Chapter 286: Search For The Boss

"You all focus on the minions. I will take care of the boss," Vexar announced as he looked at the spider in front of him.

After searching for what felt like an eternity, they had located the last lesser boss. Killing this one meant they would only have to find the main boss and kill it to conquer this dungeon.

Looking at the monster before him, Vexar ignited his sword with fire. Its blade quickly turned red as he leaped into the air. Landing beside the monster, he slashed at its leg.

Sensing the attack spider quickly jumped and fired a blob of web at the demon. The silk reached the target but was burned to ashes instead of bounding the target.

The spider understands the danger as instead of fighting on the ground, the spider crawls on the ceiling and begins to fire blobs of poison and web at the invaders below.

"You coward... fight me head-on!" Vexar shouted, finding the spider crawling on the roof annoying. He wanted a straightforward fight not a game of tag.

"Should I bring him down?" Grec’s voice reached him.

Vexar knew that this Tier IV goblin could kill the spider without breaking a sweat... his affinity countered the monster perfectly, after all.

"No need. you stay out of this. Why don’t you mine some more stone of yours?" Not wanting his fun to end this quickly, Vexar replied.

"Well, as you order, my brother." Saying these words, Grec began to cut slices of the cave with the help of [Space Slash] and started packing them in his inventory.

Surprised to find his word working Vexar focused on the monster again.

’Man, instead of fun, this will get annoying...’ Vexar thought as he watched the spider puking poison and silk from its butt.

"Gross."

Muttering these words, he began manipulating his mana and infusing it into his blade. Satisfied after a bit, he aimed it toward the monster and fired the attack he had named [Fire Infused Slash].

A pure slash of fire reached the spider. Using its agility to the fullest, the monster dodged the attack... it had saved itself from the slash, but the roof had no way of dodging itself.

Chunks of rock dropped from the roof as the slash cut through a large section of it. Found it a success Vexar repeated the process until the monster was forced to drop to the floor.

"Now what will you do..." He mocked the fallen monster.

Shrieking, the monster charged toward him. Dodging it perfectly, Vexar aimed for its stomach.

Thun!

The exoskeleton proved to be strong as the blade bounced off the monster. Seeing his attack fail, Vexar clicked his tongue. His normal attack wasn’t doing a thing.

"Playtime is over, I guess..." Whispering these words, Vexar ignited his sword with pure flame and aimed at the spider’s head.

The monster tried to dodge, but it wasn’t a match for Vexar’s swordsmanship. The sword slashed through the head like a knife through butter. The head rolled on the floor as the monster dropped to the ground.

[You have killed a mons...]

’Booorrrinng..’ Not satisfied with the fight he looked toward others.

They seemed to be doing just fine as well. It was expected, as almost all of them had evolved into Asteries.

Here in the spider dungeon, it wasn’t hard to kill the boss. It was hard to find the location of the monster. They had spent who knows how much time locating this one and would probably take even more to find the final boss.

Looking toward Grec, he muttered, "Grec, if you don’t mind..."

Nodding, the goblin reached the corpse and placed it inside his inventory. Alaric had already ordered them to keep every important corpse with them. They were too valuable to leave behind.

With nothing else to do, Vexar met with the others and began to clear the monsters as well. With his addition, the burden dropped to almost nothing as all the minions were killed within minutes.

"Is everyone here..." the old man stepped forward and began to headcount. After making sure that everyone was alright, he looked toward Vexar.

"My lord, everyone is here... we can advance further... If you like?" he asked with a smile.

"Of course, we’re going further... do you think I would leave without killing the boss?" Raising an eyebrow, he looked at the old man.

"O-Of course not, my lord. We will advance." Shivering just from the look, the old man agreed.

Nodding his head, Vexar began to lead the way. Grec and everyone else followed without making a sound. Nobody likes it when the demon gets angry.

After walking for some time, the group found an intersection. The cave is split into four sections here.

This was the very thing that wasted most of their time. It wasn’t often but they continuously found paths that led into multiple ways, some ending with nothing while others met ahead.

Some even led to a totally different section of the dungeon. Even with the [Map maker], traversing this dungeon was truly hell.

’Can’t this just be straightforward?’ A frown appeared as Vexar knew that once again time would be wasted.

Sighing, Vexar looked at the four sections. Instead of dividing the group, he cast the spell [Emberplay] and summoned three fire spirits. Ordering, he sent each to one of the sections.

The group entered the fourth section and began to wander ahead.

The fight continued as monsters appeared here and there. After reaching this deep in the dungeon, they were encountering tier III monsters most of the time, so the level of the group was increasing steadily.

After a while, two of the spirits returned to him, but the last one was still following the path. Not having much hope, he continued on his path.

After walking for a while, Vexar was forced to stop. The group found a dead end the path he took led to nowhere.

’This is the wrong one as well...’ Nodding his head, he turned around.

Three of the sections had turned out to be duds, so Vexar focused on the last spirit. A smile appeared on his face as he found something hopeful.

The spirit had found a new section of the cave, and to make it even more interesting, it was filled with webs all around.

’There is a high chance of the boss being there.’ thinking this he increased his footsteps.
