Chapter 426: Old Lady Appears Once Again!
"Sect Master... Do you really think this is the right thing to do?" standing under a small tree’s shade which was just a few meters away from Khal’s residence, Elder Rene looked at the long line of creatures with a slightly anxious look as every being before him was either a Limit Breaker or an Ascender!
Each of them had the ability to take on a smaller army alone and emerge as the victor much less wipe out a small sect like the Moon Sect which although experiencing a slight growth in strength ever since Khal’s arrival was still a small and weak sect.
Moon Sect would literally get erased from this planet’s surface if a single Ascender would go on a rampage, much less if several hundred did!
Senior Lin, standing next to Elder Rene and watching the same sight as him, crossed her arms behind her back and said, "No matter how scary it might seem to be, this is the right thing to do. No... This is the best thing we can do. This will greatly help our sect to grow."
"I hope Sect Master is right." Elder Rene sighed as he closed his eyes and fell into his own thoughts.
And just like that, the rest of the day passed in silence, creatures from various races entering Khal’s residence and leaving that with almost the same joyful expression on their faces. Only a few left with a somewhat disappointed complexion, but from the way their eyes shone with relief and a hint of excitement, it was apparent they have succeeded in forming a connection with both Khal and the sect.
"Was that the last one?" Khal asked as he let out a deep sigh and leaned back into his chair with a rather exhausted look. Right now, he looked almost as if he had run for hours straight without using any of his Body Essence.
[You have done a great job. Now, this sect not only will prosper in the following days and perhaps years, but you have acquired several allies too!]
"Yeah, at least, once I ascend to the Third Realm and I will be no longer present, they will be able to stand their ground with pride still." Khal nodded and was about to stand up when suddenly his body froze and his eyes widened almost as if he has gotten possessed by a spirit.
"Look at you, staring at me as if you have just seen a ghost. Am I really looking that scary to you?" a voice filled with age appeared in the room where Khal was currently in, while in front of him on the small wooden chair an old lady with a slightly hunched back was sitting.
However, despite her voice holding a hint of disappointment and sadness, her face filled with wrinkles showed a completely different picture as she was smiling with joy.
Khal stared with widened eyes at the old lady in front of him, and slowly, he began to sit back into his chair from where he wished to stand up a second ago.
[Isn’t she the one... That gave you that book?]
Upon hearing the words of Nova in his head, Khal didn’t say a word but just nodded. Though it was not because he didn’t want to, but because he couldn’t!
The old lady in front of him, right at this very moment although looking the very same as she looked just before the Thousand Life Tournament, now she leaked a presence that made even someone like Khal feel as if he was suffocated!
’Calm down. If she wanted to harm you she would have done so already.’ taking a deep breath, Khal slowly leaned back into his chair and said, "It has been a long time since we last met. How have you been?"
"Oh?" the old lady raised a brow when he saw that Khal was not nervous nor scared and soon showed an intrigued smile that revealed her row of teeth that surprisingly were not yellow or black, but white!
"Do you really think I won’t kill you right here and right now?" suddenly, the old lady’s eyes turned sharp and the temperature in the room plummeted almost below zero. Even the lingering presence of death appeared next to a dense killing intent, one that was thick enough to shake and scare anyone to their demise at once!
Khal, however, just kept sitting in his chair with a calm expression on his face and said, "If you really want to scare me with such a cheap trick, I have to disappoint you but it won’t work. Or at least not until you don’t really mean it."
The old lady kept his sharp gaze locked on Khal’s figure, but as she knew he was indeed right she just smiled and let out a somewhat cracked laugh.
"Haha, you are quite an amusing one. No wonder he has taken a liking to you."
"He?" Khal raised a brow as he didn’t know who the old lady was trying to refer to.
"Come on. You know perfectly well who I am talking about." the old lady stopped laughing, and with a mysterious smile pointed toward the ceiling.
"The Emperor of the Seven Realms, Hale."
"Huh?" Khal’s eyes widened and he felt as his mind went blank for a split second.
Emperor of the Seven Realms? Hale? The Supreme Existence that ruled over the Zero Realm? That Hale? He kind of suspected that Hale was an extremely powerful figure, one with almost absolute power, but he would have not thought he was the ruler over all the existing Realms!
That was just too much for him to comprehend at once.
"But... How? No, why did he take a liking to me, a no one? Especially someone like him. Makes no sense!" after coming to his senses, the very first thing Khal did was ask his doubts, at which the old lady just laughed.
"A no one? Are you sure about that?"
Then, pointing her bony finger at Khal’s wrist, she showed a mysterious smile, and asked, "Tell me, do you really think with something like that in your possession that you really are a no one?"
