of purple fog that crashed towards them like a flood of death.

They fearless charged into it but one by one dropped dead with a single touch of the poisonous fog.

Their bodies dried up and whithered in a blink of an eye. Maleficent shivered from the sight.

She wasn’t the only one, all those who saw this felt terrified, the thought of being caught in that poison made them take a step away from her.

" It seems your poison art has grown even stronger Morgana." Maleficent commented but Meggie said nothing.

They’ve been fighting waves of Gadra from this realm for an entire year, she learnt how to create the most potent poison using what she had.

This poison fog was still in its experimental stage, it couldn’t kill a level 8 or level 9 Gadra, until it could, she would continue researching it.

The fog cleared and the path in front of them was clear, the other sides were still struggling to push back the waves.

Hundreds of people died from the horns of the Madai but instead of helping, Meggie took out her couldron and started cooking another potion.

This time she used the Madai themselves as an ingredient, even Maleficent wondered what abominable thing she was creating this time.
