Chapter 157: Chapter 157

Bruno did not waste even one second.

"Turn around," he said.

The driver looked at him through the mirror.

"Now!" Bruno shouted.

The car pulled away from the roadside and turned sharply at the first opening. A bike almost hit the side, and the rider cursed as he swerved away. Bruno did not look at him.

His mind was still on the call.

Tobin was dead.

The road had been a trap.

If Adam had not shouted at him at that exact moment, Bruno would have gone there too. He could almost see it. His car would enter some quiet road, and World Zone’s people would close the space from every side.

His throat felt dry.

He had survived many things in his life, but this was different.

This time, death had been waiting with his name already written.

He looked behind them through the rear glass.

For a second, he wondered if the danger had already spread behind them too. The people who had set the trap were watching the road. They already knew he had stopped, one more car would appear behind them and end everything before he reached the city.

The driver noticed him looking back and drove faster.

Bruno did not tell him to slow down.

Adam’s voice came through the phone again.

"Listen carefully."

Bruno straightened. "Yes, sir."

"You have two jobs."

Bruno’s eyes moved toward the men in the car. They were watching him with fear now. Not fear of him. Fear of the thing that had almost swallowed all of them.

"Two jobs?" Bruno asked. "What are they, sir?"

"First," Adam said, "eliminate the people in your network who confirmed that location."

Bruno’s eyes changed.

Adam continued, "They are compromised. It does not matter whether they were bought or scared. From this moment, they are a danger to you."

Bruno understood at once.

That was the part that made his back cold.

If Gonda alone had given him the place, Bruno would have been careful. Gonda was a boss, but Bruno had never forgotten how dangerous bosses were when they became afraid.

But the first news had come from Bruno’s own network.

That was why he had believed it.

Only after that had Gonda confirmed the same thing. It had not felt like a trap then. It had felt like proof.

Now Bruno understood.

The proof itself had been poisoned.

If those people stayed alive, the poison would spread again.

They could tell Gonda that Bruno had turned back. They could tell World Zone that the trap had failed. They could even pretend to be loyal and wait for the next chance.

Bruno could not allow that.

"I understand," Bruno said.

His voice was lower now.

Adam did not stop.

"Second."

Bruno waited.

"Your time has come," Adam said. "You will become the leader of Gonda’s gang."

For one second, Bruno forgot to breathe.

The fear in his chest disappeared so suddenly that it left him empty. Then something else rose in its place, a hunger he had carried for years.

He had dreamed of this from the time he first entered the gang as a small street thug. Back then, he had cleaned other men’s mistakes, carried weapons for people who barely remembered his name, and smiled when stronger men insulted him.

He had watched Gonda sit above everyone and thought again and again that one day, if he waited without being stupid, he would sit higher.

Now the words had come from the only person who could make that dream real.

He had not reached this point by being soft. He had bowed when he needed to bow and smiled when he wanted to curse. He had waited while Gonda kept him under his thumb.

All that waiting had finally found a door.

Bruno wanted to shout.

He wanted to ask if Adam was serious.

He wanted to laugh so loudly that the men inside the car would understand the world had changed.

But he held himself back.

He looked at Rafi, then at Toma. The others were watching too.

They were still tense, still waiting for the next order.

Bruno forced his face to stay controlled.

"And Gonda?" he asked.

Adam’s answer came without delay.

"Gonda will die Today."

Bruno’s fingers curled slowly.

For years, Gonda had been the ceiling above his head.

Now that ceiling had cracked.

Adam spoke again. "But do not rush at him yet."

Bruno’s excitement cooled just enough for him to listen properly.

"First remove the compromised people," Adam said. "If even one of them sends word back, Gonda may understand that you know."

Bruno looked out through the window.

That was true.

If Gonda realized too early, he would run or gather loyal men. Worse, he could call World Zone again and hide behind them before Bruno arrived.

"Use another line," Adam said. "Not the same men who gave you the information."

"Yes, sir."

"Cut those mouths quietly."

Bruno’s eyes became sharp.

"I will handle it."

Inside the car, Toma finally spoke in a low voice.

"Brother, what are we doing?"

Bruno did not answer him at once.

He looked at the phone instead.

Adam’s voice came one last time.

"Move fast. This chance will not come again." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Bruno’s grip tightened.

He knew that better than anyone.

The timing was cruel, but it was also perfect for him.

If Gonda survived this and learned the truth, Bruno would never sleep safely again. Every drink, every road, every friendly face would become a knife waiting for the right moment.

There was only one road left.

Bruno took a slow breath.

The fear was still there, but it no longer controlled him. It had turned into focus. The men who had confirmed the location had to disappear first. After that, Gonda’s base had to be sealed before news reached him.

He could not move like a frightened man.

He had to move like the next boss.

Bruno looked at Rafi.

"Call Jonny," he said.

Then he spoke into the phone.

"I am calling him now, sir."
