Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Drinking His Wedding Wine Within a Year

When the three of them returned to the banquet hall, the atmosphere seemed even better than before.

Silas Cheney looked a bit puzzled, quickly walked ahead and asked his old man, "What’s going on here? Why are you all laughing like this?"

Mr. Cheney coughed and cheerfully said to him, "Your third brother said he plans to start a family, aiming for us to celebrate his wedding within a year."

Speaking of which, Mr. Cheney’s expression slightly changed, and he tapped the back of Silas’s hand, "You should work harder too! After your third brother settles down, you need to hurry and catch up!"

"Alright, alright." Silas responded dismissively, and instinctively looked at Thea Lynch behind him.

Behind him, Sean Bell handed Thea a wine glass, which she naturally accepted, then she got up to toast the other elders.

It seemed she hadn’t heard...

Just as Silas was about to breathe a sigh of relief, Sean Bell’s lips curled, and he shattered his hope with one sentence, "She heard it."

Silas: "..."

"You can’t blame me for this, can you?" Sean Bell was extremely smug, not at all polite with him, directly leaving the blame on Silas: "You used to lecture me. Now it turns out, you’re the one who upset her today."

Silas: "..."

He took a couple of steps to catch up with Thea, accompanied her to finish toasting, and then looked at her, wanting to say something but hesitating several times.

Thea naturally knew what he wanted to say. She set down her wine glass, took another from the waiter, lightly clinked it with Silas’s, and then tilted her head back and drank it down.

Since she was toasting, Silas had no reason not to drink. He simply accompanied her with a small glass.

After drinking, Thea took the initiative to speak, "I heard everything, it’s a good thing, fourth brother, no need to be so tense."

"It doesn’t matter who asks about this."

"That’s not the case." At that moment, Silas also didn’t know what to say. "They’ve all had too much to drink, third brother was probably just humoring them."

Knowing he shouldn’t say more, he quickly ended the topic, "You should drink less, so you won’t have a headache when you get back. I’ll accompany the drinking, you don’t need to."

"Alright." Although she replied, Thea didn’t take it to heart. She had a strong drinking capacity and it was even more remarkable today.

Being the only junior in the Lynch Family’s generation, there was no one else to share the task, so she toasted each elder in one go.

By the end of the afternoon feast, she still hadn’t recovered.

Sitting back in her chair, she closed her eyes to rest.

After a brief nap, when she was called up, her head was even dizzier than before.

"Your drinking capacity is even better than mine." Sean Bell teased, extending his arm, "Lean on me."

She wore high heels today, fearing she’d fall due to her dizziness, she didn’t hesitate and gripped his arm to stand up.

"Everyone’s mostly gone, ready to leave?"

"Hmm."

Thea responded and walked out with him.

Sean Bell walked slowly, deliberately waiting for her. Turning his head to look at her, he sneered, "Like the Empress Dowager."

Thea had a headache and wasn’t in the mood for jokes.

As they stepped out of the elevator, Sean Bell immediately noticed Ian Preston’s assistant standing at the lobby entrance.

His mind raced, and he halted. Thea was also forced to stop, looking up at him, "What’s wrong?"

"I left something upstairs." Sean lied without a hitch. "I’ll go back and look for it, you take fourth brother’s car and go first."

"Fourth brother hasn’t left yet?"

"No, he’s outside."

"Okay." Thea let go of him, her reaction a bit delayed due to the alcohol, not thinking much of it.

After Sean left, Thea walked slowly by herself.

At the door, the wind blew, making her wrap her coat tightly, but her calves were still exposed to the cold.

Just as she was searching for Silas, a voice softly sounded beside her, "Miss Lynch."

"..." The voice sounded familiar, and Thea squinted as she turned her head, "It’s you."

She recognized Ian’s assistant.

The person was a bit older than her, presumably the same age as Ian. With a professional elite look, appearing polite and well-mannered.

The assistant nodded and kindly asked, "How are you getting back?"

"I’m taking Silas’s car."

"Mr. Cheney?" The assistant smiled, "Mr. Cheney left about ten minutes ago."

Thea was slightly stunned, looking around, indeed Silas’s car was nowhere to be found.

Or rather, there weren’t many people around anymore, let alone familiar cars.

Except for Ian’s car and Sean’s.

"Are you sure?" she asked unwillingly. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Yes," the assistant said, "I was the one who drove Mr. Cheney’s car over."

"..." Listening to this, Thea had a rough idea.

It was all Sean’s setup.

With a deep breath, she slightly smiled at the other, "It’s okay, I’ll wait for Sean."

"Alright," the assistant didn’t say anything else.

Ten minutes passed, and Sean was nowhere in sight. Feeling irritated, Thea took out her phone and called him, unsurprisingly, there was no answer.

"Miss Lynch, why not take Mr. Preston’s car first? Anyway, it’s on the way, doesn’t make much difference."

"No need."

"No need for what?"

Just as she spoke, Ian’s voice suddenly sounded behind her, startling her shoulder into a twitch. She instinctively stepped aside but stumbled.

Fortunately, Ian was quick on his feet, grabbing her waist and pulling her closer, "Why run?"

"..." Standing steady, amidst the dizziness, Thea conversed with him, "Why haven’t you left, third brother?"

"There’s something."

Completely nonchalant.

Thea grunted without further comment.

"Aren’t you leaving?"

"I’ll wait for Sean."

"Are you sure you can wait for him?"

Uncertain.

"Get in the car first." Ian pulled her arm with some force, bringing her into the car.

Once inside, Thea lowered her head, seriously editing a message, taking two minutes before finally hitting send.

Unsurprisingly, the content was full of curses for Sean.

After the car started, fearing she’d fall asleep, Thea tried hard to stay awake. But somehow, the driver was unusually slow today. Before long, she couldn’t fight it anymore, and fell asleep against the seat.

Ian watched her from the side until her breathing was calm and even, then he turned his gaze away.

Thea’s hand was on the armrest, her sleeve pulled up slightly, the bracelet pressed against the armrest leaving marks on her skin.

Ian frowned, moved her hand to her leg.

Thea was sound asleep and showed no reaction.

Seeing this, Ian draped a blanket over her legs, covering her exposed calves.

"Ian..." In the front seat, the assistant seemed to have thought of something and turned around.

As soon as he uttered a syllable, Ian glared at him. Seeing this, the assistant immediately closed his mouth.

Using his phone, the assistant chose to communicate with Ian via WeChat: [Mr. Preston, Nina Sinclair indeed has been inquiring about Miss Lynch these past two days. The missed calls that Miss Lynch mentioned are indeed from Nina’s number. As per your request, I’ve arranged to meet with the person.]
