Chapter 194: 5am call...

Seoha’s POV

After thirty minutes of lazing around under the tree, it’s finally time to go back home.

My bottom lip keep trembling, but I’m a mother now, I can’t cry while my pup is crying in my grandma’s arms.

"Are we going to come back?" Sooin asks through her loud sobs and I pout at Taesan.

The alpha is acting nonchalant, but I can see his brows furrow with every loud cry that Sooin makes.

"Dad" Sooin cries and he winces, pausing to address her.

"We’ll come back, princess" he says softly, dropping the last of our heavy bags into the boot of his car while Jisu assists.

"This was so fun" Jisu says, wiping a fake tear off her face.

"I don’t want to leave grandma" Sooin says, hugging my grandma tight and her greying eyes well up with tears.

"I don’t want you to go too little baby, but I know you’ll visit again" she says as she pats Sooin’s head.

"I can bring you back another day, hmm?" I say softly, realizing that I have the power to travel on my own now.

I have a collar, I have a mark, and I have Taesan’s approval.

"And we’ll fish?" Sooin asks, she sounds cute even though her voice is muffled.

"Yes, we’ll fish all day" I say and she finally lets go of my grandma, reluctantly going into her father’s arms.

"Don’t be upset princess" he says, kissing her hair softly.

"Grandma will forget me and love another girl" Sooin sniffles and my grandma gasps.

Oh Sooin...poor girl is carrying the fear of abandonment because of Jaemin’s selfishness.

"I will never forget you, aigoo. No other child can replace you, I promise" grandma says, holding out her pinky finger for Sooin.

"Okay" Sooin says, sniffling as she completes the pinky promise from the distance between them.

"Let’s go" Taesan says in a gruff tone and opens the door for Sooin to go in.

"Bye" Sooin waves at grandma before getting in.

Jisu gives a respectful bow before getting in too.

"Grandma" I say, I don’t have any words to say, and she understands me well. She just cups my cheeks.

"Be strong, hmm? You’re doing well" she whispers to me and I nod, still fighting back my tears.

"I love you" I say to her, getting into the car too.

I shut the door and wait for Taesan to come in, but he doesn’t.

The alpha reluctantly walks over to my grandma, and I watch him hug her stiffly.

Grandma says something and it makes Taesan bend his head for a pat on the head.

Oh...why is my heart swelling with happiness?

The little sight makes me smile at them...they act like cat and dog but they are secretly so cute.

Taesan finally comes into the car, acting like he’s annoyed as he takes his seat.

"You and grandma are bestfrien-"

"Shut up" he mumbles, shutting the door and driving us away from my grandma’s home.

The drive is long and comfortably quiet.

Jisu and Sooin relive the trip by talking about it till they fall asleep in the back seat.

I try to watch Taesan drive, but I end up falling asleep, only waking up as he places me on the bed and starts to take off my shoes.

"Alpha?" I whisper drowsily. Sleepily reaching out to touch his face, but he puts my hand down.

"Sleep" he whispers, gently pulling my left shoe off and pressing a kiss to the aching feet.

"How did you know it was hurting?" I ask with a slur.

"I know a lot of things, treasure" he says and with a small smile glued to my face, I fall asleep again.

Morning comes quickly, and as soon as I open my eyes, I am greeted with Taesan’s muscular naked back.

The alpha’s body is tense and he is on a call.

He is walking to the balcony with his lighter in his hand, and I sit up, worried that he’s smoking again.

"Which one of them?" I hear him ask the person he’s on the call with.

He flicks on the lighter and watches the flame but doesn’t pull out a cigarette.

’Alpha is agitated’ my omega whimpers and I place my feet on the floor, ready to go there and offer comfort.

"No, I need direct access to them, get that for me" he says, sounding tired and irritated by whoever it is that is on the call.

"The Gods shouldn’t be hard to contact. Fine then, wait for them at Winslow, one mistake...just one mistake and you will be responsible for your own family’s death" he says and ends the call.

Taesan drops his head and releases a sigh.

The threat I just overheard reminds me that he’s still the captain...but my omega can feel his alpha’s restlessness.

"Is...is everything okay?" I ask and he looks over his shoulder, startled by voice.

Taesan is the most aware alpha that I have ever met, seeing him get caught by surprise is something odd to me.

"You woke up too early" he says in a softer voice and I look at the clock by the bed.

It’s five in the morning...does he mean ’you’re not supposed to hear that?’.

"Why are you up this early?" I ask and he runs his fingers through his dark hair.

"Hmm, I have work to do" he says and I pull down the shirt I’m wearing...when did I wear this?

"Is it the mafia?" I ask and a strange look flash on his face.

"It’s something you shouldn’t worry about" he says, voice hardening slightly, but I don’t relent.

"Who is...the Gods?"

"How much of the call much did you hear?" the alpha asks with a snarl and suddenly, the room feels chilly.

"Seoha, how much?" he asks and I shake my head in fear, "I just woke up" I say.

"Seoha" he growls my name like a warning, taking a threatening step towards me and my heart gets stuck in my throat.

He’s slowly becoming the Taesan I met at the hotel, the Taesan of the mafia world...

"I didn’t hear much...and-and I know you won’t tell me" I say in a shaky voice.

I don’t mean to sound this pitiful, but I can’t help it.

And instead of completing his threat, Taesan turns around and returns to the balcony.

He releases a breath and shuts his eyes as he leans against it.

"Don’t ask me, Seoha. Don’t ask anything for now, just be by my side and trust me" he says when he opens his eyes and I nod.

"I’ll go prepare for work, you can rest more and I’ll send Junho to pick you up later"

"Yes" I say simply, lying in bed again as the alpha leaves.

If he’s not telling me, then it means there’s trouble...I can’t let him face trouble all alone.

I told him to bring me into his world and I’m here to stay.

I’ll have to meet my older half-brother and ask all my questions.
