Even though the rewards seemed pretty good, Dhruv remained frustrated by the fact that he was constantly getting these options.
"Why am I even cursing the cosmos when I’m the one who consistently uses the spear in the battle? Of, course they would give me one" Dhruv murmurs.
After reading the description carefully, one thing that manages to catch his attention about this evolution is that he could select one arm mutation for free.
’So, I can evolve my arm in a way that it could fit perfectly in any field I want, that’s pretty neat,’
Keeping this in mind, he opened the description of the third option
[Master Asteri Mage: With this evolution, you would evolve into Master Mage. With the power of mystical energy at your fingertips, you can elevate your species to new heights. After taking the evolution you would sincerely follow the path of mystical arts but would still be able to perform warrior feats.
With this evolution, you would get the organ [Sorcerer’s eyes] for free.
The skills <Elemental brust>, <Multipliy>, <Aura cleansing>, and <Arcane mapping> will be provided with a bonus of 40 in Magical power and 20 in Strength. ]
"Ohhh! This is good, And this could be considered as an upgrade to my current class."
This evolution wasn’t the best but still an upgrade nonetheless.
With a curious gaze, he clicked on the sorcerer’s eyes to learn more about the organ...
[Sorcerer’s eyes: The eyes of a sorcerer are a vital tool during the study of the art of mana or while fighting his adversary. Your skill [Mana sensitivity] will be integrated into this organ and become your innate ability. The more you mutate this organ, the more features will be unearthed.]
’Even the organ is medicare, but efficient nonetheless..’
Dhruv understands the potential of this organ if used correctly. First of all, nobody would be able to hide from him as he could directly see their mana signature.
Secondly, during the creation of the spell, he could know and see the precise amount of mana required for the blueprint. And many more things he wouldn’t even be able to think about at the moment.
After carefully understanding the pros and cons of this evolution, he proceeded to click on the description of the [Master Asteri Warrior].
The warrior had almost the same description as his magician counterpart, and if he took this as his evolution option, he would be able to control the weapon more perfectly, but still be able to use magic but not this perfectly.
After choosing this evolution all his magic affinity will drop down to rank ’f’ which was the lowest anyone could get.
But there wasn’t just a negative aspect of this evolution.
If he chose this evolution, he would be gifted with an organ named [Qi Generator], With the help of this organ, a different type of energy would be constantly generated within him, and the name of the energy was qi.
Its function is mostly the same as mana. The main difference is that qi is best suited for enhancing the weapon and body, while mana is mostly used for spell creation.
But that wasn’t the end and one could find various ways to efficiently use qi or mana, given that he or she has enough time. And time was the very thing Dhruv lacked the most.
Last but not least, he clicked on the option [Asteri progenitor]
[Asteri Progenitor: You are the creator and the first member of the species Asteri. With this evolution, you will proclaim your seat as the progenitor and will truly become one with your species. Your strength will correspond with the number of members in your species. As a progenitor, the only thing you need is authority—nothing less, nothing more.
With this evolution, all your previous magic affinity will be removed, and from now on, the only type of magic you will be able to use is [Authority magic]. Your rank in the Authority magic will be set to ’SSS’ which is the highest. Please note that you won’t be able to use magic of any other sort.
Five free organs will be given during the evolution. The Energy spent during the evolution will be halved. There will be a bonus of 50 in all of your stats.]
While reading the description, Dhruv couldn’t help biting his lip. He lifted his foot in the air, then slammed it into the floor in front of the throne.
The loud echo traveled through the room as he shouted with frustrated looks,
"What the fuck is this garbage? Is this the reward, one should get from an evolution of Unique rank? Man, this shit is even more trashy than the Spearman evolution.."
With clear frustration on his face, he mimics a motion as if he’s tearing something apart, even though there’s nothing in his hand.
Dhruv had very high hopes for this evolution, especially since it was the first Unique rank evolution he’d encountered.
As they say, the higher your hope, the greater your disappointment will be—and that was exactly what had happened with him.
"Man my disappointment is immeasurable and it sure had ruined my day..’ he thought,
Even with all this disappointment he sighed and began to count the pros and cons of this evolution.
He began with the cons as there weren’t many pros in this evolution he could find,
The very first thing that struck his nerve was the realization that all the hours he had spent learning all various types of magic spells be gone just like that. It wasn’t like it was gone and he could learn it once again... no it was gone for good.
Furthermore, there was another problem. he wasn’t exactly sure about this but with how the description had mentioned all his affinity would be removed, then maybe for it to remove the fire affinity it would directly remove his exclusive ability Pheonix born.
And if that were to happen—which once again he wasn’t too sure of—he would lose one of his most important defensive skills, fire immunity.
The next thing was that his strength would depend on how many members there were in his species, which were zero at the moment—one he counted himself.
This means he would be at his weakest at this moment and that would completely defeat the point of this evolution.
Now the most problematic thing was that he would get an affinity to Authority magic, which sounds like high—like really high-level level stuff. which would sure be very hard to learn and he wasn’t getting any skill of this authority magic on top of all this. Which really hit the last nail of the coffin.
"How does this even work, isn’t authority more like a concept rather than being an element.." Dhruv found himself more confused the more he tried to find an answer.
With a confused expression, he began to think about the pros of this evolution...
