Chapter 34: Trouble

Ethan needed a slave, as in this ongoing battle against the beast tide, the more people he had, the safer he felt. He cannot push other nobles’ bloodline awakeners easily, but for rogue bloodline awakeners it was a different matter.

He had already taken a liking to some commoners’ bloodline awakeners, whom he could use as a shield in this battle. Anyway, for him, they were just cannon fodder to use as a shield.

"Go, and tell that commoner dog that I am giving him a chance to join the Silverblade family." He said to one of his servant guards.

Afterwards, he leaned back comfortably, completely unconcerned.

While everyone else continued risking their lives on the front lines... He remained where he was, allowing his subordinates to fight in his place.

Max didn’t know that he was being eyed by the most troublesome noble young master. He was focused on the battle. His movement became more efficient, and especially his battle senses seemed to be honed at unbelievable speed.

He could now feel and see every movement around him more clearly, like he had eyes on his back. His ability to sense blood allowed him to understand the chaotic battlefield more clearly.

He was sure that if he had to fight the bloodline awakeners from the Blackthorn family, he would be able to handle them more easily.

After these three hours of battle, at least a hundred or more people had already died, though most of them were ordinary soldiers with few blood seed warriors. Still, it was a loss as they had just adjusted to the intensity of the beginning of the beast tide.

They had fought for days to come, so he could not guess how many would die in the process.

As he was taking a short break to breathe for the first time after this non-stop three-hour battle, a soldier came to him.

"What!" Max noticed him and asked, raising his eyebrows as he looked at the symbol on its armour. The soldier had a carved silver blade on its armour, and he immediately knew whom it belonged to.

Among all the noble families gathered here...

This was the one he least wanted to deal with. The soldier belonged to the Silverblade Family.

Which meant...

The person behind him could only be the infamous young master— Ethan Silverblade.

Ethan’s reputation had already preceded him.

But after watching his behaviour throughout the past three hours, even outsiders had come to understand what kind of person he truly was.

Arrogant.

Pompous.

Completely unconcerned with the lives of others, even in the middle of a Beast Tide. His actions spoke louder than any rumour ever could.

Because of that...

Almost everyone deliberately kept their distance from him, praying they would never catch the attention of the notorious young master.

He seemed to have, even during this ongoing battle, troubled those without background and even forced many rogue bloodline awakeners to follow him and fight for him. And now such a troublesome person came to him.

"Hm, what are you looking like that! Don’t you know who my master is? Quick, come with me; my young master wants you to serve him from now on."

The servant guard was a blood seed warrior, and because of Ethan’s support, he didn’t care about rogue bloodline awakeners. He had served Ethan for some time, so he had developed the same cocky personality.

Max’s expression remained calm; he seemed not to hear mere guards yapping. He was thinking about what he should do. A servant like this was nothing to him.

Now, Max was confident that he could face almost any ordinary Bloodline Awakener from the noble families. The real problem wasn’t Ethan.

It was the Transformation Realm expert standing behind him. That existence was on an entirely different level from what have felt. Max knew he couldn’t defeat someone like that.

But no matter how troublesome Ethan was, even he could not directly attack him during the battle. So, he made up his mind.

He looked at the haughty servant guard and said calmly, " Roll."

And then, without looking back, he went ahead with his spear to take care of the beasts, leaving the servant guard shocked as he couldn’t utter any words.

During the battle, he had approached many rogue Bloodline Awakeners. Every one of them knew whose servant he was. None had ever dared reject him outright like this.

They might try to avoid it, but not like this, directly disregarding him without any fear.

"Stop!" How dare..."

Before he could finish shouting...

Max suddenly looked back, and their eyes met only for a brief instant, yet the servant felt as though he had been locked onto by an ancient dragon.

An overwhelming aura of blood and destruction crushed his spirit.

A chill ran down his spine. His words caught in his throat, and he couldn’t utter another sound.

His body seemed to have stopped listening to him, and his blood seemed to have stopped pumping in his veins, and he almost felt he was about to die.

But a moment later everything returned to normal, like what he felt was an illusion. But he didn’t dare to look towards Max and then silently left.

Max remained calm as he tried to use his bloodline aura to intimidate the servant, and it seemed it was quite successful. His control over his power had improved, so he wanted to try this but didn’t expect it to work so well.

However...

During that brief moment, he felt something unexpected.

For an instant, it seemed as though he had almost influenced the servant’s blood itself, but the sensation vanished before he could examine it further.

But it let him see a future possibility that he might be able to control other bloodline awakeners’ blood.

On the other side, the trembling servant returned to the young Master Ethan, who noticed that the servant was not right.

But he didn’t care about that; instead, he casually asked.

"So..."

"He agreed, didn’t he?"

After all, no rogue Bloodline Awakener had ever dared refuse him so openly.
