Chapter 191: Memory in a dream

Seoha’s POV

Memory in a Dream

A smile is frozen on my face.

My heart has been beating in a weird happy way, and I know it’s because of what, or rather, who I saw.

A male omega mom was confidently cooing at his pup. They were in public, yet he was bouncing the pup in his arm and beaming at him.

Our world frowns upon on male omegas; ’you’re a man, act like one. You’re a man dress like one. Blah, blah, blah’

But since I saw that omega and his pup, I haven’t stopped smiling.

I cooked dinner with a smile on my face. Washed up with a smile on my face, and now, I am lying on Daeshin’s chest with a smile on my face.

My boyfriend hasn’t noticed of my smile, but it’s okay, he’s like this when he has work stress.

"I want to be a mom" I say loudly and he stiffens under me.

"You should focus on other things baby, your drawings are starting to look weird these days" he says and I pout like a petulant child.

"I will get better, I just wanted to share my thoughts with you" I say, but as I turn away from him, he pulls me back.

"I’m sorry, it’s just that...being an alpha is such a hard thing. They’re saying my art at work are stolen and they might fire me" he says and I furrow my brows.

On a normal day, I would worry about him, but today...I’m thinking of the pup that I badly wish for.

"I just want to have a baby..."

"You’re still a baby Seoha-ya, you’re still cute like one and so...naïve and helpless, so cute" he says.

I don’t know if those words should make me feel good, but they don’t...they make me feel odd.

"I don’t like that" I say, pushing myself off him.

"Goddess, Seoha, baby I came home to rest in your arms after a hard day" he yells and the memory slowly transitions into a dream.

He’s gigantic and I’m small.

I’m cowering in the corner of the room, looking up at him with pure fear while his eyes glow with alpha rage.

"Why can’t you just be the perfect omega I want? You’re too much!" he yells and I block my ears with both hands.

"I’m not too much. I’m not too much" I say to myself to silence his voice, but he keeps raging.

"I want a baby, I want a collar, I want a knot. Are you a prostitute?" he lifts his left hand to hit me, but suddenly he freezes.

And I stare at him in disbelief, chest rising and falling at how he looks.

He looks...dead.

A child’s giggle filters through the hands blocking my ears against Daeshin’s insults.

’Daddy, wake up!’ Sooin’s sweet voice says and I lift my head.

That’s right...I’m a daddy now and I’m freed from being Daeshin’s cash cow.

"Daddyyy"

I open my eyes to find Sooin smiling down at me.

Her hair is falling over her shoulders and to my face, making me realize how similar we are.

She even has my hair texture.

’That’s our daughter, our pup’ my omega says.

"Daddy, grandma is making something delicious, I want you to come too" she says, shaking me by the shoulder.

This little angel has no clue about the chaos surrounding her, she’s just living life like the precious child that she is.

"Is that so?" I ask in a sleep heavy voice, already fighting back tears.

"Yes, dad is there too and Jisu unnie" Sooin continues to chatter as she points at the door, and I shut my eyes.

"Don’t sleep, daddy, I want you to play too" Sooin says, shaking me again and I smile at her even though there are tears clinging to my lashes.

I’m her real mother. She wants me there. Not Jaemin, me.

"Innah" I say her nickname and she huffs, pulling my hand to make me get up.

"Why did you call me daddy that day?" I ask in a tone that won’t make her scared.

I need to know why she picked me out of hundreds of people that day.

"I can smell you!" she beams at me, showing me all of her little teeth and my heart breaks a little.

"You can smell me?"

"Yes, daddy is like hmm...vanilla" she says, cupping me cheeks and forcing my cheeks and lips into a silly expression.

"Everybody in my class can smell their daddy" she adds.

The words would make anyone sad, but Sooin’s happy spark doesn’t dim.

Pups below the age of ten can only smell their parents and siblings; it’s nature’s way of protecting them.

"I can only smell you daddy, you smell pretty" she says, still playing with my cheeks.

This would mean that she can’t smell Taesan.

And if she can’t smell him, it also means that she might know that he’s not her real father...still she loves him more than anyone.

This is my daughter.

"I want to hug you, princess" I say and she squeals, that high-pitched happy sound she likes to make.

"I love you and dad and uncle Junnie and aunty Yuki and uncle Minjae" she says her mantra and I laugh.

What’s the point in crying over something that has happened long ago?

They stole my baby from me, but she’s here in my arms again; my stolen baby found me all by herself.

"Daddy...are you sad?" she asks and that’s when I realize that tears are sliding down my cheek.

"No, I’m just very happy" I whisper, hugging her tightly and kissing the side of her head.

"Let’s go outside daddy! If you’re sad, dad will kiss it better" Sooin says, breaking our hug to drag me up again.

This time, I let her pull me outside.

As soon as I step outside, I see Taesan sitting on the floor and having a stare down with my grandmother’s dog.

"Good morning" I say in a soft voice and he lift his head to look at me.

Taesan looks like he hasn’t slept; there are dark circles under his eyes and goddess, he still looks so handsome.

Is it really a good morning after the pain of last night? No.

But can I try to make it a good morning from now on? Yes.

"Good morning, Treasure" Taesan says, and I take the first few steps towards him.

And before I get to him, the alpha gets up to complete the steps, engulfing me in a hug.

’I’ll swallow you up’ his hug seems to say.

’Yes please’ my own hug says.

I will stay by him; I will be strong for him. I won’t break or back down.

"Get it over with, there are children here" grandma says in a sweet tone and Jisu starts to protest.

"Dad and Daddy sitting on a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" our daughter sings.

Our daughter...
