Chapter 232: Chapter 232: Court Of The High Council
This old man was a demigod of the high council, the leader of the Saxins, a race of strange looking Fayera.
Their bodies were covered in black spiked exoskeleton armour, their faces resembled that of beetles.
They had scorpion tails on their back and bee like wings. Their true bodies were large standing nearly 4 metres tall with four arms.
The old man was in his human like form but still, to be a member of the high council one needed tremendous strength even amongst their peers.
His power bound Adrian, no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t move an inch or even use his esper.
’ Well, this isn’t good.’ Adrian understood the high council and the organisation wanted his head.
He had survived this long because the leaders weren’t willing to take action directly but now they have.
He didn’t know who this man was but based in Meggie’s reaction, it was obvious he was a high ranking member of the high council.
’ Fortunately the others escaped, they should be able to take care of things while I’m gone.’
" You will come with me to judged for your crimes." None of them could resist as he took them away.
The organisation arrived after, the people from the city were teleported back by the spell Meggie left behind.
They were all panicking since they retained memories of what had happened. The organisation went to great effort to quell the chaos.
But many of them had posted online, strangely there were even videos on their phones.
They didn’t remember shooting those videos but that didn’t matter. At first, the internet didn’t believe them.
But as the similar story came from multiple people, the people on the internet started believing.
It wasn’t long before stories of other towns being surrounded by fog then closed off by the government came out.
Then the organisation found it hard to deal with everything quickly enough, especially considering they had more to deal with.
The breaking of the first seal brought more than just Bloody Mary, the levels of dark esper increased around the world.
Both worlds in fact, the dark esper leaked through the holes in the wall of mist from the realm beyond the mist.
Plants were the first to evolve in droves, animals are them and evolved into Gadra as well.
The scale was not large, they were mostly isolated incidents but they happened randomly making them hard to control.
On top of Meggie and the others releasing their power in the human world further weakening the wall, more and more Gadra were born as a result.
People naturally came in contact with these Gadra, those lucky enough to meet herbivorous Gadra lived to tell the tale.
The rest were unlucky enough to be devoured not even leaving bones behind, some who survived the encounter spread it online.
It took great effort for the organisation to remove those videos and photos online and wipe the memories of the entire city.
Then they had to work around the clock searching for and wiping out the memories of anybody who had an encounter.
Months after everything, things started to cool down but there were still occasional reveals of the supernatural world online.
In the meantime, three people stood bound in enchanted chains at the centre of a massive hall.
Surrounding them were benches rising like stairs and in front of them were five throne like chairs.
Four standing on the same level and the last one sitting even higher. This was the courtroom of the high council.
The high council had different roles, the four thrones belonged to the four direction inquisitors.
The top throne belonged to the judge and around them were people here to watch the trial.
The four inquisitors role was similar to the jury in the court of the humans in the human world.
" Let the accused stand forward." An old woman shouted, she was one of the four inquisitors.
As well as a member of the council of witches and one of the nine mothers, her name was Spiritus, the mother of spirits.
She was the leader of the spirit covenant, while she was old, her appearance was that of a 30 year old woman.
Even though she looked young she has been alive since the old era, having lived through the history of most empires.
She looked at Morgana and Maleficent with sadness then her tender eyes turned towards Adrian.
However the coldness he had expected had not come, instead he felt a gentle grandmotherly gaze from her.
The other inquisitors were different though, they looked at the three of them with cold eyes.
" You stand accused of breaking code 007 of the supernatural code of conduct. You deliberately disturbed the balance of the human world.
You risked increasing the birth of wild Gadra risking the lives of normal humans and low ranked Fayera seeking shelter in the human world.
How do you plead?"
" Not guilty!" All three shouted at the same time.
" You stand accused with evidence of your crimes placed before you and everybody to see, if you do not plead guilty, state your case."
Maleficent was the first to speak. " Our actions were neither out of malice or intention to disturb any balance.
On the contrary we took it upon ourselves to restore the balance and save not just the human world but this realm as well.
We’re not guilty of any crime, we did what any caring Fayera would’ve done to save this precious world."
Her words resonated across the hall, everybody could hear the sincerity of her words.
She stood back not saying anything, Maleficent genuinely believed her words, she really did fight to save the world.
Meggie stood forward next. " I know I have a history of causing issues I don’t deny that but I also don’t regret anything I’ve done.
In the past, it’s true that I started the apocalypse myself but that’s because you all forced me."
She looked at Adrian with tender eyes, he couldn’t understand that look so he ignored her.
" I still don’t regret what I did in the past nor do I regret what I did this time. Just as before.
I did what I did it protect what’s dear to me and save the world in the process, if that’s a crime then so be it but given another chance, i wouldn’t change anything."
Her words held no respect or heroism as Maleficent did, even the crowd frowned since they knew of her past actions.
Nobody liked the great dark witch Morgana. When she was done ate stepped and nodded at Adrian.
That nod made him calm as if he knew if the sky fell, she would it up for him.
Adrian sighed, " What a farce." His voice was low but it resonated across the entire hall.
Everybody looked at him strangely wondering if they heard correctly.
