Chapter 178: What Dungeon Core, Master?
Even after the death of the Goblin Shaman, the fight was still going on without any hindrance, and from the looks of it, it wouldn’t stop soon either. Slowly but surely, the numbers of the goblins were getting fewer and fewer.
Finally, at the end of the tenth minute, the last goblin was about to meet his end as well.
Looking at the goblin mage in front of him, Dhruv cast one of his hybrid spells. An invisible spear began to move and shot forth from his hand toward its unsuspecting victim.
The stone helmet that the monster had created around his skull with the help of magic didn’t provide any defense as the invisible spear simply tore through it. With his skull penetrated, the monster fell down to his death.
Looking at the corpse of the goblin he had just killed, a whisper left his mouth.
"Is that it..." Dhruv whispered as he turned around to see if there were any other goblins left and this one was the truly last.
Even after using Mana sense, he couldn’t find anything else except for the numerous cores that were begging to get picked up. Not finding other goblins, he assumed that everyone was dead.
Dhruv was about to walk toward Vexar when a connection was established in his mind.
[Master, I’ve found the portal.] Alaric’s voice rang in his head.
[What took you so long?] Dhruv couldn’t help but ask this question. It had been almost an hour since they had parted ways.
[Master, I was following the wrong clues. Even after carefully looking inside all the caves across the floor, I couldn’t find anything... So, I had to change my search parameter. After changing it I was able to find it on the portal pretty soon.] Alaric explained why it had taken him this long to find the portal.
[It wasn’t in the cave, then where was it?] Dhruv asked this question with clear curiosity on his face.
[It was hidden in the hollow space of a giant tree,] Alaric answered.
’The portal was hidden in the cavity of the tree, well that was pretty damm amazing.’ While thinking about this he focused on the connection again.
[Mark that location on your map and come south, where the other village is,] Dhruv replied.
[As you wish, Master] saying this Alaric was about to cut the connection but stopped when he heard that there was something Dhruv was telling.
[How many holes are there, beside the tree?] Dhruv was asking about the hole in which the core would be placed.
[Two, Master... there were two holes. One on top of the portal, while the other one was on the bottom,] Alaric replied without any hesitation.
[Okay... Come here quickly.] With those final words, Dhruv cut the connection and focused on what he was doing.
’What was I about to do?’ he thought as he tried to remember what he was doing before Alaric had called. Before he could think about anything else, he heard a voice coming from beside him.
"Master, everything is done here. Should we move to the third floor at this moment, or are we going there tomorrow?" Vexar asked, a clear smile hanging upon his face.
"Well, you look quite happy. I presume the fight didn’t happen very fast, and you were able to enjoy every moment," Dhruv asked as he looked at Vexar and his smile.
"Yes, something like that, Master," Vexar answered. He was about to repeat his previous question but stopped when he noticed that Dhruv was about to continue speaking.
"As for your other question, No... we aren’t going to attack the third floor today. It had been almost three hours since we parted ways with the others, and we hadn’t told them that we were going to be fighting monsters, so they must be waiting for us."
"We will return after meeting with Alaric," Dhruv explained that he didn’t have any plans for fighting on the third floor yet.
There were a few more reasons for him not to fight on the third floor today, besides the reason he had mentioned.
The very first and the topmost reason would be that he didn’t have a clue about what would happen if he went to the third floor at this moment.
If he were to do that would the second floor disappear or not?
This question sounds comical and it was after all even Dhruv had almost laughed at himself when this question had appeared in his mind. After all, why would the first floor or second floor disappear if a person entered the second or third floor?
But what made him stick to the question is that this cosmos didn’t follow any rules or something like that. For example, during the wave, there wasn’t a single goblin shaman that had appeared, but here... here in the dungeon, it was the boss of an entire floor.
The same could be said with the availability of the beast in the dungeon.
So, Dhruv had the hypothesis that Cosmos could remove the second floor after finding out that there was no use for it.
The second reason was that he would have to face a horde of Tier 3 monsters just after entering the floor. He came to this conclusion after comparing that he almost needed one hour of traveling before reaching any village on the first floor. But here... here he could almost reach the village after traveling for ten to twelve minutes.
Talking about fighting monsters, he didn’t have an ounce of idea what type of boss he had to face after entering the village. After all, he didn’t want to face a Tier 4 monster unprepared.
After considering all these points, he didn’t want to risk anything and decided to just proceed with caution.
Knowing that Alaric would take some time to reach the place, both of them began to pile up the monsters in a single particular area so it would be easier for him to store all of the corpses in the shadow in one go.
While piling the corpses, Dhruv remembered something. Turning around, he faced Vexar and asked,
"Vexar, where is the dungeon core?"
Vexar looked at Dhruv as if he had heard this word for the first time. Looking at his master, he simply replied,
"What dungeon core, Master?"
