Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Life in Niflheim
He bit the wolf below him and in a blink of an eye it turned into black ash that drifted through the cold wind.
His body transformed taking his true werewolf form and he lunged biting all the wolves around him.
They all turned into ash turning the surrounding snow black. He sighed, " Another dud."
A hundred years ago when Adrian first in this prison, he found out that everything in here was at a higher level than him.
The weakest was at level 6 and he has even come across some at level 8 and 9, fortunately they were too far away from him.
This wasn’t enough to put him down, on the contrary he was quite excited. So much prey meant a rapid speed in his growth.
The first thing he faced was a six legged creature with four horns, it looked like a a fat pig covered in a coat of white fur.
Adrian faced it without even taking his true form, he mostly relied on the myriad of abilities he had, especially flame related ability.
He beat the poor creature to the point its body was burnt into black coal, in triumph he claimed his price.
It was a level 6 Gadra, naturally its heart would possess a tremendous amount esper for him to consume.
Unfortunately he couldn’t be more mistaken, after eating the giant heart he felt nothing, it was like eating stale mortal meat without an ounce of energy.
Adrian was confused, he hunted another and another and another but they were all the same.

He grew frustrated but also learnt something else, these things could not be killed even after he ate their hearts.
He tried using his venom and the target turned into ash almost instantly. It was then that he knew they could be killed, only by his venom.
Since then, he didn’t bother trying any other methods unless it’s to incapacitate them before biting them.
That was until 60 years ago where he met the first living creature, it was different from the others.
Its heart was still beating and pumping with a tremendous amount of esper, Adrian couldn’t tell it apart from others at first.
Plus it attacked him first as well, considering it was level 7, as strong as he was struggled greatly against it.
The Gadra resembled a snow leopard with wings and four scorpion like tails, its body was covered in white fur.
But the fur was as tough as armour, even his claws couldn’t pierce through it. During their battle it cut him in half.
In desperate he ignited his lower half since it would be easier to heal than his upper half, he turned his body into a bomb.
The explosion was akin to a nuclear bomb lightning up this realm for tens of kilometres, the snow melted for a moment.
Flames spread out creating a giant crater filled with lava. When everything cleared the Gadra appeared.
Licks of fire stuck to its body burning it, Adrian knew its weakness was fire right then and there.
As his body healed, he bombarded it with explosions of fire until it got weak enough for him to bite through its fur.
Unfortunately for him, while it was alive its reaction to his venom was no different from the others.
It took a bit longer but in less than 20 seconds it turned into ash along with its heart.

Adrian was heartbroken from the loss, then 10 year later he met another living creature and this time he was more careful.
He ripped out its heart while it was still alive and to his joy, the heart truly contained pure esper.
More pure than most Gadra and even Fayera he has consumed in his life. Since then, he’s developed a tendency.
Before biting something, he would take out its heart, if it comes back to life then it wasn’t alive and he would use his venom.
The system worked, in the past 50 years he’s managed to find and kill two other living Gadra.
One at level 6 and the other at level 7, the level 7 Gadra gave him the hardest battle he’s ever had.
It was a pure white peacock that had the power to control wind and ice. It’s ability was easily able to counter his flames.
That fight was completely hopeless for him, he even teleported away but it found him immediately after.
It could also teleport using the wind, he could escape it at all. He had to watch as it ripped him apart.
Then proceed to eat his body parts while he was watching. It pecked his eyes out and ate them.
He regenerated them and it ate them again as if using him as an infinite food source. Adrian couldn’t take that.
He attacked with everything he had using every offensive ability he could think of, thus pushed it back giving him a chance to retreat.
Unfortunately it had ripped him in half before retreating and lunged back almost immediately.
Adrian knowing he couldn’t win an frontal fight, he decided to do something foolish, if Annie was here, she would beat him to death just for thinking it.
He ripped off his own head with his bare hands and threw it at the peacock, he was gambling at that point.

Fortunately he was using his domain, not the warrior type but the one that stretches out around him.
Even though it couldn’t suppress or affect the peacock, it allowed him to use his abilities to their extent.
The peacock opened its beak to bite his chest, the beak the size of his arm came it him like two forked spears.
Suddenly his head appeared in front of it catching it off guard but it was too late to change directions.
It bit his chest and ripped out a lung but at the same time swallowed his wolf head. Adrian’s vision changed.
He saw himself surrounded by darkness and moving walls of flesh. Without a moment wasted but down.
His head bit the peacock from the inside, the muscles shifted and moved like waves trying to push him down to its digestive acid.
But his teeth held in tight as he continued injecting more venom into its system. It got weaker and slower in seconds.
Outside, his headless body moved and plunged its claws into the weakened peacock pulling out its heart.
The peacock died with open eyes wondering how it had lost against such a weak creature, even to its, it seemed it couldn’t accept it.
Adrian’s esper energy grew significantly after eating that heart, and yet.
" Why the hell haven’t I reached level 6?!"
