Chapter 195: The Gods.

Seoha’s POV

"I love you" Taesan says when he comes out of the bathroom.

My alpha is dressed for work.

He is wearing a black suit that looks perfect on him. One hand buttons his sleeve while his eyes are fixed on me.

The brown orbs are still dark from the tension earlier, but they look less threatening.

"I love you too" I whisper, sliding under the sheets to hide my face from him.

"Seoha, look at me when you say those words" Taesan commands and I pull the sheets down to look at his stern face.

He is acting cold and strict to me, but I can see through him...he’s feeling guilty for scaring me.

"I love you alpha" I say and his tense shoulders relax, chest rising and falling as he sighs heavily.

"I will make life good for you and Sooin, I promise" he says with that deep and rough voice.

The alpha walks to his closet and my breath catches in my throat as he opens it.

From here I can see his sword, heavy, glimmering and intimidating as it leans against one of the lower shelves.

He picks out a phone and returns to stand next to the bed, right next to me.

"I bought this for you" he says and I look at the device with surprise.

"I am the reason you have been without one" he continues to talk, and I take the phone from him to unlock it.

"I set it up already, but it’s yours to decide how it works" he says, stepping back as I keep staring at it in awe.

I can’t believe that I completely forgot about using and needing a phone.

’We had no one to call’ my omega says, and I remember how isolated I was until I found a family with Kang Taesan.

"Thank you" I whisper and I feel his large hand on my head.

He’s gently pushing back the brown strands of hair that are on my forehead.

"I want you safe, baby. Work with me, okay?" he asks and I nod.

I’ll work with you, Taesan, but I will also make sure I work for you...you’ll never have to do anything alone.

"Trust me" he says.

"I trust you" I respond and he locks his gaze with me, "I love you, very much" I say, and this time, I mean it.

Taesan leans down to kiss me on the lips; it’s a brief kiss but it feels like all the words I know he can’t tell me right now.

’I’m sorry’

’I love you’

’I’m scared for you’

"Junho will be here to pick you soon, sleep" he says and leaves me alone on our bed.

I scroll through the new phone, checking the things that had been set up for me to use.

"Thank you, Kang Taesan" I whisper to the air, yawning tiredly as my eyes start to grow heavy.

It’s strange that I feel tired even though I just woke up, so instead of fighting it, I lay down again and let myself fall asleep.

Darkness hugs me as soon as I close my eyes.

But after a few minutes, or rather, after what feels like an hour, everything changes.

’Seoha...are you scared?’ an old man’s voice says and I whimper, turning to my side to run from it.

’You should be scared’ the voice says and I wake up to Jisu’s bright voice.

"Oppa? Junho-ssi is here to get you" she says.

"Thank you" I say as I blink myself awake and get out of the bed.

"What about your breakfast, oppa?" Jisu asks and I shake my head, "I’ll eat at a café" I mumble.

I can ask Junho to stop for me at Hanbin’s store...that way I’ll ask him what I need to know.

I quickly get dressed in one of Taesan’s creations, making sure my collar sits under it...I don’t know how Taesan would feel about seeing me in it at work.

When I’m done, I make my way down to the living area where Junho is standing with a grim expression on his face, jaw clenched and eyes cold.

"Is...is everything okay?" I ask, "Where’s Minnie?"

"He’s at my place, he’s safe" Junho says and I frown at the use of the word ’safe’.

What’s going on?

"Are you ready to go?" he asks and without waiting for my response, he leads the way out of the house.

I manage to catch up and slide into the car before he would drive off.

My hands grip the sides of the seat, I know Junho will never hurt me, but I have never seen him like this.

He’s angry.

"Your phone is ringing" I say in a quiet voice, pointing at the phone that is vibrating on the dashboard and he accepts the call.

"I told you not to call me" Junho says in a cold voice, and I find myself sinking into my seat like it would hide me.

