Chapter 79: In The Mines of Velmoira. Part-2.
’Despite being centuries old, The basic ’seal and authentication’ functions of the mine shaft entrance still working properly...’
’The technology of the Jauregia Empire is really quite durable to be able to withstand wear and tear for centuries and still work properly without a problem.’
While thinking about various things in his mind, Zephyr followed Xinran inside, and the door of the mine shaft closed on its own.
"The seal placed on this mine shaft entrance seems quite powerful."
Xinran nodded her head and replied calmly,
"Velmoira was once an extremely precious gem and was treasured by everyone. To prevent theft and other problems from arising, the mine had to be equipped with proper security and safety measures!"
"To ensure perfect security, they didn’t even use human laborers and miners to dig this mine; all of this mine and everything here you see was created with the help of robots and magic golems!"
"This is also the main reason why you will mostly only encounter rusty robots or broken golems with barely any energy left as enemies in this underground mine network..."
"There aren’t many monsters living in this mind despite its size due to the presence of these wandering golems and robots that fight any living creature they meet..."
Hearing those words, Zephyr frowned and asked,
"That also means that we will have to fight these golem and robot miners if we encounter them... Hopefully they are not too strong."
Xinran giggled at those words.

"What? Are you scared of some measly mining robots and golems?"
"Don’t worry, even I couldn’t get an upper hand on you during our battle, let alone these barely functioning ghosts of a bygone era."
Shaking her head, Xinran cast the illumination spell.
[Basic Magic: Glowing Mana Orb!]
A small ball of mana floated out of a magic circle and hung itself in empty air a few meters above Xinran’s and Zephyr’s heads, fully illuminating a hundred meters of area around them.
Originally Zephyr had thought that they might have to travel in complete darkness, but it turned out that he had underestimated how versatile a powerful mage can be.
"Can a martial artist use basic-level magic? Can I learn this spell? It seems quite useful."
Hearing those words, Xinran shook her head.
"Of course you can learn magic."
"Didn’t you notice it back when I was fighting you? I used sword skills and even have a strong physique."
"If you remove my powerful magic, I would still be able to rank among the very best with just my physical body and various skills that are almost at the same level as top-ranking knight’s!"
"I have learned martial arts, swordsmanship, and various other weapons too..."
Xinran shrugged her shoulders before continuing to speak.
"I have always believed that a person’s limit is determined by their ambition."

"To further on the ’Path’ of self-improvement, one must be able to determine their own future properly and understand their own unique methods of improvement."
"But of course, it depends on you what you want to become. You have immense talent in martial arts, but I don’t know whether you really have talent for magic or not."
Hearing Xinran’s words, Zephyr felt a bit discouraged.
He was clear about his own talent, and he knew that the main reason why he was able to make rapid progress in the field of martial arts was mainly because of the talent ’Indestructible Body.’
If not for this talent, he would have been dead long ago.
Although this talent was powerful, it was more martial arts oriented and had nothing to do with magic.
’I don’t have any magic-related talents... will I still be able to learn magic without a magic talent?’
Although Zephyr wanted to give it a try, he wasn’t going to do it right now.
Not only was he inside an unknown danger-filled area right now, he had no knowledge about magic at all.
The magic circuit that Xinran created to manifest the ’Glowing Mana Orb’ was extremely small and simple-looking, but to Zephyr, the mana structure inside seemed extremely complex.
’It’s like a mathematical diagram made using hundreds of precise calculations... there’s no way I can learn something like that by just imitating her mana flow...’
’Unless I get something from the system related to magic, I will likely have to study magic seriously if I want to really learn it.’
Thinking this far, Zephyr asked Xinran in his usual calm voice,
"How does one start learning magic?"
Hearing that question, Xinran gave Zephyr a strange look before shaking her head lightly and replying in a calm voice,

"If it was a few decades ago, you could have been imprisoned for asking this question in the Jauregia empire you know?"
"Back then only children from powerful and prestigious families were allowed to learn magic; others were forced to abandon this path by the powerful families for the sake of keeping all the power to themselves."
"But well, the empire has already collapsed, and it’s not like those old rules matter anymore, so it won’t be a big deal if you learn magic..."
Xinran glanced at Zephyr and spoke,
"I have magic-related books in my book collection; if you read them all, you will be able to establish your foundation and become a proper mage."
"But as I said before, you will have to do work for me if you want to borrow the books from me."
"Knowledge is power, little Zephy; you can’t possibly be thinking that I will hand it all over to you easily, right?"
At those words, Zephyr could only shake his head in helplessness.
"Tch, you are so stingy; all I wanted was to learn the illumination spell."
Hearing Zephyr’s annoyed tone for the first time, Xinran giggled in victory as she had finally managed to make Zephyr struggle!
’Keke, just you wait, little Zephy; I have already held your weakness firmly in my hands. Your thirst for knowledge will be the reason for your downfall!’
’Sooner or later, you would be mine whether you like it or not, hehe~"
