Chapter 289: Truely An Addict
While Vexar was busy fighting the boss, Grec, on the other side, was massacring all the spider minions.
’Spiders aren’t really monsters that have good attacking power... to win a fight they have to rely on their surroundings very much.’ He came to this conclusion from all the fighting he had done in the cave.
Along with that, Grec has noticed another thing. The spider from this cave tends to attack in great numbers... meaning they didn’t really have great individual power.

Grec didn’t even have to spend too much energy killing the monsters. Before fighting, he had created a barrier separating the boss from its minions. And now he was slaughtering them like bugs.
Each stone spear he fires kills tens of monsters. It took him some time, but eventually, all the spiders were killed without any problem. Clearing the space in front of him, he began to observe the fight once again.
’Huh!... Well, isn’t this a surprise,’ A frown appeared on Grec’s face as he assessed the situation of the battle. From what he could see, Vexar was on the losing side.
Standing still the goblin tried to find the reason behind Vexar being on the losing side.
A few seconds of battle was enough for him to find the problem. The spider was a monster that possessed the ability to counter Vexar’s skills.
From what he could see, neither Vexar’s spells nor his slashes were strong enough to get past the monstrous defense the spider possessed. Its exoskeleton along with eight legs was proving to be a great challenge for the swordsman.
As Grec watched them exchange more attacks, the frown on his face seemed to get deeper. No matter how he looked, Vexar seemed to be at a disadvantage from all sides.
’Should I help him...’ Grec really considered stepping into the battle. He didn’t want his brother to get heavily injured without any reason.
Manipulating his mana Grec wanted to step in, but for some reason, he stopped. Something inside him was telling him not to make the move.
Grec wasn’t oblivious to what he was feeling. Deep inside he knew he shouldn’t be interfering in the fight.
’Damn! This demon and his obsession with battle...’
Just as he was obsessed with wealth, he knew the demon was obsessed with battle. Just as he wouldn’t tolerate anyone touching his wealth, Vexar wouldn’t like when anyone interfered with his fight.
Grec’s steps had stopped... as a respect from one addict to another.
’...Still,’ Grec thought as he made up his mind. He would intervene if he found it necessary.
While he was still in the middle of his thoughts, something happened. The temperature around the cave began to increase as a condensed blue fire appeared in the palm of the demon.
’Huh! He really likes to savor it, doesn’t he?’ With a smile, he began to enjoy the battle.
The fireball had cost two-thirds of his mana, but Vexar was sure it would have some effect on the monster. Without thinking twice, he hurled it toward the demon.
As the fireball flew through the air, its blue flames illuminated the cave with an eerie light and Vexar’s focus sharpened in the familiar light. His breath came in measured, controlled bursts as his grip on the sword tightened.
The spider, confident in its defense, didn’t think of dodging the attack, prompting the fireball to hit squarely on its massive head as it exploded in a burst of searing heat and light.
Hissssss!
The spider screeched in pain as the first real sign of damage descended upon its body. Its eyes burned with a rage that sent a thrill down Vexar’s spine.
The exoskeleton cracked slightly where the fireball had struck, and Vexar’s eyes glinted with terror.
"This is it," he muttered, a manic grin spreading across his face. For him, the fight had just begun.
"HERE I COME..."
With a roar, Vexar charged at the monster, not caring about his defense as his sword slashed through the air with a fury that matched the intensity of the blue flames.
With unreal precision, Vexar struck at the cracks in the exoskeleton again and again, aiming to widen them and penetrate the monster’s formidable defenses. Each strike was met with resistance, but his relentless assault began to take its toll.
The spider didn’t stand still either as it retaliated with a vengeance. Its massive legs lashed out, each strike aiming to carve a part of the demon’s body.
One leg caught Vexar in the side, sending him skidding across the cavern floor trapping him in a web of silk. He grunted in pain, feeling the sharp sting of a broken rib. But the pain only fueled his fury.
Standing to his feet, he unleashed a flurry of slashes, each strike fused with his burning mana. His sword glowed crimson as he imbued it with his mana, each hit growing more powerful.
The spider’s exoskeleton began to show signs of strain, with cracks spiderwebbing across its surface.
The monster hissed in fury, its eyes blazing with a sickly green light. It spat a jet of webbing at Vexar, who incinerated it with a burst of flame from his free hand.
Both of them lost themselves in battle as the air filled with the acrid smell of the burning web and the sound of combat.
The spider lunged, its fangs aimed at Vexar’s throat. He sidestepped, feeling the rush of air as the fangs snapped shut inches from his neck.
Pulling bottles of mana from his pocket, he drank them all. With a swift motion, he slashed at the creature’s underbelly, aiming for the softer parts between the armored plates.
Infused with pure flame, the sword cut deeper this time, drawing dark blood from the wound.
Hissssss!
The spider reared back, its scream of pain echoing through the cavern.
"Hahahahahah!! Don’t cry yet... let me feel it..." Hearing the scream Vexar roared back.