"My order is the same, don’t let Taesan’s men approach them at Winslow" Junho barks.

Winslow?

Taesan also spoke about a Winslow on the call earlier...is Junho countering what Taesan is doing?

"That place is already a burial ground, adding two more bodies will mean nothing. Kill them all" Junho says and my eyes widen.

What?

Hearing Junho’s order to have someone killed feels wrong...this is not the hyung that took me grocery shopping.

"Just do as I say, I will face the captain myself" he says and ends the call.

Junho speeds up as if he has forgotten that I’m in the car.

I whimper in fear as he swerves carelessly, and the beta curses under his breath before turning his head.

"Are you okay?" he asks, maybe noticing that I look like I’m on the verge of passing out from fear.

"I’m hungry" I say in a small voice. "That’s right, Minjae wanted some doughnuts" he says.

"The place he likes is right there" I point at the store where we met Hanbin last time, trying to act like I’m not terrified of him.

I pray Junho is there or else I might not have another chance to see him...

"I’m leaving..." I say, and as if the moon goddess heard me, Junho’s phone starts to ring.

"Damn it, go on, I’ll join you when I drop this call" Junho says, hissing as he accepts the call.

When I get into the store, Hanbin is the first sight that greets me.

"Seoha, what are you doing here?" my halfbrother asks.

"Hyung, I need to talk to you about something urgent" I say and look around desperately.

The store is half empty, so if I pull him away, there won’t be an issue.

"Junho might come looking for me soon, can you follow me?" I ask and he glances at the door before going with me to the bathroom.

Once we are in the bathroom, I shut the door and lean against it. I place one hand on my chest to calm my racing heart.

I know I’m surrounded by dangerous men, but seeing them in action shakes me more than anything.

"Hyung, I need to know about the Gods"

The moment I say that title, Hanbin stands straighter, eyes widening with something that seems like fear.

"What did you just say?" he asks, grabbing my arms and looking into my eyes like he is on the verge of running out of the bathroom.

"T-the Gods" I repeat, and his grip tightens on me.

"Where did you hear that name from? Seoha, people like you are never supposed to know about them" he shakes me and I shut my eyes to fight the dizziness he’s causing me.

"I just know it! Okay? and I need to know more, I don’t want to be a sitting duck" I say, pulling my arms out of his grip.

"I haven’t known you long enough, Seoha, but you are my younger brother and I will advise you to forget them"

"You are my brother, not my owner. Tell me what you know" I insist and Hanbin shakes his head.

His eyes are empty as he stares at the floor, I can tell that he’s seeing nothing. He looks like he’s having a flashback on the spot.

"Please, hyung...I need to know, Taesan wants to work with them but Junho is against it" I say, pressing my palm together and the gesture makes Hanbin wince.

"The Gods are a family of monsters, Seoha...the Deus" he starts.

"So they’re just people?"

"They’re the equivalent of the Four Horsemen...war, death, famine and conquest"

"Stop talking in codes, hyung" I plead, holding his hands to beg him.

"If Taesan works with them, it means he’s asking for an apocalypse" Hanbin says and my shoulders drop.

"I still don’t understand..."

"They destroy things, people, places...and they leave a mess everywhere they go"

A realization dawns on me.

"He’s doing it because of grandfather" I say and Hanbin’s face turns pale.

"There is a reason those men are called The Gods, if Taesan is asking them to come, then he has to sacrifice something"

Sacrifice?

What if Taesan chooses to sacrifice Mountain Atelier? I can’t let him destroy his dream because of me and Sooin.

"Hyung, we have to find a way to stop him without getting Taesan to lose anything" I say and Hanbin scoffs.

"I wish it can be as easy as we say it...but Seoha, make sure he doesn’t get The Gods to come. You never know which side of them will be unleashed" Hanbin shakes his head slowly.

"And you just keep crossing the lines, Shin Seoha" a low voice growls as the door is pushed open and I freeze on the spot.

Oh no...
