Chapter 156: Chapter 156
Adam’s body went still.
For a moment, the room around him felt silent.
Bruno had said it like good news, but Adam did not hear it that way. World Zone had just returned. George had received a warning. The police were ready to look away if something happened to him.
And now Bruno was saying he had suddenly found a World Zone hideout.
The timing was too clean.
"Where are you?" Adam asked.
Bruno answered at once, "On the road, sir. I am going there now."
Adam’s fingers tightened around the phone.
"Who gave you that location?"
Bruno paused.
Inside the car, he glanced toward the men sitting with him. Rafi was in the front passenger seat. Toma was beside Bruno in the back, and two more men sat behind them. They had all been cheerful a few minutes ago. Finding a World Zone hideout sounded like the kind of thing that could make Bruno rise again.
Now, Adam’s voice made the air inside the car change.
"Sir," Bruno said carefully, "my network found it first."
Adam did not speak.
Bruno swallowed and continued, "After that, Gonda also told me the same thing. That confirmed it for me. If both sides pointed at the same place, then I thought they really were there."
Adam’s eyes became colder when Gonda’s name settled in his mind like a stone.
In the past, Gonda had already stepped close to betrayal. Even now, Adam had never trusted him fully. Gonda was afraid and ambitious. More than that, he always searched for a way to keep himself alive between stronger hands.
If only Bruno’s people had found the place, Adam might have stayed cautious.
If only Gonda had given the place, Adam would have doubted it immediately.
But both together meant something worse.
It meant the road itself might have been prepared.
Adam could almost see how it had been done. First Bruno’s own network would hear the location from someone it trusted. Then Gonda would come from another side and confirm the same thing. After that, Bruno would feel that he had checked the information from two directions.
That was exactly why it looked dangerous.
Good traps did not feel like traps at the beginning. They felt like a chance.
’Did Gonda sell them out?’ Adam thought.
He did not have proof yet.
But he did not need proof to stop Bruno from walking into a possible trap.
"Bruno," Adam said.
Bruno straightened without thinking.
"Yes, sir?"
Adam’s voice suddenly sharpened.
"Stop where you are."
Bruno blinked.
"Sir?"
"Stop the car right now," Adam said. "Do not go there. Turn back."
The shout made everyone in Bruno’s car look at him.
Bruno’s hand moved fast.
"Stop," he told the driver.
The driver hit the brake harder than needed. The car jerked once and slowed near the side of the road. A small truck behind them honked and went around them with an angry shout from the driver, but no one inside Bruno’s car cared.
Rafi turned his head.
"What happened?"
Toma’s hand moved toward the gun under his shirt.
Bruno ignored them both and pressed the phone harder to his ear.
"Sir," he asked, "is my life in danger again?"
Adam did not answer at once.
He was thinking.
He did not know yet whether this was a trap, but the shape was wrong. Gonda and Bruno’s network confirming the same place could mean one of two things. Either Bruno had truly found World Zone, or World Zone had allowed him to find exactly what they wanted him to find.
And if Gonda had added his own confirmation, then the matter became worse.
Bruno waited, but the silence made his chest tighten.
He looked through the front glass. The road ahead was not empty, but it suddenly felt wrong. Every car in front of them looked like it could slow down at any moment. Every small turn looked like it could hide men with guns.
Before Adam could speak, Rafi’s phone rang.
The sound was sharp inside the stopped car.
Rafi looked at the screen and frowned.
"It’s from the Rust Gate side," he said.
Bruno’s eyes moved toward him.
"Put it on speaker."
Rafi answered and turned on the speaker at once.
A panicked voice came through.
"Brother! Tobin is dead!"
The car became silent, and Bruno’s face froze.
The voice on the other side was shaking badly.
"They hit them on the way! Tobin and many of his men are dead. That location is not theirs. It is a trap!"
Rafi’s hand shook around the phone.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"I saw the bodies," the voice said. "Do not go there. Anyone who goes there is finished."
No one moved.
Even Toma’s hand stopped halfway under his shirt.
Bruno heard the words, but for a second his mind refused to accept them.
Tobin was dead.
The location was a trap.
And Bruno had been driving toward the same place.
His mouth went dry.
He had almost been smiling a few minutes ago. He had almost believed that this would be his big result. Now he understood that he had been one turn away from dying with his men.
On the other phone, Adam heard enough.
His expression became completely still.
The pieces had fallen into place.
World Zone had not only returned.
They had come for the bridge and the new chair at the same time.
Adam did not know every detail yet, but he knew one thing clearly.
Bruno could not be allowed to move one more step forward.
Bruno slowly looked at the road ahead.
For a moment, he could not even feel the seat under him. The car had stopped only a short while ago, yet it felt as if Adam’s shout had pulled him back from the mouth of death.
His men were staring at him now.
No one asked whether they should continue.
Adam’s voice came through the phone, cold and urgent.
"Turn your car back right now."
