Chapter 443: Farewell Gift
When Khal heard that Levia wanted to hear his reason he almost laughed out loud, feeling as if he just heard a good joke, but decided not to do so.
Instead, he rested his body weight against the chair’s back and said with a nonchalant look, "I think the reason is pretty obvious already. While your request for me to help you and your race seems pretty simple, the consequences if I accept are just as complex and grave."
Then, after taking a deep breath Khal looked straight into Levia’s eyes and said, "I know you are just trying to find a way to help your race survive an approaching calamity, as which leader would not do the same, but you also need to understand this is no longer a small confrontation but a large scale conflict, a war. If I decided to help you, the Nether Race will not only target the fairies but even the humans, and while I indeed have confidence in my power and strength to wipe out entire armies in mere moments, I am not God, so I can’t protect everyone."
"I know my limits and although I have done many mistakes throughout my life, I also learned a lot too. So I know what to do and what not to do."
Upon seeing how the Queen of the Fairy Race said nothing but remained silent, Khal sighed and said calmly, "Also, who will promise that the Nether Race won’t ask for others’ help too? Who will promise if that happens that things won’t escalate to a point where another Stellar War breaks out? As I said before, this is no longer a question of whether I want to help or not, but instead, if I can or not after considering the consequences."
Levia listened silently to Khal’s words and once she heard he finished talking she let out a deep sigh that even the most retarded person would understand and perhaps even feel slight sorrow.
Khal obviously understood how Levia was currently feeling, and although he indeed wished to help, others must also understand it was no longer about him but the entire human race.
He simply couldn’t afford to start something that had a high risk to push his race into a large-scale battle where hundreds of thousands if not millions of lives could end up perishing.
"I see. I believed your answer would be different, but alas, you are right. I cannot ask you nor force you to risk a whole race’s future just because of my selfish request." after Levia spoke those words, she stood up and bowed gently before walking away.
Khal watched silently as Levia walked away with her two guards and couldn’t help but sigh once again.
"Wait for a moment."
"Hm?" Levia and her two guards turned around and before either of them could have reacted Khal extended his hand and placed a beautiful black ring into the hand of the Queen of the Fairy Race.
"A... Spatial Ring?" Levia frowned but once she channeled some of her Body Essence into the ring her eyes widened from pure shock and quickly shifted her gaze at Khal. She even wished to say something, but as no sound came out of her mouth she could only stare silently at Khal with eyes filled with shock, awe, gratitude, and many others.
"Don’t get me wrong, this does not mean I have changed my mind and will help you in the war." Khal said calmly before looking at the ring in Levia’s hand and continuing, "However, as I am not a cold person who likes to watch innocent people suffer for no specific reasons, I at least can help you with this much. Consider it as a farewell gift that will be enough help for you to put up a fight with those wicked souls."
Inside the spatial ring, there were numerous treasures that Khal obtained either when he blessed others or when he was given gifts after the Realm Tournament. In it, there were hundreds of high-quality armaments, thousands of high-grade weapons and relics, almost a million different pills, herbs, and potions, and several others that could boost a whole race’s overall strength much less a single individual’s!
Of course, he has already put the best ones into his other spatial ring, so while the ones in the hand of Levia were seemingly priceless treasures each, in the eyes of Khal they were only ’useless trash’ that he could not utilize nor did he wish to use them.
However, what is insignificant or useless to one is a priceless treasure and perhaps a lifesaving opportunity for the other! Hence, when Levia finally realized what she was holding in her hand she couldn’t help but clench her delicate fingers into a tight fist and now deeply at Khal.
" I will remember this deed of yours and as the Queen of the Fairy race I will promise if my race still stands in the future, I will make sure to support both this sect and your race to the best of my ability!"
Khal just showed a gentle smile and waved his hand, indicating there was no need to say such things. First, she should focus on herself and prepare everything to make sure once the war arrives she not only emerges as the victor but also the losses will be as minimal as possible.
"I wish the best for you," Khal said with sympathy in his voice, and without waiting for Levia to raise her head or reply she walked around her and out of the cafeteria.
The two guards watched Khal’s departing figure in silence and couldn’t help but feel complicated feelings. In the beginning, they believed Khal was an arrogant brat who got full of himself after his glory during the Realm Tournament. Then, that belief changed and they believed Khal not only was arrogant and full of pride, but also was a cold, uncaring, and selfish individual who didn’t care about others but only himself.
However, those opinions quickly changed once again, and in the end, they had to realize while Khal indeed was prideful and cold, he was also someone that cared and strived to help others depending on the situation.
"Let’s go." after straightening her posture with now greater morale than a few moments ago, Levia placed Khal’s spatial Ring onto her right ring finger and gestured toward her two guards to start walking.
