Chapter 89: Holland General Manor! Luke...
As night fell, the two crescent moons called out to each other in the sky, radiating moonlight like a veil draped across the heavens.
The Sanctuary City of Dragon City, within the Guardian Empire...one of the busiest cities on the continent due to its location bordering demon territory...was still awake in the middle of the night. The streets were lively with people, and bright lights illuminated every corner of the city.
The Holland Manor was situated between the two main roads of Dragon City. It was one of the two great manors located just outside the City Lord’s Palace. The other was the Harvey Manor, which belonged to the Second General.
Within the great hall of the Holland Manor, a young man with disheveled hair and messy clothes could be seen kneeling shirtless on the ground with his head lowered. He did not dare lift his head to look at the elderly man seated above.
Below the elderly man stood a hairy middle-aged man, looking utterly helpless.
"Are you an idiot? You bastard, look at that son of yours! Coming home with a broken leg in front of the entire inner city? Why did I even bother raising such an unfilial son? You’re disgracing me even at your age! I’ve completely lost face because of both of you!"
The elderly Holland was furious, and his voice echoed throughout the manor. He pointed at Henry Holland while scolding him, saliva flying everywhere. His finger repeatedly poked Henry Holland’s forehead, causing him to stumble backward with every jab.
Henry Holland, a general of Dragon City, could only suppress his anger while being scolded by his father. He dared to feel angry, but he did not dare show it. Thus, he could only vent his frustrations on his disappointing son.
"Are you stupid? I told you that being playful is fine within limits, not to bully others and end up getting your leg broken! You’ve really made me lose face! When you’re outside, don’t tell people you’re from the Holland Family!" Henry Holland shouted.
His son returning home with a broken leg in public had caused their family to lose a great deal of face. A few days ago, he had still been laughing at how General Harvey’s son had wet himself after encountering a stronger demon during the latest academy tournament. And now his own son had done something just as embarrassing, yet hadn’t even managed to do anything to the other party. He had completely lost face before his peers.
He had only returned recently and learned of the incident. The moment he arrived, he had summoned his son, only for his own father to begin yelling at and beating him the entire time. He was truly enraged and wanted nothing more than to lock his son in a room and force him to cultivate for an entire year without rest.
The young man called Luke did not dare say anything. With both his father and grandfather still furious, anything he said would only make things worse.
Just as the tension in the great hall reached its peak, a small head peeked through the entrance and looked inside.
It was Katie Holland.
"Grandpa, Dad... Katie has returned!" Katie Holland skipped out from behind the doorway with a bright smile on her face.
When the elderly Holland saw Katie, his expression immediately became gentle and kind. He hurried over and said, "Oh my, my precious little girl. You’ve really frightened your grandpa. How could you agree to such a dangerous academy mission and leave without asking for my permission? Come, let Grandpa see if you’re hurt anywhere. Oh my, look at you, you’ve become thinner after being away from the city for so long..."
The elderly Holland lovingly patted Katie Holland’s head, affection filling his eyes.
Henry Holland was also all smiles.
"My obedient daughter, don’t take such academy missions anymore. Things aren’t safe in Dragon City right now. Let’s wait until this period passes, and Father will personally take you out to hunt demons."
Luke watched the scene expressionlessly.
At the same time, he felt the world was filled with corruption.
Why was it that even though they were siblings, the difference in treatment was this great?
Henry Holland noticed his gaze and immediately put on a stern expression.
He snorted and said, "What are you looking at? Hurry up and go train. If you don’t reach the ninth layer of the True Qi Realm this year, you’re really going to get it."
Luke immediately ran away as fast as he could. As he left, he even shot a pleading look at his little sister.
Slap!
The elderly Holland put on a stern face and smacked Henry on the back of the head.
"What are you looking at? Hurry up and go train. If you don’t reach the ninth layer of the Celestial Human Realm this year, you’re really going to get it."
When Katie Holland saw this scene, she immediately burst into laughter. Then she grabbed onto the elderly Holland’s beard and continued giggling.
She was Luke’s elder sister, and if not for her, Luke would have long since been beaten to death in the academy given his personality.
However, as she recalled what her father and grandfather had been discussing, a cold glint flashed through her eyes. It was so subtle that even her grandfather failed to notice it.
’Dare to break my little brother’s knee? If I don’t break your entire back, then I won’t be called Holland anymore.’
This was the first time she had been truly enraged.
She had faced all kinds of pursuers and enemies, yet only when her little brother’s leg had been broken did she realize she was capable of feeling such fury.
No matter whether he had been right or wrong, as his elder sister, she had to stand up for him.
’Immortal Pavilion, is it? Let’s see what you’re capable of.’
At that thought, she quickly hugged both her father and grandfather before leaving.
The smile adorning her face was so adorable that Henry could not help but continue smiling like an idiot even after she had left the room.
Slap!
"Wake up from your daydreaming, you useless son. Go train, or else—"
The elderly Holland did not even finish his sentence before Henry hurriedly fled the room, his face full of grievance.
