Chapter 78: In The Mines of Velmoira. Part-1.

"As for me, I have been to this place quite a few times; the miasma here already recognizes me as a great threat, so every time I come here I have to keep a low profile and avoid getting into fights..."

"The miasma here has become highly adapted to my powers; that is also one of the main reasons why I invited you to join me."

"With you here, I won’t have to take action personally, and many problems can be solved."

While saying those words, Xinran flew down and dragged the floating bubble behind her as well.

Soon enough, both of them were back on the solid ground, and the crimson bubble around Zephyr disappeared.

Xinran then brought out a silver bracelet from her space ring and wore it on her right hand; her aura immediately became concealed, and Zephyr could sense that darkness and shadow elementals seemed to have wrapped around her body.

"You have the ’Obelisk’ to protect you from corruption; unless the density of miasma is exceptionally high, you will be pretty much immune to its effect."

"As for me, I will be using this artifact to borrow the power of the ’Darkness’ element to hide my presence and existence from miasma to avoid corruption..."

"Unless there’s too much miasma, I should be able to conceal myself, but I have used this artifact in this place quite a few times, so its effectiveness here has likely decreased due to miasma adapting to it."

"So I would try to remain as low profile as possible; the combat and other difficult work will have to depend on you alone."

Hearing those words, Zephyr nodded his head and asked curiously,

"I thought miasma and the ’Darkness’ element were pretty much the same powers? Is it really possible to use the ’Darkness’ element to deal with miasma?"

At Zephyr’s words, Xinran smirked a bit and explained in a calm voice,

"Light and darkness, these are two fundamental aspects of the world that belong to the natural world order. Although they are opposite in power to each other, they both fall into the category of ’Elemental Powrs’..."

"Mana and miasma, on the other hand, are energy forms! They belong to a completely different ’Law’ of the world, and the power and authority in their hands are stronger than the basic elementals of the world!"

"Just like Mana and Light are two different things, Miasma and Darkness elements are two separate powers!"

While talking, Xinran adjusted equipment, checked the map of the capital again, and made final preparations for the journey.

"Darkness element excels in ’concealment,’ ’shadow,’ ’unpredictability,’ etc. aspects and powers. Unlike miasma, darkness does not corrupt people and is in fact a very powerful elemental affinity that people can awaken..."

"Just like the light elemental powers, if a person had dark elemental affinity, they would have high resistance to miasma corruption, as the dark element would make them more resistant to illusions, deceit, and other underhanded tactics!"

"I have heard of people possessing light affinity getting corrupted and falling from grace before many times, but I have never heard of a person who’s a favorite of darkness falling into miasma’s grasp easily..."

Hearing those words, Zephyr realized that this magical world was really fascinating and filled with mysteries.

’A person who’s already a death row criminal and is already walking on the edge of death cannot be further degenerated than that. Darkness seems to work the same way...’

’The power of darkness is bone-chilling and sinister in itself, but that in turn also makes the user more resistant to further degradation from miasma...’

Although Zephyr was fascinated by all these aspects, the most shocking thing was still the fact that Xinran had so many powerful artifacts in her hands that she could keep borrowing various kinds of powers.

"Let’s get going. From the looks of things, our teleportation destination didn’t deviate much compared to what I had planned, so we can head straight towards the goal..."

Xinran folded her wings, took a low-profile approach, and decided to head towards an underground mine shaft entrance hidden in the cover of several big hills.

"No matter how much we try to conceal ourselves, if we try to enter through the front door of the city, we are bound to get discovered; flying or jumping from a wall will also result in the same outcome."

"Once discovered, we will not be just confronting the madly angered miasma; we will become the sole target of all the hundreds of thousands of monsters and horrors residing in that city!"

"Although I hate to admit it, even I am not sure if I can actually deal with such a massive monster horde head-on, so it’s better to sneak our way in."

The journey to the mine shaft entrance was pretty smooth.

As the entrance was located several kilometers away from the city and the influence of miasma here was still manageable, they didn’t encounter any monsters or trouble along the way and made it through easily.

"So this is an ancient mine that was once used for digging ’Velmoira’?"

Hearing Zephyr’s question, Xinran nodded her head.

"Yes. As I told you before, the city of Velmoira once used to be a giant mining town. To dig for gems, a dense network of mines was created in this land."

"Although people switched to trade and other businesses later on, these mines have always existed beneath the city for centuries!"

"And as these mines were created using magic and powerful artifacts, many of them are still in good conditions until this day!"

"We can use this dense network of underground mines to make our way straight into the city of Velmoira."

While explaining the basic details of the situation, Xinran led Zephyr to a hidden entrance, used her unique magic fluctuation to open the seal on it, and brought out a strange card the size of an adult’s palm.

A robotic voice rang out from a small speaker installed in the metal alloy entrance of the mine shaft, surprising Zephyr.
