Chapter 309: Limit [ 1 ]

The warriors were still going strong; their two-minute limit was nowhere near reached yet, and the desert continued to unleash more monsters as if testing their insatiable hunger for combat.

The air thickened with dust and the sharp tang of spilled ichor, but none of it touched the small calm circle where Isis and his maid stood, the young master quietly admiring the endless golden sea as if it held every answer he could ever need.

The fight raged on unabated; men laughed and struck with relentless speed and skill while dismantling beast after beast beneath five blazing suns that bore down on everything, all while the sand whispered its constant shifting song beneath it all.

But then, a loud, resounding boom echoed across the desert, reminiscent of thunder cracking overhead. Ten enormous sand pillars shot straight up into the air, sending massive clouds of golden dust exploding outward in every direction.

The ground shook violently, tossing even the smaller monsters scrambling about like toys. For a brief moment, the entire battlefield fell silent as everyone turned to see what was approaching. Isis and his men shifted their attention simultaneously as the dust began to settle, revealing ten gigantic horse-like scorpion beasts that dwarfed the earlier ones, which now seemed like mere puppies in comparison.

These new creatures stood at least five times larger, towering over the desert with shoulders that must have been fifteen meters high. Their armored bodies were so thick and heavy that they caused the sand to sink beneath their weight even before they moved.

Their scorpion tails were longer and thicker too; the stingers at their ends glowed with a bright green venom that dripped in heavy globs onto the ground, hissing loudly as it burned deep holes into the dunes.

Dozens of glowing eyes scattered across their elongated heads locked onto Isis’s group with clear hungry intent while their segmented legs dug deep into the sand, poised to charge.

Surprisingly, Isis’s men didn’t appear scared at all. Instead, wild grins broke out on their faces; their eyes sparkled with pure glee and excitement like children who had just been told they could play with their favorite toys again after being bored for too long.

One warrior let out a loud laugh that carried across the dunes while Gunther, the scarred warrior, cracked his neck and spun his broadsword once in his hand to test its weight. They had just finished turning hundreds of smaller beasts into piles of meat when these larger ones appeared like a fresh challenge meant solely for them.

Before any of the ten giant creatures could take a single step or swing their massive tails, the men shot toward them with blinding speed, turning into streaks of light that cut through the hot desert air so quickly it was hard to track where they were at any moment.

The sounds of their clashes rang out sharply across the empty landscape as they disappeared and reappeared within seconds all over the dunes; only trails of light left behind and massive destruction followed each attack.

The battle escalated immediately. Gunther was first to reach one of the giant beasts, closing in what looked like a single blink before bringing his broadsword down in a heavy overhead strike.

The blade connected with its armored shoulder, creating an explosive sound that rolled out like thunder, the force carving a gigantic ravine hundreds of meters wide straight into the desert floor while sand flew up in a wall blocking light from five suns for an instant.

The giant scorpion roared in pain as its body staggered sideways under cracks spreading through its thick chitin plates but wasn’t done yet; it swung its massive tail around fast trying to impale Gunther with its glowing stinger.

Gunther grinned wider, narrowly dodging a strike before countering with a spinning slash that sliced deep into the segments of the creature’s tail.

Chunks of armored flesh flew through the air, and venom sprayed out in dangerous arcs, melting anything it touched. All around him, his comrades were engaged in similar fierce battles, each attack powerful enough to leave long, deep trenches in the sand, trenches that took time to fill back up as the desert tried to recover from the sudden violence.

Streaks of light flashed everywhere as the warriors blinked from one spot to another, their speed too quick for ordinary eyes to follow.

One warrior wielding dual curved daggers appeared on the back of another giant beast, driving both blades into a gap in its armor. With a swift twist and using his momentum, he flipped over its head and sliced across its multiple eyes in one smooth motion. The creature thrashed wildly, stomping down with its legs and creating more craters, but the man was already gone, reappearing on the ground below and launching upward again with a kick that shattered one of the beast’s front legs with a loud crack.

Nearby, another warrior swung his war hammer in wide circles to build up force before smashing it straight into the side of a different giant scorpion.

The impact was so heavy that the entire body lifted off the ground for an instant before slamming down again, creating a new ravine stretching hundreds of meters. The sand at its bottom glowed red hot from sheer power released.

No doubt about it, the beasts were strong; their armor thicker than that of smaller creatures and their tails whipping around with enough force to crush boulders. Yet, Gunther and his fellow warriors matched that strength easily, turning the fight into a chaotic dance of light and destruction where every clash sent shockwaves rolling across dunes and kicked up storms of glittering sand sparkling under five suns.

What had once been an endless quiet desert was now filled with booming sounds, the roars of giant monsters mixing with excited shouts and laughter from Isis’s men.

One beast managed to land a solid hit with its stinger grazing a warrior’s shoulder; venom hissed loudly as it burned through his clothes. But instead of fear or pain, he laughed it off, twisting away before retaliating with a punch that caved in part of the creature’s jaw, sending teeth and dark blood flying.

They scene was simply chaotic and gruesome.
