Chapter 88: Not Interested!
Darius could tell that the prince was being slightly sarcastic when he spoke about his services being good, but he neither minded nor dwelt on it. Once someone tried his services, none would be able to escape that addiction. While he himself did not know the feeling of enlightenment, he knew its importance, and even the Ruling Family would not mind losing face to visit his pavilion daily for it.
As for Wolf Fang, he was not sure whether the Eldest Prince would be able to uncover the secret they were hiding, but based on his estimation, the odds were low.
However, given the recent events, he was confident that even if the ruling family chose not to care about the threat posed by Wolf Fang, the interested parties...such as the guilds eyeing Dragon City for future development...would by no means turn a blind eye to it.
He estimated that news regarding Wolf Fang’s backer and their plans would soon leak out. Until then, Darius did not care. For now, he had ensured that Wolf Fang would no longer act as boldly as before and would instead enter a more passive state. As for whether that would change later on, that was a matter for another day.
As the saying goes: Why worry about the future when only God knows what it holds? Leave the future to God and rest your mind; He will not wrong you.
When Darius arrived at Apex’s Medicine Pavilion, he first comforted Shen and Annie. For the moment, Shen would definitely be unable to return to the Academy, but for Shen, this was truly a blessing in disguise.
What kind of place was Apex’s Medicine Pavilion?
A place that sold medicines!
There might be nothing else here, but when it came to alchemical pills, perhaps at least one-third of the supply in the entirety of Dragon City—no, in the whole Guardian Empire—could be found here. And if one were talking about high-grade alchemical pills, then most of them were distributed from this place to the various regions of Dragon City.
Naturally, by "this place," one meant all related branches and even the headquarters of Apex’s Medicine Pavilion, not merely the branch located within Dragon City.
Darius now regarded Shen as a true friend, so he naturally intended to request Harley to provide Shen with an unlimited supply of alchemical pills. At the same time, he himself would guide Shen a little on his path of cultivation.
Just think about it. Shen would have both an endless supply of alchemical pills and experts of higher cultivation realms guiding him. If his strength still failed to improve drastically under such conditions, then he truly ought to find a hole and bury himself in it.
While Darius himself was not some unparalleled cultivation genius, the important point was the pills and the occasional guidance from Harley and Gabriel whenever they had time. Such opportunities were by no means ordinary.
Shen and Annie naturally understood this logic, so they could not help but become even more grateful toward Darius. Both secretly decided that they would definitely repay him in the future.
After leaving Apex’s Medicine Pavilion, Darius had yet to return to the Immortal Pavilion when he was stopped midway and invited over by the Third Prince.
"Brother Darius!" The Third Prince was exuding the same dominating aura as his elder brother, though there was an added trace of concern on his face. "I heard that my Eldest Brother went to see you today?"
The moment the Third Prince heard about Darius and learned that Gabriel was backing him, he immediately abandoned whatever he was doing and rushed over. If his elder brother managed to coax Darius into joining his faction, then he might as well forfeit the throne. Under no circumstances did he want that to happen.
"Since Your Highness is already aware of it, then why ask a question whose answer you already know?" Darius replied directly. He was not the slightest bit interested in the competition between these two brothers and had no intention of involving himself in such troublesome matters.
"Hehe!" The Third Prince laughed. "I trust that Brother Darius would not be so easily moved by my Eldest Brother’s flowery words."
Darius could not help but smile and say, "That may not necessarily be true."
He then recounted the conditions that the Eldest Prince had offered. As the Third Prince listened, his expression constantly changed. Secretly, he felt that the Eldest Prince was truly ruthless to dare promise Darius the title of King and even assistance in breaking through to the Divine Sect Realm.
He suddenly felt as though Mount Uhud had been placed upon his shoulders and could not help but become worried. This seemed like an impossible battle to win. What else could he possibly offer Darius? Even the promises made by his Eldest Brother were not things that could be casually granted.
However, the moment he heard Darius’s next words, it felt as though Mount Uhud had been lifted from his shoulders. The pressure on his chest vanished, and he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
"Third Prince, you need not worry. I will not join his side. I have my pavilion to manage and no time for such games."
Darius left those words behind, offered a brief apology, and departed.
In a struggle for the throne, who would not be cold-blooded and ruthless? Even brothers of the same blood would not hesitate to stab each other in the back. Darius had no interest in involving himself in such conflicts.
Besides, the support he supposedly possessed from Gabriel was not nearly as great as everyone imagined. He was still merely a hatchling that had yet to grow. What real influence did he truly possess at the moment? Very little. Others were exaggerating his importance far too much.
As for the future... that was another matter entirely.
His words were clear, and even the Third Prince understood the hidden meaning behind them.
"Do not bother me anymore. I am not going to join your side either."
A cold glint flashed through the Third Prince’s eyes, and his face briefly showed a trace of anger before it quickly disappeared.
"Overestimating yourself," he muttered under his breath before turning around and leaving.
