Chapter 29: Tempest Wolf
The explanation made sense. Lightning’s destructive force should easily get rid of any stone, but Jessica was no stone — she was a living and breathing human.
Cole wanted to ask further, but just as he thought about opening his mouth, another bolt filled with intense current rushed right past his figure, hitting Jessica behind him.
The lightning bolt was like a hammer striking hot iron, chipping away the stone and dirt from Jessica’s figure.
Ethan looked at his elder sister’s current state and mournfully said,
"If only there was a way to receive lightning without having to deal with such a natural disaster, how beautiful it would have been."
After saying those words, he could only let out a sigh. If there had been any way, they would have long found it with his family’s influence, but there was not. Even if there were, it was bound to be outside human territory.
Cole did not say anything, but only watched everything with a muted look on his face.
It was then, suddenly, that the fire-breathing wolves started acting wildly, their two eyes burning like furnaces as they stared into the distance.
"Howl!"
"Argh! Damn it... I knew something would definitely happen."
After saying those words, Ethan rushed to the fire-breathing wolves and released the iron chains binding them. If anything attacked them now, the wolves would be unable to defend themselves.
Once freed, the wolves looked at Ethan gratefully and stood in front of the chariot in a defensive stance, their intentions clear — they would not let a single threat pass.

Ethan looked at this scene with a gleeful smile on his face.
"The fire-breathing wolves’ reputation is really well deserved..."
He had long heard about the fire-breathing wolves’ reputation as absolutely loyal beasts who would defend their master to death. Now he had seen it with his own two eyes.
Then he turned to Cole and said,
"Customer, although you are strong, please stay close to the carriage. Unlike normal beasts, the monsters residing in the Thunder Domain are in a league of their own. Just to deal with a single monster at the peak of the Nascent Trainee Realm, a fully armed squad of human warriors is needed."
"Hm."
Cole simply nodded, not letting his thoughts leak.
In this world, a fully armed squad consisted of three physical-path warriors and one mage.
Cole was not a conceited person who would easily touch the sky just after gaining a little bit of strength. He knew how to remain grounded. That was why, even though his strength had increased by leaps and bounds in a short amount of time, he also stayed alert.
Instantly, his hand moved toward his back pocket, silently taking out one bottle of mana potion, while in his other hand he held the iron sword tightly, ready to engage in battle at a moment’s notice.
Time continued to pass. With each passing moment, the thunder above their heads intensified, raining over a dozen lightning bolts in a single moment. At this point, it simply looked as if it were raining lightning. If not for the lightning rods attracting all the lightning bolts, by now the chariot would have long been destroyed.

Ethan looked at this scene with clear worry and confusion in his eyes.
"What changed this time? During our past visits, the storm was never this intense...!"
His voice was shaking from growing anxiety. Beads of sweat appeared all over his face before sliding down. By now, the growing pressure from the current was becoming unbearable. Even with the chariot protecting them, the surroundings had darkened completely beneath the thunderclouds. Only the falling lightning bolts lit up the surroundings briefly.
Taking a deep breath, Cole turned to Ethan and asked in a loud voice,
"Can you command these wolves?"
Although Ethan did not understand why he was asking this question at this time, as someone who had fed these wolves from a very young age, Ethan could easily command them.
"Good."
Cole saw this response and let out a sigh of relief. He was not that overconfident to believe whatever threat was coming their way, he was strong enough to deal with it alone. Having loyal wolves as helpers was always welcome.
It was then that the sound of rapid footsteps came from ahead. Cole followed the sound and saw multiple figures rushing in their direction.
"They are here...!"
Ethan shouted loudly.

Even before he had spoken, the fire-breathing wolves’ figures had already turned tense, their eyes narrowing into slits, ready to engage in battle at a moment’s notice.
Cole was not a veteran war master, but he had a fair share of experience in dealing with crowds.
"Don’t engage. Let these monsters come closer."
In another brief moment, the mysterious attacker revealed itself — a colossal apex predator, its body resembling a wolf fused with a drake, covered in black scales veined with glowing blue lightning, every heartbeat sending arcs of electricity dancing across its hide.
Just like its aura, the monster’s presence was even more overwhelming. Towering over five meters, the monster’s six bounding legs seemed to tear through the burnt earth, while two arced horns on its head acted as natural lightning rods, constantly drawing energy from the heavens.
"Tempest Wolf...!"
Ethan cried out loud, recognizing the monster immediately.
Tempest Wolves were a grade above ordinary monsters like fire-breathing wolves and below terrifying mana monsters like lightning worms.
Cole scanned the monster ahead and felt his heartbeat accelerate. He could feel a deep emotion stirring deep within his veins.
"A.I. chip, start analyzing the monster..."
[Request accepted. Initiating analysis.]
Cole had no choice but to rely on real-time analysis. If he had information about these monsters beforehand, he would have been able to carve out better battle tactics, but for now, they had nothing.
