Chapter 444: Saying Goodbye (1)
After giving Levia his spatial ring which was full of priceless treasures, pills, weapons, techniques, and other valuable stuff, Khal left Moon Tavern and decided to find his friends.
First, he went to find Raven who over the weeks turned out to be more of a genius than he initially believed her to be.
Khal could clearly remember how Raven was just a slightly above average Awakened cultivator which was just enough for her to become an Inner Court Disciple inside Moon Sect.
However, it seemed just under a few weeks and months, she underwent such a huge amount of change that Khal couldn’t decide if she was a monster or simply was a cultivation genius as she at this moment was at the peak of the Third Cultivation Stage, the Body Temperer Stage!
Furthermore, from her presence alone Khal was able to tell she was half a step inside the Fourth Cultivation Stage, so it was only a matter of days before she could finally become a Limit Breaker and be eligible to become an Elder inside Moon Sect!
Of course, Khal understood clearly that Raven achieved what she did through her own efforts, hard work, and talents, and not because she was thought the secret steps from the scroll he has given to Senior Lin.
In fact, except for the Elders in the sect, there was not even a single individual who knew about the scroll much less who already used it to cultivate as Khal specifically asked Senior Lin to teach it once he has ascended and when the sect had enough strength to protect itself from others.
Inside a small restaurant where there were little fluffy and cute animals everywhere, Khal sat in front of Raven with three birds on each of his shoulders and a white cat on his lap which purred with delight whenever he petted her head.
"So the rumors were true. You are really ascending." sitting on a wooden chair with a puppy on her lap and a snake around her neck, Raven looked at Khal as she extended her delicate hands and grabbed a cup from the table before her before taking a sip.
"Yeah. Though I didn’t come here just to say goodbye. I have a favor to ask from you." Khal spoke calmly as he ignored how a puffy big bird flew onto the top of his head, using his hair as a nest.
"A favor?" Raven raised a brow as she placed the cup in her hands back onto the table after taking a sip.
Then, after a small pause, she added, "I have already said this before. Because you have saved my life in the past, no matter what you wish me to do I will definitely accomplish it so there is no reason for you to say it is a favor. Just simply say what you want and I will do it."
Khal was slightly taken aback by how seriously was Raven saying those words, almost as if she was his loyal follower who just swore eternal allegiance to him.
[Considering her words and the things she has spoken last time, it is not far from the truth that she has become your loyal follower.]
Placing a cookie into his mouth as he watched Raven’s face Khal thought, ’Although I would lie I am not happy to hear such a thing, I still think the way she takes this matter so seriously is a little bit exaggerated.’
[Maybe, maybe not. Everyone is different and there is no reason to understand what you can’t.]
Khal nodded in his heart and after swallowing down the cookie and said, "Then I won’t stand on a ceremony and get straight to the point. After I ascend, I want you to protect Liza until she won’t become strong enough to not fear even a peak Ascender Stage existence."
"Liza?" Raven raised a brow but soon an image popped up in her mind and seemed to understand who this individual Khal was talking about was.
"Sure, I will make sure no one will hurt her. Though, is she perhaps your girlfriend?" Raven asked calmly but the curiosity in her beautiful round eyes was simply hard to go unnoticed.
G-Girlfriend? Khal almost choked on the cookie he placed in his mouth and wished to swallow, but luckily was fast enough to pour all the hit tea into his mouth, allowing him to swallow everything down without any problem.
"Is she not? But I was sure to believe she was." Raven mumbled as she petted the little puppy on her lap, to which the little creature quivered scarcely from delight.
Khal let out a deep sigh once he no longer was struggling to get air, and after clearing his throat he said, "It is a complicated matter, so I would prefer if you don’t ask questions touching on this topic."
"I see, then I won’t." Raven shrugged casually, acting as if she no longer cared about the matter. However, even a blind person would see and understand from the way she looked at Khal that she not only wished to learn more but her curiosity and even weirdly her hope increased!
Khal, naturally, noticed the way Raven looked at him, but as he really didn’t wish to talk about that topic for a while now he just shook his head and stood up. Of course, before doing so he placed the little kitten down on the ground so she won’t be just dropped down without any care.
As for the birds, the ones on his shoulder immediately flew away the moment he moved while the one on his head seemed to have fallen asleep as even after Khal shook his head gently it failed to react much less fly away!
"This..." Khal didn’t know whether he would cry or laugh and with a soft pinch pushed the bird on his side, to which the puffy nestling finally opened its eyes and with a sleepy face slowly flew away.
