Chapter 1379: Chapter 35: The Crucial Call

"Swoosh swoosh..."

It’s already dawn, and in the barren wilderness of the South Continent, the timid sounds of the Earth Spirits chirped and echoed. Sparse white clouds drifted across the azure sky, through which two fleeting shadows glided—Fisher and Renie.

The city ahead within the Pseudo Dragon Court isn’t large, and Fisher has no need to expose himself in a big city; he just needs to make a phone call. Before he is fully prepared, it’s better to be cautious.

"We’ve arrived..."

Renie effortlessly and silently brought Fisher into the city. The residents here had not yet fully awakened, but quite a few diligent people were already moving around outside.

Fisher and Renie hid in an alley. Renie glanced at the situation outside and said to Fisher,

"This city isn’t far from the Dragon Court in the south, making it convenient for you to return. Since you’ve reached the Mythical Rank, this should be manageable for you, right?"

"Yes."

Fisher patted Emhardt, who was hidden in his arms, and fully covered his appearance with a robe.

Since the robe covered his face, the contours of his features, hidden in shadows, began to shift continuously, as if transforming into a different appearance.

Fisher hadn’t completely mastered the knowledge of the Completion Manual, so using it was extremely clumsy. Only Heaven knew what he might turn into. Although it served as an insurance, it was best not to reveal it directly, lest it became conspicuously ugly in a different way.

Renie didn’t seem to care about his change in appearance at all. Who knows how she viewed Fisher from the perspective of a True God?

She merely retracted her smile slightly, then said to Fisher,

"About those Demons escaping from the Abyss, I’ll keep an eye on it when I have time. Although my predecessor indeed made many mistakes, sealing the Demons in the Abyss was unquestionably the right thing to do. Their escape must be related to that Paimon you mentioned, but the exact method is still unknown. If I have any definitive news, I’ll come back and inform you..."

Fisher nodded. Just as he was about to speak, Renie sternly pressed her finger to his lips.

"..."

His words halted, and he could only look down at Renie in front of him.

"Then, promise me, under no circumstances should you read any more Completion Manuals. The Doomsday Prophecy will be handled by me and the gods; it has nothing to do with you. You can first handle the issues among those women."

It seemed that Renie was genuinely worried that he might bring danger upon himself by reading those Completion Manuals, to the point that she would even suggest he deal with other Lady matters first. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"Promise me."

Seeing Fisher hesitate to respond, Renie pouted and insisted.

"...I promise not to read the previous Completion Manuals anymore."

"Swear it."

"...I swear."

Renie pouted, staring at Fisher, and only after receiving his affirmative answer did she release him.

She stepped back a few paces, looking at the sky turning brighter. Finally, she let out a deep breath and said,

"That’s better, now I can rest assured... I’m leaving then, I’m returning to the Spirit Realm."

"Wait, don’t go yet."

"?"

Renie looked at Fisher in confusion, only to see him reaching out his hand toward her, saying,

"Leave me a Hart Bird, otherwise how will I contact you later?"

"Hart Bird..."

Renie was slightly taken aback, then smiled and tapped Fisher’s outstretched palm, complaining,

"I came in a hurry and didn’t bring a Hart Bird. Even if I need to fetch one, I have to return to the Spirit Realm and come back again. It’s quite troublesome, and you know my movements aren’t very free. I almost caused trouble because I was worried about you this time... Next time, when I come, I’ll bring one for you."

"...All right."

"Don’t worry, I already know you’re back, and I know where you are. When I have free time in the Spirit Realm, I’ll surely sneak a peek at you, and in case I catch you fooling around."

Fisher gave a helpless smile to express his resolve, and Renie shook hands with him, then, with a light "I’m leaving," she turned and walked deeper into the alley. As she walked, her body seemed to be engulfed by the air, becoming more and more ethereal until it completely disappeared.

The subtle fragrance in the alley gradually dispersed under the morning light.

Fisher took one more look at the place where she had vanished, then turned and walked out of the alley, heading towards the direction of the public telephone booth along the street signs.

This city is small, being close to the frontline of the Red Dragon Court, where the risk of war is always present. Naturally, not many people are willing to live, invest, or build here, making such basic facilities particularly scarce. Fisher has to walk about two blocks to see one of the few phone booths.

As he walked, the smile on his face faded, his gaze flickering, his thoughts a mystery.

The Emhardt hidden in his arms sensed his silence; it wasn’t due to Renie’s departure that he seemed forlorn. Emhardt understood Fisher; usually, he wouldn’t be so silent after parting with a Lady... Well, most of the time, he appeared more relaxed, but his current increasing silence was indeed rare.
