Chapter 442: Declined Request (2-Last)
Upon hearing the words spoken by Khal surprise flashed in Levia’s eyes before she regained her composure and placed the cup down on the table in a rather delicate manner.
Seeing this, Khal couldn’t help but secretly admire Levia’s style and wonder if all the female members of every royal fairy family are thought to behave this way as even Darla acted similarly.
"You are quite an interesting individual. If it were anyone else, they would have immediately started to flirt with me, grabbing any opportunity presented before them to get on my good side in order to gain benefits in the future. Yet, you are not and even behave indifferently before my presence despite knowing I have enough power to easily crush this whole sect in mere moments."
"I guess I will take that as a compliment." Khal smiled gently, but his eyes flashed coldly which obviously did not go unnoticed by the two guards. However, before they could have done anything they were stopped by Levia with a simple gesture.
"That was a compliment indeed." Levia nodded calmly as she lowered her hand and continued, "So, please don’t take it to heart what I have just said."
Khal remained silent and seeing that Levia indeed had no ulterior motives he nodded.
Levia seeing this showed a small smile that was dazzling enough to capture any men’s heart with a single glance, "Good, then as you have just said, let’s not waste each other’s time, and let’s get straight to the point. I wish... No, I hope you can give my race your aid in our war against the Nether Race."
"War against the Nether Race?" Khal raised a brow when he heard Levia’s words but not because he was confused but because he knew clearly what kind of past the Fairy and Nether Race had with each other.
According to his memories, the Nether Race almost succeeded in annihilating the entire Fairy Race during the Second Stellar War but through some miraculous events, the Fairies not only were able to survive but even succeeded in becoming one of the strongest races throughout the centuries and decades.
Ever since then, the Fairy Race and the Nether Race were in constant conflict with each other. However, while they simply despised each other from the bottom of their hearts they never stepped over the final border and launched a war. Hence it took Khal by surprise to hear the two of them were already in the middle of a war for unknown reasons.
Levia seemed to understand Khal’s thoughts and thus quickly explained, "As you may know this already, but my race and those wicked spirits were never on each other’s good side. However, despite the hate we have felt and still are feeling toward each other for obvious reasons, we have never stepped over the final line and initiated a war. Or at least that was how things were about two months ago."
Khal leaned back against the seat back and continued to listen with a calm expression.
Seeing that Khal showed no reaction Levia sighed and continued, "As you may have already known, both the Limit Breaker and Ascender groups’ final victors at the end of the Realm Tournament were experts from the Nether Race."
"What?"
"Huh?"
Levia’s brow rose when she saw how Khal looked stunned, but even before she could have said anything Khal cleared his through and nodded;
"Yeah, of course, I knew about that."
[No, you didn’t.]
’Shut up.’ Khal thought calmly before crossing his arms before his chest and asking, "And I assume the Martial Technique they have obtained has boosted their confidence so much that they finally decided to start a war, right?"
Levia was slightly confused when he saw the sudden change in Khal’s behavior but once she heard his question she decided to put the matter to the side and nod.
"Indeed. However, considering it is a Celestial Grade Martial Technique we are talking about, it is no wonder their confidence and arrogance skyrocketed tremendously in the past few weeks."
"But learning a Celestial Grade Martial Technique needs a huge amount of resources, time, and hard work? How were they able to learn it in such a short duration of time? Makes no sense at all." Khal asked with a deep frown.
As one would already know, the higher the Grade of a Martial Technique was, the harder it was to learn it.
For instance, while a Mortal Grade Martial Technique needed around a single day to master completely a Heaven Grade technique could even require several months! As for a Celestial Grade Martial Technique... One could consider him or herself insanely lucky if they could master it under a year!
Hence, hearing someone from the Nether Race was able to learn and master the Celestial Grade technique in less than a month... It was not an underestimation to say it was a ridiculous feat to achieve!
"The Nether Race was always famous for their insane talent of learning Martial Techniques with ease." Levia sighed before adding, "Though, I must admit I am truly shocked to learn they were able to master a Celestial Grade technique in mere days. Simply unbelievable."
"Indeed, this is something even I can hardly believe." Khal agreed with Levia with a nod and closed his eyes before opening them again, but this time instead of holding serenity the only thing visible in them was gravity.
Levia and the two guards noticed the change in Khal’s eyes and couldn’t help but think that the Khal from a few moments ago and the one currently were two different individuals.
Naturally, Khal understood the thoughts of the three in front of him, but didn’t care. Instead, he just silently examined the face of the Queen of the Fairy Race before him before sighing gently and shaking his head.
This simple gesture from him alone turned Levia’s face turn as white as a sheet of paper before she regained her composure and asked, "At least, can you please give me a reason why not? I just simply want to know the why."
